The creators said they were TOTALLY FINE with theorizing. Just that they don't want you to tell THEM your theories. THEM being the creators.

Exactly! Just like Dan Harmond doesn't watch/read fan theories about Rick and Morty because he doesn't want them changing the show. He wants to make sure he tells the story in his way, without any outside influence, but he encourages it among the fan community.

Sadly, these ARG rules are here for a reason. Lots of ARG’s end up with creators having their personal information stolen or crazy fans harassing businesses with no connection to the ARG.

Someone else already clarified this, but the rule about not making theories means "don't show/forward theories to the creator directly"; they encourage it among fans and for us to share it with each other, but they don't want to see it themselves because they don't want it changing the story they're trying to tell. Just like Dan Harmond doesn't watch or read theories about Rick and Morty because he's one of the lead writers and doesn't want them influencing him, but he's okay with fans discussing it amongst themselves, this creator wants to make sure their original stays intact and isn't influenced by outside sources. Just letting you and everyone know :)

Fun fact, those 5Ps he talked about actually stem from a video he made after one of his FNAF theories.
In said FNAF Theory, MatPat posited that, based on info left vague in one of the recently released books, there may have, at one point, been plans for a FNAF ARG out somewhere in... Colorado, I think.
Anyways, long story short, he asked his fans who live in that area to see if they could find or learn anything about if there was ever an ARG potentially planned. Looking around the area and what not to see if anything stood out.
This backfired. Hard. The younger portion of Mat's fanbase, many likely not even from the relevant area, got too overzealous, and started phoning businesses in Colorado so often it was practically harassment. Accidental harassment, obviously, they're just kids they didn't know better, but harassment nonetheless.
Matpat made a follow-up video a couple days later basically calling a stop to the ARG hunt, apologizing to those impacted, and then laid out some (apparently) sorely needed rules. Those are the 5Ps he listed off in this video.

From my understanding Clown (the creator of Welcome Home) allows theories but doesn’t want them to be shared to them specifically (Clown/the creator) so it doesn’t influence what they’ve already planned out.
The ARG rules are 100% needed as there have been issues in the past from people not following them. I love to see your reactions though. I watch every game theory that comes out even when i know absolutely nothing about the game/ARG because i just find it all really cool.

Yeah this is quite the theory. Then again something like this being a thing makes sense. Especially with how there can be hidden messages inside in the forms of media that exist. Be it cartoons, anime, music, the news, etc.

I'm the wierd kid that was into both genres.
Absolutely loved batman and xmen animated versions as a 90's kid. I mean, those intros are dope af.
But I also liked a little reading rainbow and Wishbone now and then too. Wishbone in.0articular even though it was more this sitcom for half of it. I did like the little adventure through knowledge they tried tying in with some stories like the red badge of courage (great book, highly reccomend for young readers) and the donquxote story.

Also, shows like Wishbone is why William Johnstone is my favorite author, who does a lot of historical fiction stories, and virtually all of them connected to each other in some way or another with the main characters being relatives of other main characters, or just knowing them and making an appearance in another series here and there.

So many ARGs use similar tricks and techniques. FNAF itself did the entire find the lore in the source code thing years ago. This one is not any different. The main difference between all ARGs is what lore is being told.

welcome home is not an arg, its a common misconception, its simply a story that gets parts added on over time like any other story telling game/horror project that has chapters(think of bendy and the ink machine) the creator has said it is not an arg

I know some people have already stated this, but Matpat misspoke, theory videos are fine, the issue is when the creator themselves SEES the video. The reason for this is because as a creator and/or author, common opinions and ideas will sometimes influence the way you approach your own work, which isn't always for the better if your original vision was superior.
