- Elden Ring is so good that I don't think any upcoming release can meet the standards set by this game. The newest hit from, From Software Elden Ring came out on February 25th to critical acclaim, with good reason too. I've put like 100 hours into the game and honestly I already think it's game of the decade. I don't know if any other game can really compete with this.
From Software always come out swinging with their new games. Please check this game out if you haven't already, I promise you won't regret it.

In my opinion I think from software missed an opportunity to make the game harder depending on what time of day it was if it was morning the enemies would be a bit drowsy thus it would be easier to take them down mid-afternoon they be wide awake a little harder at night the enemies would be twice as strong and give out twice as much experience points that's my idea of how fromsoftware could have made the game even harder. The actual story bosses would be hard depending on what time of day you would encounter them
I have never played a "Souls Game" but this is so dang fun
make it a 10/10 they fixed all those problems
You _can_ in fact skip Raya Lucaria. All you need is the Dectus Medallion and you're off to Leyndell.
The First half is in Limgrave, and the other is in Caelid. I explored Caelid early to to get the runes from that huge dragon, and took the Medallion while I was there. So once I beat Raya Lucaria I went straight to Leyndell. After clearing out the capital I went back to finish Caelid.
You can totally just wander into dungeons/levels out of order. The games really reminiscent of Zelda 1 on NES in that way.
You don't even need that. I didn't get the 2nd half if the dectus medallion until after beating the fire giant because I just happened to be exploring and find it. You can just go around the lift to the west
It's even simpler you don't even need the lift, there's a dungeon that has you scale the cliffside to Altus Plateau. On my first playthrough I never completed the medallion, completely optional.
Patches also informs you of an iron virgin or whatever (you don't need to speak with him tho) at the base of the big wheel house elevator beneath Raya Lucaria Academy and if you let the Virgin grab you, it'll take you to a secret place under the volcano manor that leads to Altus Plateau
@@clayjemmott1072 you have to die to the grab attack for this method to work. If you have a good amount of hp you'll survive the grab and not be warped

95 hours in and I’m still on my first play through. The world is actually amazing and there’s so much to explore. Once you think your ready to move on with the story boom you find a whole other underground world or something
I didn't finish the first playthrough for several hundred hours, and that wasn't really a function of trying to get all achievements. It was a function of fucking around with different weapons and not trying to make a mad dash through the main story. I get most of my lore-jollies from video now that I have touched most of the game. Finishing the main storyline in a timely manner isn't as fun to me as getting 60% of the way through it in a timely manner, and then just fucking around for months.

I had like 140 hours clocked before i finished my first playthrough. Even then, there was a lot left I still wanted to explore, I just figured I should wrap up the main story so I could look deeper into the lore and characters without spoiling shit.

I just can't finish it because I keep getting stuck in some huge cave and getting highly outleveled by those minotaur like things
Elden Ring is industry defining and one of my favorite all time experiences. It made me feel like a kid again. I realize now just how much I dislike the Ubisoft formula, and why I could only play about half of Valhalla. I hope DLC is coming. Great video also -funny and polished. Easy subscription.
Wich is good. From software is showing the world that greed will get you nowhere. That a GOOD and WELL MADE game earns tons of cash and monetization schemes and live services aren't needed. Unless its a mmo type game wich needs consistant sustaining of money to put out expansions and updates.

Dark Souls 3 is also great. I find the gameplay is a little more difficult, but satisfying. ER was my first Fromsoft game btw.
That was an awesome video! It made me want to jump in the world of FromSoftware games so I bought Dark souls 1. I was waiting for it to be on sale but your video just sold me on it. I'm not promising I'll finish the game though because the game seems very challenging. I guess we'll see if I am worthy or not. Anyway, keep going. I can't imagine the amount of efforts you put into this video. You are really dedicated, that's for sure.
There really is so much to gain from playing through Dark Souls, it made the blueprint for so many games to come over the next decade, keep at it and you'll get it in time

You will probably never see this, but Godfrey is the first required boss.
All you need to enter Leyndell is two great runes which you can get from five different bosses:
Margit the Fell Omen -> Godrick the Grafted
Starscourge Radahn
Red Wolf of Radagon -> Rennala Queen of the Full Moon
and Godskin Noble -> God Devouring Serpent/Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy
Mohg, Lord of Blood
And then you need to beat Draconic Tree Sentinel
BUT... He is skippable too if you use this route:
BOSSES:
Starscourge Radahn -> Mimic Tear -> Valiant Gargoyles -> Fia's Champions
FULL ROUTE:
Fort Haight -> Dectus Medallion half -> Caelid -> Greyoll's Dragonbarrow -> Fort Faroth -> Dectus Medallion half -> Liurnia of the Lakes -> Grand Lift of Dectus -> Altus Plateau -> Redmane Castle -> Wailing Dunes -> Starscourge Radahn -> Nokron, Eternal City -> Mimic Tear -> Two Valiant Gargoyles -> Deeproot Depths -> Three Fia's Champions, Sorcerer Rogier, and Lionel the Lionhearted -> Leyndell, Royal Capital
EDIT: It turns out that to use the second route, you still need to get 2 Great Runes, meaning you also have to kill Mohg, Lord of Blood, Godskin Noble and God Devouring Serpent/Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, Margit the Fell Omen and Godrick the Grafted, or Red Wolf of Radagon and Rennala Queen of the Full Moon.

I am now 50 hours into the game and it’s become my favorite thing to play! It’s my first FromSoft game I’ve actually made it very far in. (I’ve only attempted some of Sekiro) I’ve spent most of my time just exploring and running away from enemies but have been having a blast! 10/10 from me!

(Btw against the double tree sentinels, you can lure out 1 at a time through the gate - still have to kill them back to back ofc without resting at grace but makes it manageable)

11:30 and jumps has s for characters legs. So you can attack and dodge at the same time now!
You can skip Limgrave and Liurnia. Hell, the only requirement to get into the Capital is two great runes. Rip them from the fresh corpse of whatever demi-god strikes your fancy. Also, give FromSoft all the love for allowing us, the players, to become almost picture perfect copies of Malenia. The gear required for it is NOT easy to come by, but you can 100% play as her first phase if you want to capitalize on other players PTSD.
You don't even need 2 great runes
If you progress ranni's questline and get to deeproot, kill fia's champions and use the teleporter in the arena to get into capital
Honestly there is some hella hyped shit with the double Tree sentinel guarding the main highway to Leyndell. Its literally a long stair case where each part you fight increasingly more elite enemies.
From the lowly footsoldier to the elite knights and what is above the elite knights? Well, the fucking Tree Sentinels. Its in their name. They're guarding the Erdtree after all, so no wonder the most amount of them are in the Capital where the Tree resides. Its fucking genius.

It's rare that I will start a second playthrough of a game right away, but after putting in 110 hrs for my first playthrough I started NG+ for a boss rush and a second ending

Good video. I am not a Dark Souls player. Never touched one. I'm an old tabletop rpg fan and rpg gamer. Was playing Neverwinter for a few years. After my partner in crime from NW (and Call of Duty) offered to loan me the money to buy the game, I finally started looking at UA-cam videos and asking questions. And weeks later, I bought it (for console, sue me). I wanted to surprise my boy, but he noticed right away. Anyway, Neverwinter if you're listening, how do you let someone else make your game better than you?!? For any D&D gamers who don't mind solo adventures, this is for you. Elden Ring is awesome. My characters are still basically noobs. Only one has beaten Margrit, and I had help. I freaking spend more time exploring out of curiosity than anything else. So correction, I wasn't a Souls player, but hell if I'm not now. Good job on the video. Keep making content. May I suggest a video series on hidden dungeons? I'm subscribing, just in case. 😁
On my second playthrough and I keep finding places I missed despite EXTENSIVE exploration. I even beat all of the real/unique bosses in my first play and got the Flame of Frenzy ending. Even still, I just keep getting wowed and just like other From Software games, the community, videos like this and content creators like you keep fanning my flame of passion for these games. I'm an author and Miyazaki's influence on my current WIP will be readily but intentionally apparent (like writing him an epic length "Thank you" letter). Great video! Happily have now subbed to your channel.
Are we for sure about the Radahn fight becoming available for doing a quest for Ranni? I've heard so many different variations of what makes the fight available i don't know what to believe anymore.

@@Proxidist Good to know. As I said I think it's stilla bit of a mystery as to what starts it. I know when you first help out Alexander he tells you about the Festival. Could be there are multiple ways to start the Festival. Were you thinking it was related to Ranni because Blaidd shows up there? In my playthrough I had started Ranni's quest but never linked up with Blaidd at Siofra and he actually mentioned this when i talked to him at the Festival. Something like he was looking forward to meeting me there and was disappointed he didn't get to see what kind of a fighter i was but was looking forward to how i would handle Radahn. Pretty cool little detail that makes the NPCs feel more alive.

This video reminded me of one I watched a few months ago about how games just don't feel the same anymore and I really resonated with that. Then elden ring came out. It has brought back my passion for games exponentially and as soon as I get home I can't wait to go and play it. Fantastic video

My first play through, getting all achievements and beating all optional bosses, was about 200 hours and I finished at level 185.

Admitedly I whould like a log I chould read through the quests I have allready done in elden ring just dont have it tell me the next part of the quest.
I love your take on the quests. The only thing, I'd love to see at least a text note about the quest, or a hint. Not how to complete those quests, but just not to forget you had that dialog starting a quest. It's an issue for me for all Souls games :( As a person who can't play everyday I'd appreciate something like this. Or the way they did it in Morrowind in the old days.
can confirm after 35 hours as a mage i restarted to go faith but did not want too reset. im now 120 hours in on a faith (i can only play a couple hours a day and some days not at all). i think i was 90+ hours in before making any progress was just fking about going "wonder if they drop anything good" and then ill spend 2 hours killing them 173 times for armor. headed too the right side of atlus soon prolly 200 hours before i beat the game lol. elden ring is changing everything 100% planning too go back in as a mage or mixed
To answer your question, yes. Raya Lucaria is optional. You just need to get the other half of Dectus Medallion in Dragonbarrow and then head to Leyndell. The other half is in Mistwood

I wish I hadn't watched so many boss fight videos though! Fortunately I stumbled onto most of them until I got tired of finding them.
I know this is 2 months old rn but I just started elden ring and so far I love it, only problem i have on my current playthrough is i got stuck in roundtable hold before properly leveling up some. But I'm gonna get out tonight!

Yes you can skip the Academy. I did it by jumping off the cliff side near the area of the where you can approach the great elevator lower entrance.
I had already accessed the upper area before I went back to get the academy key from the dragon's area to enter the academy and kill Ranni and Rennala.
Dude I am 250 hours in, last boss of the game, still finding dungeons, still finding world bosses lol. How in the world did you 100% this game twice already that is insane haha.

If you see shiny shit, follow it and see where it ends. See something that catches your attention? Go to it. Maybe find a new ash of war.
See that walking temple? Go there.
See that jellyfish in the corner of the canyon? Kill it. Maybe its obscuring a door into a dungeon.
Found a ghostly candlestick in a forest? Interact with it and follow the spirit. You might find a dungeon.
Running trough ruins while fighting dudes?? Try slapping the ground in various places and you MIGHT find a hidden entrance to a dungeon. GAOLS, Stone Key gargoyles, dragons.
You name it! You find shit EVERYWHERE! Found patches yet? He's in a cave! Wanna find chariots of death? Found in a cave. Wanna fight a big ass bear? Dog/cat statues? Demi humans? Human/butterfly/centipede thing???

Y'know, those iron maidens are pretty easy to deal with using some volcano pots. They get that stamina break on them quickly
If I’m correct the only pre lyndell Demi god to fight is radahn, because you can kill him to get into the underground nokron or whatever, fight the twin gargs, and then beat fias champions and the teleporter in her domain gets you into lyndell, I haven’t actually tested this but I do think you can skip most stuff this way, although it’s by no means a fast method of getting into lyndell
Now we need a Tweeter bird boss mod for elden ring.
A maybe useful tip bout the 2 tree sentinels by the capital, you don't have to fight them both at once, you can come from behind the door they are standing at and agro just 9ne of them, kill it and then go for the other one. That is how I did it
The starscourage was suppose to be a tough boss but i went into the boss with every summon out at level 170 plus i had the rivers of blood katana. I flipped his balls like a light switch
Oh yeah you can skip Raya Lucaria as well, you just need the Dectus medallion to use the lift, or you can go through the cave at the north of the lake.
Also, you can fight Radahn without Ranni's quest, but you have to clear out the castle by force, and you have to face a duo boss in the area right before the chapel where you can ride the elevator down to the area where Radahn is. I fought him like this on my first playthrough, having no idea about ranni because I went to caelid before going to stormhill castle lol. Caelid absolutely destroyed me.

There are only two shards required to go to the capital so you can completely skip 2 of the first four regions, so instead of fighting godrick and ranalla you can totally skip them and fight radahn and rykard instead

That wasn't the same place with that dragon giant thing right...with all the ants before fighting it? It has a second phase where grows wings and shoots blue lightning.
You can skip every legacy dungeon till the capital. You just have to make sure u get 2 great runes, but its entirely up to you if you take it from rycard, godrick, renalla or radahn

8:25 Yes, the Raya Lucaria academy is actually skippable. You need two great runes to get into the capital, and I believe four are available to you essentially at the start; Praetor Rykard, Starscourge Radahn, Godrick the Grafted, and Rennala, Queen of the full Moon. Mohgywn can also be fought pretty early, but you need to beat Godrick to be able to get to him, atleast I think so, as I don't know another way to him besides Varre's questline.
If I got any of this wrong please correct me, only a couple hundred hours in at this point, so it's completely possible I flubbed something here
you can get to mohgwyn from a waypoint gate in the consecrated snowfield to the left side of the map near the edge of a cliff. not exactly marked though.

I still can't understand. I had trouble with plenty of bosses in ER but Milenia was super easy. I don't even think I got hit by her.

Fighting Radahn solo is one of the most rewarding and entertaining experiences of this game.
Fighting Malenia, Blade of Bullshit, no matter how you do it, is just pain.
My introduction to Dark Souls III was identical to yours. I started playing in early 2018, expecting to get my ass beating (I was right) and tried to do my best with mouse and keyboard. Ended out completing the game and wanted to play other ones (I've yet to play any).
Now I have 100% achievements in Elden Ring and I want it to be my most played game in my steam acc. Right now I have 275 hours and the only game that I've spent more time in is Dark Souls III (at 328).
I would give it a 88-93/100, since there are some aspects I wish were different (it goes from minor things like having more markers you can place on the map to things like a quest log, and I'm not saying they should straight up tell you where to go and what to do, I would like to see how things would work out if they, for example, NPC markers did not just disappear, but move to it's new location, so you actually encounter the character and not just guess that Dung Eater would be in a swamp near capital walls and the only thing, that's hinting you at it is a guy who cooks prawn and crab moving to that place and telling you about that Shit Devourer), but ultimately I'm very satisfied with the game and especially the color pallet- it's so beautiful and I'm so glad they moved on from gray-brown anything style

Bro, you can't deny an oppinion telling you the game is good if the person in question spend OVER 250+ hours on it and still loves it to bits. Denying an opinion like that is just basicly lying to yourself and others.
I'll just say, I would like actaully a quest log, but in a early Elder Scrolls games way like Morrowind. Basically an actaul journal of your character that keeps the important bits said by npcs but at the same time doesn't point an arrow to your destination, it's just there so you don't forget because....well humans forget :>

Dude I laughed so much! I’m a first timer and I love it. Especially falling for the “tips” other players give you. I was mad and laughed so hard at the same time. And my first souls game I started as a wretch 😂 running naked killing sheep cuz that’s the only thing I could kill. Killing anything made me happy
I made it to level 9 then traveled south to the dragon keep and I opened a chest and got booted to idk where in the fucking map and I couldn’t fast travel 😂 I made a whole new character cuz I couldn’t get through those mages. I didn’t even understand the mechanics yet it was literally out of the first step. I honestly loved getting my ass kicked. Still wretch and playing double reduvia (sad mistake because no range at all 😂)
Yeah I got it on release night. I haven't even made it into the capital. I'm 170 hours in. Level 55. I spend all my runes on crafting arrows. Maybe I'm the loser but I am enjoying myself.
I kind of liked how they did it though when you fight a cleanrot knight for example as a boss in a dungeon it's the first cleanrot knight you've seen (at least for me) so when I saw them later as a normal npc it feels like you've become so much better that the boss before is just normal trash now.
So I have never played any souls games before (besides hollow knight but that dosen’t really count) So when I first played Elden ring It literally made me depressed. It was hard as hell, unforgiving and made me feel emotions I didn’t even know existed. So I dropped it after only 10 hours of gameplay. But man people who actually finished the game have some real balls man. I wish I didn’t have a skill issue. Great video, I kinda wanna try picking it up again after this.
I highly recommend pushing through. Look up some guides to help you out and don't be afraid to cheese some bosses. They're gameplay mechanics after all haha.
the main reason why there is no quest log in elden ring is for the community to communicate with each other, old school style, ask and talk to people if you're stuck, true human interaction is back!
anyone struggling with the double boss in farum azula shown in the vid, you can trivilaize the fight with sleep, those minibosses are fairly weak to it, by the time you get there you should be able to buy a shit ton of smithing stones, get the sword of saint trina, level it up, and use the ashes of war on them and they will go to sleep fast
My favorite thing about an Elden Ring cutscene is that the little move Godrick uses to amputate his own arm is actually somewhat unavoidable when splinting firewood if the axe gets stuck in the wood. Points deducted for implying that amputating a human arm is anything like splitting firewood. Point deduction ignored because i hate spitting firewood, and I would probably also hate amputating my own arm.
Fun fact if you didnt know, standing next to him while hes cutting his arm off makes you take damage, he took gamer rage to a whole new level
@@deankatina9168 It's not super surprising in a fromsoft game. It did catch me off guard the first time i encountered it though. I only realized that he was cutting his own arm off after i'd already died like 3 times standing directly in front of him when he switched to the next phase of the fight.
Loved the video. I was a big fan of Witcher 3 though lol. Sometimes I like a good story heavy game.

still on my 1st run. 150 hours doing every little tidbit I can do :D (still stalling the snow area doing stuff before that) I was sold to gaming when Eye of The Beholder got released. That was 1991 :=D My top games over the years: my time line of fav games since 1991: Eye of the Beholder, Planescape Torment+Baldur's Gate, Demon's Souls, Bloodborn, Elden Ring. And mmo's: Ragnarok Online , Final Fantasy, Eldersscrolls.

.... I ran into Caelid 2 hours into the game. Loved the Area and because everyone told me Elden Ring is hard, I didn't doubt my decision.
I honestly thought this is the 2nd area before you go and try to clear Stormhill. I thought it is Dark soul's way of "open-world", so it doesn't get too easy. x,D
But it taught me early, that I have to be very curious and creative to progress in this world.
Still is my favorite area.
for me it's 9.4 out of 10, leak of npc quesline and empty snow area is a huge down for me.but with future dlc possibilities, might go up to 9.7
