    I've been taking ZMA for years. I cycled off recently, then I started up again just now.
    While I can say it's not a sleep aid (does give you crazy dreams) it makes 7-8 hours of sleep feel like 12.
    I also experience less muscle soreness.

    Especially if you take lot of caffeine, which causes a massive lack of magnesium, is ZMA very useful.

    Love the honesty. Going into a supplement store and the sales people will try to sell you anything and everything. They are two minerals that are essential. There are benefits to making sure your body gets enough. Pretty simple. Thanks Jim!

      Irving Sanguinetti I also get deeper sleep with zma, it's most likely you're deficient in magnesium like me.

    One of the most common issues with zinc absorption is that is share receptor for uptake with big brother iron. get you copper right and iron will be properly regulated. However, thats not easy when you take supplemental zinc than tanks your copper (through increased Metallothionein)

      What is a brand of ZMA that has mono-L-meth-thionine in it. I found that on is not the right form of zinc and now sorts has the right one by the b6 is dosed at 15mg rather than 10.5 dose that make a difference?

      Jim isn't the RDA for safe levels of zinc 15mg per day? I mean you want us to take 30mg a day plus were getting some from food isn't that counter productive, too much zinc is counter can weaken your immune system.

    I always quit ZMA cause I cant take the increased requirement of sleep and feeling super tired in the morning even with 8-9 hours sleep but now Im forcing myself to stay on it and after 2 weeks I've noticed a lot of strength in my shoulders which have always been my weakest points and Im so flipping happy

      It increases quality of sleep but it’s not a sleep aid. A sleep aid will help induce sleep like melatonin.

    Hey Jim, if taking ZMA before bed, should you avoid taking with Pro Jym? You say here that Pro Jym has a significant amount of Calcium, so wouldn't that interfere with the absorption of ZMA? I typically like to have some sort of casein before bed, so I'm just wondering how you would go about this if the calcium is affecting the ability to utilize the ZMA.

    Just make sure you don't drink alcohol when taking ZMA. Made that mistake last night and my heart rate went up to 140 bpm. Was not a fun night.

      do you workout? I'd say just start out with the protein, and with time if you're serious about your training get vita jym and ZMA... and if you're really serious get the fish oil... and if you're REALLY REALLY REALLY serious get the post Jym and active matrix.... anymore serious you'll buy a t shirt like me ^.^ lol

    Jim, can you do a video regarding soy? SO many conflicting arguments with soy and soy lecithin as of recent. A very good source said any soy product or anything using soy lecithin is raising estrogen levels. Another source said soy has no impact on estrogen levels. Pro Jym has soy lecithin so I think I know where you stand on this but could you PLEASE explain why?

    No offense but you really remind me of private cowboy off Full Metal Jacket.
    This is my rifle, this is my gun.
    But seriously people think ZMA is going to be a miracle muscle builder. ZMA works with the body to keep levels optimized. I have used Natures aid calcium Magnesium and Zinc for about 8 years as its cheaper and twice as potent.. When i started using it my strength levels did increase and i felt much better in myself. My skin cleared up and sleep really well and did not get a common cold for about 6 years as well. When i have run out of this product in the past my sleep did suffer and guess what i got sick . Chest infections you name it. ZMA is a rip off i suggest a colloidal zinc and magnesium supp .Or a high potency product for best absorption.

    It is true that you need zinc and magnesium. You say that you don't get it from whole foods but i could give you a list foods that has zinc and magnesium

      There's many articles by reputable health organizations, and even the food and agricultural organization has stated that people only absorb about 20-40% of the zinc they ingest in food. Meats are probably the best source of absorbed zic due to enzymes that help with absorption. However, white meat chicken is low. Dark meat, and grass fed beef are the best. Just Google it and read up on it. I was skeptical at first, but did my due diligence. Now zinc won't increase test if you're already receiving enough zinc. But if you're deficient, your test is lowered, so intaking the proper amount will get your test to where it needs to be for proper test levels and also aids in the metabolic process. Is it a huge gain, like a real test booster? No. But it doesn't hurt to get proper nutrient intake

      You probably don't need it at your age. I'm 37 & know I need it as my body doesn't recover like it used to. ZMA induces quality deep sleep which improves recovery rate. At 17, If you workout a lot, I would take it a few days post workout & see how it affects you.

    So when would be the right time to take your protein powder since it has calcium and it interferes with zinc and magnesium intake?
    What if I workout in the evenings and then an hour or 2 I go to bed? Should I drink my protein and wait to take the supplement? Or should I just take them both?
