Why are there thumbs down? They aren't welcome usually but have no purpose here. This man was & still is the greatest comedian I have ever watched on television in my lifetime.
@@smartidea2987 Andrew Phipps Philips didn't say that Dave Allen is/was the greatest comedian the rest of us ever watched. He simply stated that Dave Allen is/was the greatest comedian HE had ever watched
I completely agree. None known as good let alone better - ever. Not George Carling, Jasper Carrot early comedy, and they also were very good - only not as good as Dave, 😊👍
Loved his show , my late Dad and I rarely missed his show on Sunday nights on channel 11 in Chicago. I am Irish and former catholic and he still makes me smile and laugh loud! So sad to hear that he is gone now ; fortunately we have his shows to see on YT! Thank you !🤗👍
I've nearly sixty five years in this life...half Irish, (or perhaps a tad less...it's a long story), and half Sussex yeoman, this guy made me laugh more often than most...and since he's up against M&W, Freddy Star, Baddiel and Skinner, Bob Monkhouse and so many others, that's really saying something... David Tynan O'Mahony...you were a great man.... Another David
From another Aussie, he is indeed. Even more so when chatting with.him.one on one over coffee which I was fortunate enough to do on a couple of occasions in London back in the early.1990's.
Can you imagine what would have been like if Dave had been in father ted? Jeez the combination of Dave Allen and father ted would of been like a nuke going off
I don't know how far he would get nowadays as the politically correct idiots would cry out racist or some other stupid thing. He was simply a down to earth genius.
Sadly, with the over-reacting "moralists" we seem to have these days, I am afraid that if any of his shows would be broadcasted, there would be only one big bleep
My mam is 85, I just told her the holy water joke. It took two seconds for the penny to drop. Then she said, "feck off !!", can you get more Irish than that?
I remember watching him in my pj's on ABC with my parents in the 1970s. I can remember vividly. That pose, drink on the side, cigarette, strong stage lights and him perspiring, touching his forehead, skits and more. So many great tv shows then. Now, tv is shit and I don't watch it.
It was a perfectly valid question, especially for the times when new TV formats were being tested. My Aussie family adored him. Ireland being our roots. Tosser!
We really miss you Dave. RIP !
The finest comedian who has ever lived. Amazing!
In my opinion...Dave Allen is second only to Les Dawson!
@@markemsworth4235 100% agree
Les Dawson is shit compared to Dave Allen….Dave Allen is number 1

Best ever, totally hilarious and never out of date.
My favorite comedian ,back in the days!
Roll around on the floor stuff. My late Dad and I absolutely adored him. What an adlibber par excellence. What a gentleman ❤. RIP Dave Allen.

Andrew Phipps Phillips No Sir, he is not the greatest comedian the rest of us has ever watched. So mind your language.
Andrew Phipps Phillips He was one of the two best ever, truly miss him and George Carlin:( watch both of them, they were the best ever 👏👍🙏🏻💝

Imagine hearing and seeing a comedian these days, this funny and this well dressed? Allen was class and he was a class act.
Dave Allen and Billy Connolly the best story tellers.
Great storyteller and a real pro.
Truly 💯🙌
I absolutely loved watching his show, growing up and looking at it now I can remember the crush that I had on him!
He was very fanciable, wasn't he? Even when older.
@@angr3819 Oh yeah!! 🤤

Awh.. Those great golden days you could sit, drink and smoke on national television..

You use to talk to Dave Allen over coffee? How long did your nose grow???
I watched his show in Yugoslavia in 80s. I liked him very much.
I love him❤️ he’s the best ever👍😂😂😂
When comedians had wit, humour and style.
