I literally love just sitting here listening to James talk about his childhood. Just feels like I'm having a chat with an old friend, getting to know him better. Lol
They should add lofts into the game OR bunk beds for children and when the kid up top wakes up from a nightmare they hit their head so they get a sad moodlet from the nightmare and an uncomfortable one from hitting their head.
+Wolfie Games Its good but i feel like the apartments need a bit more privacy. If i had to sleep in a bed thats next to a gigantic window id feel uncomfortable.
I suggest, along with the necessary restaurants, skill-building shops, things of that nature, adding a shop that sells a bit of everything. Sorta like a pawn shop, or antique store.
As ladders you could use wall lights because they're are some that just look like metal bars. All you would need to do is always have them turned off 👍🏻😀
I mean, this is the third video of yours I've watched so I barely know anything about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed the laid-back coffee-drinking life-story-telling podcast-ish style you've got going on.
I want cars too, just to make houses have a garage and such. Yes they're not really needed but it could even be an ambient effect like you mentioned with Sims 3, it should get it's own aspiration or something even people collect vintage cars, it's so annoying having no driveway for homes they don't look like homes. I do understand some places don't have a garage and it's just a slab of concrete but that's still something >
***** One thing I liked doing with sims 2 was just slab driveways with a balcony type of thing over it but I can't do that now. Landscaping was nice too >< A yard shouldn't be super flat, I mean basements are easier to make but if I wanted say a raised flowerbed I can't do that lifting plants really only works with shrubs and hedges nothing else.
Loving this build, super into your loft ideas, and honestly, there is no age where someone wouldn't try to jump off for fun. As an idea for the tiny patios you could go the realistic route and put some storage items there. Realistic because in a lot of apartment buildings where people have tiny balconies they usually put boxes of things they're not using, stuff some furniture they want to give away, store a bike, or even put in a barbecue and nothing else. I like the idea you read out in the beginning where the common area could be designed like hobby rooms, just so it wouldn't be so hard to choose what to designate this build. PS, you put some walls and arches around the little greenhouse thing in the middle and personally I think it looked better without it, now it's sort of an enclosed space.
Because of the cars and so many other things, it's obvious why my favorite Sims game will always be Sims 3. It had pretty much everything the previous two games had, but it also had more amazing features. For example, open world, toddlers, create a style, pets, seasons and cars. In my own opinion (which you can agree or disagree with) Sims 4 was released too early. Some of the packs that they gave us were stuff that should've been in the base game.
I agree with you, there's ton of stuff that Sims 4 is missing which disappoints me a lot. What I mostly dislike is how they instead made them act very foolish and weird and kinda ruined the interactions. Specially the romantic ones. And how it's not a completely word open like Sims 3 is, I really enjoyed to be able to take my sims anywhere I wanted, not just a specific place like a restaurant, hospital etc.
+irrelevant boy I totally didn't think about the interaction that way. I mean, they always were a bit doofy but the romantic interactions are kind of bad when you think about it
Idk why but i didnt like the sims 3. I deleted sims 2 so i could install 3 and regretted it so much. i liked sims 2 and 4 the best even if it could have used more features in the base game and lacked open world i think it was still better than sims 3
hey James, I'm not sure but did you furnish the bathroom in the first apartment you built in this part? you may have gone back to it some time in the part/in the future but I noticed as you were building you didn't put any furniture in it :)
I love the casual voice over with the coffee sips and just blabbering. It's really chill. An art youtube called Mikey Mega Mega does something similar called Draw with Mikey where he shows a sped up recording of sketches and does a chill unedited voice over answering questions and describing his sketches and just drinking his tea. It's super relaxed and I like it when youtubers do that sort of thing.
You could build an indoor pool under one side of the apartments, that would be really cool, and then the other side could have like a cafe/bar area, and then a library/painting/computer zone for the residents to study and increase their skills!
I love when you do apartments. Part of it is that apartment living hits really close to home for me, but also because you get really creative with how you use the space. I love how you tailored each of the apartments to different kinds of lifestyles, and that you made apartments that had different furnishing and layouts. It has honestly made me really inspired to go build some for myself :)
I totally agree with you on the coffee part my mom WAITS for the coffee to cool down so she only drinks it when it's LUKEWARM and I'm like- no no no thats not how any of that works Edit: btw LOVED this I could totally live in any of these appartments especially the third or fourth one
Agreed! There are so many things they should bring from the Sims 2 to the Sims 4 >~< Like this build would be perfect for university life if you ask me!
Itz_MellowPotato please don't say things like that. Everyone here is meant to be over 13 to be using UA-cam at all, and it really breaks the illusion when someone admits they're not.
I do my ladders with two columns (I use those square ones from get together that are like one of the first ones) And then i use those arrow wall decals facing in opposite directions and hide the actual arrow tip behind the column that way it just looks like a straight like in the middle
one of the units on the bottom floor 'the one with the wall bump outs for the pool' should be a spa-with a hot tube a sauna , also put the long windows on the bump outs to make it look like a water fall, and the space in between put the bubble-wall thingy to make it even more water fallish, color theme light & dark brown & blue with bits of white & green
Love the childhood stories! You and Deligracy get me through my runs on the treadmill in the mornings. I'm so entertained I don't even dread the exercise. Love your videos and I can't wait to put this build in my game!
I love the building and decorating, but the commentary is equally good and interesting. Thanks for telling us your memories, really fun to listen to, and thanks James, for being awesome.
For the first two bedroom apartment: You should move the single bedroom door to the same corner as the front door, that way, you have a two square area to place a tv/table in between the bedroom doors. Then move the front door over one square to be next to the living room window. The couch can sit in front of the tv, but in the middle of the room so that it defines the living room from the dining area.
The irony of me watching this is that I'm watching at night. Also my little brother recently tried to ride a laundry basket down our stairs. It was hilarious XD
when i saw the title i thought this just a video on making apartment building with uniform rooms and that's it but you did so many different designs on the rooms and they're all looks sooo amazing this is so cool
I have watched a few of yoir videos before but i actually subscribed because of how you were just ranting about childhood stories and sipping a coffee, i love how happy and upbeat you are
James your stories from your childhood are priceless!!!!! Four days ago I fell off a bike and broke both bones in my wrist. I wasn't even going fast on my bike the reason I fell off was because I was going to slow and swerved and fell. It's funny now but it was really painful when it happened and I still might need surgery.
I watched the first part this morning and it inspired me to try and build my own apartment complex. Just got tired of it and took a break and you had uploaded the next part! Perfect timing!
Loved the childhood stories! I think UA-camrs can seem like these kind of odd, disembodied people who don't exist in the real world, kind of like teachers when you're a kid, you never imagine them having a life apart from the school; hearing about your life outside of UA-cam turns you into real people!
Sims need a living it up pack The pay side would be roof top living, rentals and apartment life. It is all about things like curved stairs ladders and loft spaces. Also rounded roofs and new pool layers.
The nummy sounds you made when drinking your coffee gave me the giggles every time 😁 My dad built a loft for my bed when my sister and i finally got seperate rooms. There was a ladder but i usually used the end of my dresser to climb up and then sort of just slid off the edge of my mattress to get out of bed. Good times.
around 10 min in when you started talking about coffee, that honestly made me smile and laugh. Thanks! You can be very entertaining for something so simple like coffee.
i love this complex! tiny apartments without things like living rooms and dining rooms or a bedroom without a door reminds me of my beautiful home city: nyc
"I'm surprised I didn't break my neck. I broke my arm twice." *facepalms* I know you elaborated and said you were young the first time, but my only thought was 'Once wasn't enough to learn?' X'D
I love your apartment builds! Ever since your collab with Deli on the apartment block, I've been looking forward to the next. Great job James, keep up the awesome builds!
It's funny that you mentioned the stair slide because me and my friends did the same thing in our air bnb apartment in Barcelona with 3 mattresses. Most fun we ever had there
Cicely dcx they work but the windows are faded an blurry around the window edged on my game but that's it but there is a mod that has cars you can "travel" with but you can't drive them
Havin' my coffee, too, cheers. I really love your developing use of color, it's a party in me eyeballs! The kids loft is so cute. My son was a jumper off-er, too, and I myself remember jumping from the barn loft into the hay pile, quite a rush, that. Neither of us broke a bone, but I did slam my tiny toe in a door, youuuchh! It's fun hearing about your life as a boy, or any of for that matter, I don't mind it a bit.
Some ideas for the basement floor of this complex could include stuff like a gym, a grocery store, a rec room or common space (with games and stuff), a cafe/restaurant with an attached second basement which could be a club (you could call it The Cellar). Great build so far, can't wait to see it finished!
I strongly support the idea of them selling mattresses, bed frames and sheets separately, so you can have a quality mattress and have it look how you want
I get so tired of every house having the same bed, same armchair, same sofa - at least they all match, but I'm in base game only and there is basically one only top rated item in each category, and they all look exactly like my great-grandmother's choice of furnishings.
Every time you took a sip of your coffee, it reminded me to drink mine before it went cold. Cars in the Sims 4 should work similar to Sims 2, I think anyway. Love this series! Can't wait until apartments can function as actual apartments in the game like in Sims 2 & 3
The apartments should be rainbow, so one red then the next orange, then yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink. Like with the feature walls and such. Is this too late? Sorry! 😁😅
For the communal Space you could try a Canteen and maybe a Bar or for the new "City Life" Expansion (Before it comes out) do a Secret Underground Party Area
The first apartment you furnished in this episode was so classy it didn't have a bathroom
Fiona Nguyen oml that’s true 😂
Fast forward 2 years, now sim gurus don't believe in toilets
Watch Part 3.
It’s 2021 sims cats and dogs
I feel so confident about my builds and then I watch your videos and I'm like...never mind lmao
Just get really good at CAS because he darn sure can't do that hahaha
Same, false inspiration😂😂😂
love the name max power.
So true😂
Wow, even the super sim Max Power feel insecure... Heuheu
I literally love just sitting here listening to James talk about his childhood. Just feels like I'm having a chat with an old friend, getting to know him better. Lol
You can use the pool ladder just stack them
He needs to see this
ik
I thought of when i was playing the sims and someone else did the pool ladder
we gotta get this to the top ASAP
I just thought about this!!
Maybe you can a community rooftop garden since they all don't have much of a outdoor space.
This is a great idea
They should add lofts into the game OR bunk beds for children and when the kid up top wakes up from a nightmare they hit their head so they get a sad moodlet from the nightmare and an uncomfortable one from hitting their head.
shuduhpoke7 that would look on the bottom bunk too because I used to hit my head on the top bunk when I was in the bottom bunk
oh you mean so children are even more annoying at night? 😂
~ 3 years later ~
bunk beds are a thing nowww lol
im more of a listener than a talker so your builds are so fun to watch and listen to. i feel like were at a sleepover hahaha
This might be my new favorite build, James! It's coming together really well.
ikr!
+Wolfie Games Its good but i feel like the apartments need a bit more privacy. If i had to sleep in a bed thats next to a gigantic window id feel uncomfortable.
+Emil Pravica what about curtains 😆😉
Second that!
I suggest, along with the necessary restaurants, skill-building shops, things of that nature, adding a shop that sells a bit of everything. Sorta like a pawn shop, or antique store.
this is a fantastic idea!
Long too late now, I know, but I was thinking a laundromat. At least a space with several washing machines and dryers.
You forgot to put bins in the studio apartments.
Bins... James is known for forgetting them haha
+Lydia Loverin (WowIt'sLydia) thank you 👏👏
+Lydia Loverin (WowIt'sLydia) thank you 👏👏
+Strawberry Pocky I am literally eating strawberry picky right now
Strawberry Pocky Don't worry. I only had one box. My sister ate the rest ;(
me: ( sleeping while watching..)
him: HOWEVER!!
me: HAH?! wait.. wait what?..
As ladders you could use wall lights because they're are some that just look like metal bars. All you would need to do is always have them turned off 👍🏻😀

Whoa! You replied to a comment on a 2-year old video!
"broke my arm... good times"
"broke my knee... good times"

Hopefully they'll be in the new expansion pack "city stuff" I think that's what it's called
You can scale up toy cars xx
Cicely Dale-Clarke We want them to function if only like sims 3 as something in background but not necessarily function like in sims 2.

I love listening to u when I'm working on the house
Those coffee sips XD
hey James, I'm not sure but did you furnish the bathroom in the first apartment you built in this part? you may have gone back to it some time in the part/in the future but I noticed as you were building you didn't put any furniture in it :)
I'm not done watching but that's also something I noticed and bothered me lol
yea I realised it as well
I was trying to figure that out too.
And a dresser
I don't he furnished it considering there was no door to that bathroom
I love the casual voice over with the coffee sips and just blabbering. It's really chill. You ain't lived until you've gone down the stairs in a sleeping bag. Way faster than a mattress. Best thing ever.
I don't know you James but I do enjoy listening your childhood stories. "Good times" 😂
Sims 4: Loft Life
Ambrosia Rae yes
Ambrosia Rae be careful because they would create it and make it cost 40 dollars😂😂
In Sweden it would be like 60 usd😂
Ambrosia Rae coming to games near you in November 2018 😂
We wish
I totally agree with you on the coffee part my mom WAITS for the coffee to cool down so she only drinks it when it's LUKEWARM and I'm like- no no no thats not how any of that works

also different staircase types and seasons are necessary 😜
Agreed! There are so many things they should bring from the Sims 2 to the Sims 4 >~< Like this build would be perfect for university life if you ask me!
+That Girl Ecee yess!!!! i was just talking about that on the previous video; a bunch of apartments like these would be perfect for a campus
I wish they would've just released seasons in the sims (2?) base game cause then they probably wouldnt have charged us for an ep
+Psychotic Muffin your username should come with a warning. WARNING:THIS USERNAME MAY CAUSE YOU TO DIE OF LAUGHTER. 😂
Those childhood feelings
Even tho im just 9 it feels like im getting old so quickly and i luv your vids just subbed
Itz_MellowPotato please don't say things like that. Everyone here is meant to be over 13 to be using UA-cam at all, and it really breaks the illusion when someone admits they're not.

I *adore* that first massive apartment. The teal + yellow combo looks great.

James for stairs u could use a diving board kind of thing in the pool section.
I think it's from get together
I love the building and decorating, but the commentary is equally good and interesting. Thanks for telling us your memories, really fun to listen to, and thanks James, for being awesome.

In the kids loft apartment in the loft instead of that blue thing make it a dresser so it's extra useful and use the space nicely
when i saw the title i thought this just a video on making apartment building with uniform rooms and that's it

on the first floor you could add a indoor pool, that would be cool!
I have watched a few of yoir videos before but i actually subscribed because of how you were just ranting about childhood stories and sipping a coffee, i love how happy and upbeat you are
james just fyi I have had a loft bedroom since I was 6 years old. I haven't ever gotten hurt because I know not to jump off the fricken loft
I felt like I was on a first date this episode. Wanna go on a second one James? :P
If that date doesn't work out, James call me 😉😉
so true
Lol same
IF the other date doesn't work out, James you know who to call next.
and if that doesn't work out..... well i think he gets the jist of it :D
I watched the first part this morning and it inspired me to try and build my own apartment complex. Just got tired of it and took a break and you had uploaded the next part! Perfect timing!
Anyone else super exited for the Sims 4 City life??
Hopefully it comes with vampires
🙋🏼
Wait, is it comfirmed?!
+Otaku Sims Go on Iron Seagulls youtube channels, he's spoke all about it!!
i just hope thats true
Loved the childhood stories! I think UA-camrs can seem like these kind of odd, disembodied people who don't exist in the real world, kind of like teachers when you're a kid, you never imagine them having a life apart from the school; hearing about your life outside of UA-cam turns you into real people!
I used to slide down the stairs in my duvet. It helped a lot having wooden stairs XD
Haha, nice! I never did anything like that, but my brothers used to slide down the stairs inside sleeping bags
That sounds Awesome!
I used to use my sleeping bag and push my 3 year old sister down the carpeted stairs (she's 10 now) and she got a concussion
i would use a sleeping bag to look like jabba the hut and slide down the stairs
This is both fascinating and satisfying. I usually play the sims only for the building anyway, it's almost cathartic.
my brother once took the mattres off my bed and slid down the stairs on it. He broke his ankle.
Oh, I hope you guys were okay!
+Hannah Carroll yeah, it was years ago
Sims need a living it up pack The pay side would be roof top living, rentals and apartment life. It is all about things like curved stairs ladders and loft spaces. Also rounded roofs and new pool layers.
James: I hate school plays.
*now works as an entertainer
Coming together and looking super! Below how about: coffee shop/bakery; small bar, corner-type grocery, newspaper outlet...
And art Easel or the children's toy box could fit on the 1x4 balcony's maybe even the 1x1 Barbecue
The nummy sounds you made when drinking your coffee gave me the giggles every time 😁
My dad built a loft for my bed when my sister and i finally got seperate rooms. There was a ladder but i usually used the end of my dresser to climb up and then sort of just slid off the edge of my mattress to get out of bed. Good times.
if you put the shelves across the wall on a diagonal it would look like steps
around 10 min in when you started talking about coffee, that honestly made me smile and laugh. Thanks! You can be very entertaining for something so simple like coffee.
"I don't understand what safety is at 3. So I feel like that's not my fault" 😂 as I'm telling my 3 year old to quit jumping off the couch..
i love this complex! tiny apartments without things like living rooms and dining rooms or a bedroom without a door reminds me of my beautiful home city: nyc
"I'm surprised I didn't break my neck. I broke my arm twice." *facepalms* I know you elaborated and said you were young the first time, but my only thought was 'Once wasn't enough to learn?' X'D
Lol took me one time to learn
Long body pillow and wooden stairs bad combination lol!
Could have been a fluke the first time. Had to do it again to be sure.
I love your apartment builds! Ever since your collab with Deli on the apartment block, I've been looking forward to the next. Great job James, keep up the awesome builds!
We used to slide down the stairs in sleeping bags.
Me too!
Footie pajamas are made for sliding down stairs
We used to put mattresses on the stairs and slide down 😂
It's funny that you mentioned the stair slide because me and my friends did the same thing in our air bnb apartment in Barcelona with 3 mattresses. Most fun we ever had there
You could put the small 1X1 barbecue on the balconies
I love hearing the stories and just you talking. It's really entertaining for me for some reason
You should do a final test once everything is completed and maybe just do a video for that. This way no one can say you never tested it!!
i love your videos because theyre not heavily edited and you just talk about random things and its so entertaining
Who else wishes that they were childhood best friends with James??
I would live in any of these lofts TBH. They are really cute and quaint! I love your creativity!!!
For a car you can always scale up a toy car? (Obviously only for looks)
he said that the toy cars are too blurry scaled up :/
+Catherine Miner oh whenever I do it they never come up to blurry, oh well I see where he's coming from xx
Cicely dcx they work but the windows are faded an blurry around the window edged on my game but that's it but there is a mod that has cars you can "travel" with but you can't drive them
You’re really good at commentating what is happening. You have a good voice for this.
Who else was waiting ? :o :p
me! didn't realize it until he mentioned the time and coffee lol
meh
me!
Fascinated by your childhood - so typical of where I lived - London!
“This space was not easy to furnish” 😭 my whole kitchen & living room is that size skksskjs
edit: 8:14
THANK YOU!!! Someone understands hot coffee is not as good when it gets cold. I'm glad you said that. I felt alone on this.
You forgot to put bathroom plumbing in the orange classy studio apartment.
The build is absolutely amazing! And we need more childhood stories, they are very interesting!
Can you try to build a hotel and have deligracy furnish it??? Please please please
Normally watching people build stuff and talk bores me but your vids are
Never boring 💛
those fold down shelves look like you could just run your hand down it and they would lay flat that would be so cool
That would be so cool
Also that you could step on it and it could potentially fold and you'd break your neck.
Well there would be a support underneath I meant it to be steps that fold down
I think folding up would probaly be a safer idea. And it would totally be cool for people who are not scared of hights.
Emily T. Two types of people 😂
The kids loft is my favorite part of this whole build! Excellent
every time you take a drink of coffee i think someone is calling me on skype because it goes quiet lmao
Put an easel on the little balconies
Some ideas for the basement floor of this complex could include stuff like a gym, a grocery store, a rec room or common space (with games and stuff), a cafe/restaurant with an attached second basement which could be a club (you could call it The Cellar). Great build so far, can't wait to see it finished!
Does anyone else find the $12,000 bed really ugly? It's supposed to be all classy but I just think it looks so tacky D:
Or 12,000 simoleon bed
I hate that bed because it never fits in with other furniture that I usually use :/
I hate that bed because it never fits in with other furniture that I usually use :/

Ahh this build is perfect for university life! That was fun times in Sims 2... Hope they make it for the Sims 4 as well!!
Add a movie theather! :D
I love the blue and yellow. You’re really good at home design, Wrow.
Why not do a Duplex house build next?
Every time you took a sip of your coffee, it reminded me to drink mine before it went cold. Cars in the Sims 4 should work similar to Sims 2, I think anyway.
Love this series! Can't wait until apartments can function as actual apartments in the game like in Sims 2 & 3
what about laundry?
I lost two hours of my life watching your videos and questioning my life choices. You are extremely talented and entertaining. Your builds are insane.
If I tried to build this it wouldn't work :D
I'd give up after 2 minutes 😂😂
I did that

That would be cool
For the communal Space you could try a Canteen and maybe a Bar or for the new "City Life" Expansion (Before it comes out) do a Secret Underground Party Area
