    I think the fact that you blended the penthouse into the building is why this is my fav City Living build I've seen. I think the penthouse lots where it looks like a house are so ridiculous. Well done, James!!!

    • @AlexaFaie
      @AlexaFaie 8 років тому +28

      10-20 years ago, if he had been 22 and sat in his room playing games, it wouldn't be considered "having your life together" because it wasn't so much a way you could make a living. James is successful because he does what he does at a time when it's possible to reach so many people that the game makers recognise how much you could drive sales up for their products. He works hard to put the content together, but just the slightest bit of difference in his life and it may never have happened like this. If he had never broken his knee, he may never have ended up being a UA-cam personality.
      Also its very important never to measure your success or amount done in life in comparison to someone else. We all develop and grow at different rates. Some take longer than others to find their "calling" and some never do and it's all ok. Instead, look at how much you have grown compared to yourself. You can certainly work towards reaching a more "together" life, but don't beat yourself up if you are not there yet. It's also very easy to look at an edited snapshot of someone else's life and assume that they have it together a lot more than they actually do. Not saying that is true of James, but more in the general sense. You see all of your life, you only see a carefully chosen snippet of someone else's. I'm sure if I had been filmed for the past few years you could edit it to look like I'm a fully functioning adult human instead of a dysfunctional bipolar disorder ridden mess. A lot of editing, but you could do it. ;) We are where we are, as long as we keep moving forward, it doesn't matter what pace we have to travel at.

    A swimming pool like that probably has at least an inch of glass. Especially the ones that have Windows to the exterior of a building and are often bullet proof as well. Not that you should be shooting bullets in them.

    I really like this build. It was a lot less monochrome than what you often do, but not over the top colourful.
    Speaking of the danger of having a pool on the top of a building like that, if the glass breaks, maybe it wasn't the best idea to put the basket ball hoop facing the glass pool wall. Every time someone misses the hoop the ball is going to hit the glass, I don't like the sound of that repeated stress damage.

  • @hayleymar
    @hayleymar 8 років тому +35

    Really liked this build--you tried some new things when it came to interior decoration and it definitely showed.
    Just one bit of feedback--with the new youtube outro feature of suggesting other videos before the video actually ends... it covered up the shots of the floorplan and made it harder to see. If there could be a way to include a more superfluous shot or something after the screenshots, so instead that one could be partially covered... I dunno, I hope I'm making sense here.

Your builds are always so nice and damn near perfect, lol, but I think working with the given buildings in apartments is almost a bit of a... I don't want to say challenge, but, it does add a bit of preexisting point to have to work with. I've swum in one of those infinity pools in bangkok before! it was on top of a 20-or-so story building, and you could look out to all the other skyscrapers whilst swimming. The side that was facing the city had a glass wall. It was so awesome! But it definitely wasn't as fancy as the one you built haha, it was small and not that deep at all. I think it was like 3 m by 7 m, and 1.2 m deep.

    I'm so sorry about your knee! I broke my thumb when I was 9 in an ice-skating accident. I shattered the growth plate in it and had to see an orthopedic surgeon, wear a cast for 4 months, wear a sling, and I couldn't write. Now one thumb is about 2/3 of an inch shorter than the other but at east it works. While I'm sure that what I went through hurt quite a bit less than what happened to you, I just wanted to let you know that I care and that I understand what it's like to have a painful bone injury. I hope you made a full recovery and that it hasn't given you any problems since! Have a wonderful day!

    The reason people couldn't play the sim3 was because of all the options for colors and open worlds. They gave us everything you're complaining of wanting and it broke the game. It was unplayable after a while even on well made gaming computers. The sims 4 is made to be compatible with a variety of computers and players. We can't have playability and everything we want. I'll sacrifice color swatches for playability any day.

    I got a small penthouse on the same lot for one of my 'Snobert' family member Sizzle and her alien husband Glaxian. It small now but I plan to expand it when something new arises in their life. I done this before with her grandfather Stan Snifferman who was a woodworker. the story goes he built the whole house and in the end it and it was a mansion. I admit doing it that way was fun. So I'm going to do the same with the Snoberts throughout their lifetime with this penthouse.
    I will admit I do like your design. :)

    There's this cool hotel I stayed right in downtown St. Louis with a pool out in the open on the 31st or 32nd floor! It gets windy, but it was cool. And, you climb up these stairs that go around this taller section that holds all the equipment, you go around to a balcony that overlooks the Mississippi River and the Arch is almost right in front of you! It was cool.

    I live in a penthouse on the 33rd floor in Miami and had the exact same problem of figuring out where to put my TV in a room completely filled with windows. It ended up blocking part of an amazing view of the Ocean. Also, basketballs falling from the sky is kinda no bueno. Patio furniture as well is really dangerous. Most people don't secure it and if a good wind storm comes through you loose pretty much everything. Learned that the hard way.
