- What's a bow you have always been interested in, men has been the mcphearson monster safari by Mathews since the first day I picked up a bow. Mathews is known for the craftsmanship and this bow did not disappoint. From the top to the bottom it is truly a work of art. Not to mention is the fastest bow we have reviewed to date by a long shot.
I’ve been shooting my mr6 for 11 / 12 ish years with 80lbs limbs absolutely love it. Still stock same strings and all. The draw cycle can be a little aggressive at times. I’ll soot about 150 arrows in a day about 3-4 times a week. It’s a work out! But it shoots dead straight all the time.
This bow back then was pretty much the same as the safari. And it is a solid, semi heavy bow. I’ll have it forever 👍
What a gnarly bow!
Might thoughts exactly
I've been shooting the Safari for 5 years and I still love it!
That’s the feedback I’ve got from most hunters that purchased the safari
That is awesome bow. How do you hunt. Ground blinds. Spot and stalk. Or tree stands
This bow is a classic. That bow is fast. I love my v3x 29.
Mathews bows are usually half inch on the long side with draw length. Glad to finally see a review on this monster safari
Thoroughly enjoyed reviewing this one
Does that mean if you shoot a 28.5" Matthew's that it's closer to 29" if measured physically?
I love mine also being 31inch draw length, not too many speed bows go to 31inch draw, I agree with your review on the grip and it is a heavy bow but the longer axel to axel and the weight make it a very steady platform, when you up the poundage the draw is the same as in smooth, but is harder to pull, I also love my Bowtech insanity cpx 70 to 80lb, easy to pull back but not a bow that's pleasent to let down, the safari is a dream to let down, great review
I just bought my safari, and at a 30 inch draw it is by far the best bow I’ve ever owned. I’m most likely never getting another bow ever again
Prolly won’t need to
looks like the monster chill with the creed in one bow
wish they would bring back the z7 extreme
Keep up good work man great reviews ! I’m currently shooting pse driver r 2016 , time for upgrade Ventum pro 30 or V3x 29 I think my do is only 28” don’t have single shop here in Scotland , so reviews are really helpful , wish I could try them before buy…
That’s def a tough position to be in, I always recommend buying before purchasing, I can honestly say either of those bows would not disappoint
I feel your pain mate, I live in the capital city of Australia and there is not one bow shop within an hour and a half of me so I had to buy a bow press to do the simplest of things like tuning or putting in a peep, It sucks!!!
@@BackyardBows thanks ! Also there is that DL issue i shoot pse at 28 and Hoyt is up to 28 hope measure like pse … and Mathews… everyone says they are half inch long… all this give you more to think… 🤔
@@saransmith8773 same had to get press and learn how to do things and build arrows just more expenses but have to say I do enjoy it and feel better to know insides of your bow and arrows hehe
I have the V3X 29. My brother has the Hoyt Ventum Pro 30. Both are so sweet.
At least a South African Safari is pretty cool weather since it is winter there when you go...,
I have one of those too at Mathews Safari at 85lbs. Nice bow, the only thing that is NOT timeless is missing a hard back wall longer valley. I will keep mine forever too though, I harvested a Wildbeast and Giraffe with mine. You can turn down an 85lb bow to a mid 70lb too. I turned mine down my Safari to 76lbs and compared it to my 76 lb V3X29 here - ua-cam.com/video/ClFxVTzFRwQ/v-deo.html
Is this different than the Monster XLR8?
Beautiful bow. Thank you for sharing!
Yes different bow completely
I want one
I want to shoot one of these so bad. I have an original Mcpherson series monster from 2009 and really it still shoots as fast as the new bows. I am curios to see how it compares to this safari bow
Honestly I always wanted to since I started hunting, and I can say it did not disappoint in anyway, there is nothing that compares
When/IF I ever hit the lottery lol.. I'll have one of these in 85# config 🤘 I don't know why I say that when I drop $2500 on an optic w/o even thinking about it haha
I will never let mine go
I think the speed varies because the back wall is pretty easy to pull past.

I’m excited for u 😂
@@BackyardBows I can’t wait
@@BackyardBows I got my Safari in today it’s awesome
What kind of sight do you use ?
Most reviews we use a trophy ridge react cause it is so simple to move from bow to bow and site in, I’m using a cbe trek 3pin on my hunting set up
So you recommend this bow over a 100lb apa, or 84lb pse Mach 34 carbon? Trying to decide.
I have my elite energy 34 @ 84lbs for last 6 years or so.
Or anything else you can recommend, I been shooting long bow for last few years at 100lbs so getting back into compound.
I recommend that bow over most especially if your going to shoot a 80# DW
So it's bearly as fast as an Omnia, not nearly as dead in the hand, and costs 1000 more...I'll stick to the Omnia. Even the APA DG seems like a better bow based on what you said in this review.
It’s a def a bow for someone who 2g is chump change
