- Fun game I caught on the ladder. It showcases the new Dalkarl pikeman from Sweden which when they get their Industrial upgrade cost 25 food and 25 wood, which is just insane honestly!

Once again, kudos to the devs for making unique models for Royal Guard units.
Look at 19:53 Rohbrot had like 7 culverins and somehow sweeden got rid of them, that was the decisive fight i think, left him without artillery at all and had to stop that push
The ships took out the culvs. I was screaming when I saw them grouped up and on the coast.

As a Swede, Dalkarl means "valley man" if literally translated. But it more accurately means "A man from the county Dalarna"
If you were to pronounce it the L is silent and the A's are pronounced more like the A in "Walmart"
The skin of the unit in game also represent traditional Swedish clothes from the region. :)
Those Swedes pikes remind me AoE2 late game hussar spam, you set the gather point into enemy ecos and smash the production😂😂

AoE3 has the most fun Hybrid combat I've seen, I like it even more than Starcraft
It's the guard upgrade that makes them cheaper.
Probably Royal Guard Age 4 to make the Pikeman upgrade free
But yeah, the low cost is thanks the Royal Guard upgrade. Portuguese have a similar thing with their Crosbowmen (Ordinance Besteiros are pretty good)

(not a sweden main, i think you just get the upgrade cheaper from the Age Up, but Dalkarl Pikes have their strength in being cheap, reduced cost to 25 / 25. Noone other than the Legend plays an entire Industrial Game around a trash unit.)
Im going off on a walk here again for my main man Osteo.
Rohbrot is great, he is also german and i can sympathize alot with him.
But whether or not Osteo is a toxic man (never met him idk), his way of playing is pure art.
Ask yourself this: how annoying is it, to manage your base while being ran over like that? 12:04
The madlad planned the whole fckin thing. He doesnt just have the balls of everything you explained @lion, but he wanted to live his life in those ruins.
Some Caroleans to mimic a meta game, hoarding like he never did before and just collecting all possible ressources in the timeframe given by Rohbrot.
Dont know if this point is a accidental win, but those pikemen counter rods alot, just because rods cant kite the pikes. Ressource efficieny off the board for sweden. So he hardcounters Rohbrots fav unit, if he manages to get into the 4th Age alive.
As Rohbrot sat in his Osteos base swingin, the world seemed to just go slow mo for him. He had 0 interest in his base, even his minutemen arrived drunk and didnt care. It was just abit more time for him.
All he did was play perfection. Relying on the Fog of War, having his boats as economy and escapism so unnoticed.
Losing your TC more than once, playing it all out for 1 Unit that gets only recruited from barracks.
Thats so mental, anti meta and gigachad, noone can compare in my eyes. Absolutely, Noone.

If Charcot is Osteo for sure and you red my shitty lines this far mate.. Bless your Lions heart that you cover him for me, for us. I adore him and i wish he´d knew, that there are some appreciating him more than he can imagine.

- i dont think Osteo cared about a factory, its placement or any h.cannon really. Spain only has falcs left, at that point. no horse can withstand those pikes, no melee unit can be produced fast enough to outspam the pikes. So if Osteo knows his own weakness, then he knows Spains only win condition. So in order to not lose against a random, swedish culverine squad, Spain has to send his own culverines to defend the falconets. It was just in the Swedish hand to either push anti artillery or outspam. Aw man cant get enough of this.

I'm not sure why Rohbrot stubbornly kept making Rodos: wouldn't skirms or even x-bos have been a better counter to (even the most advanced) pikes?
Difficult to change macro and invest in the upgrades for them at that point I guess

Sweden can get pikes to 6,25 speed or even more
5 base speed. +0.5 from the arsenal, +0.5 from the church card makes 6 in total. Another 0.5 if you revolt to finland

I nerver seemed sweden go pikes...... in previous version sweden pikes just not that good , just go caroleans and more caroleans , but the new royal guard cheap price darkarl pikes compeletly changed the situations , now the darkarl pikes maybe the best pikes in the game now just because of the cost effience , it beats the german and spanish pikes at the end!!😘😘😘
