Was a fantastic match. I really had to fight for it. I’m so glad I studied this matchup. You played insane. Anybody who says sec con isn’t skill based doesn’t know what they are talking about.
At locals the last 2 weeks. Sec con fighting for my life. Barely took first both weeks. Everyone was getting saltly about sec con. From my end I was having to math out every turn.
I played against Peter last year in the in-person Ultimate Cup at Nationals. We did all 3 games of the security control mirror in 8 minutes flat. Phenomenal player, was rooting for him to win it all but I'm happy he made it as far as he did. Well deserved.
Great profile but good god the CONSTANT snapping of the cards was driving me insane. I know a lot of players fidget with cards but this was next level during a deck profile
Sec con is frustrating not because its "no skill" but bc its a deck building puzzle. You spend the whole time on the deck builder looking for options that are good in the format so you can invalidate the opponents decks. Most people are bad at playing into sec con bc sometimes your deck isnt meant to beat a style of deck that honeslty is an oversight. No shade to the player bc he built the list for the event and playing 10 rounds isnt easy plus top cut, however its not his game to win its rather his opponents game to lose. More and more decks these days have ways to beat sec con but the deck plays on a different axis and unless you know how to beat the minigame its awful not because you got "outplayed " but literally because its random chance. Look at the finals game you can argue that it was down to luck since his last security game 3 was a digimon. If you wanna keep playing sec con i dont think you want to play digimon. The memory gauge is one of the most interesting card game mechanics and the reason many people tried and stuck with digimon, sec con players would have more fun playing mahjong or something lmao. The worst part is that some players have the personality of a wet flip flop and get off on people being miserable playing against the deck, obviously this doesnt apply to all players. My point it that if you actually good at the game, why handicap yourself by playing sec con?
Everyone’s version of fun with this TCG is measured differently yours is not with sec con, his is. “If you wanna keep playing sec con I don’t think you want to play Digimon” is an insanely biased opinion as well. You’re speaking for and about these players but I have a feeling you’re not one of them. I don’t think you meant anything hostile by your long comment but it was a very strange read.
Would you say Blue MTG players don't want to play MTG cause they just negate plays, or runick, not playing yugioh? Most people would find playing against Anubis miserable and even more oppressive.
@@Pawnchan Its not that Sec Con, and Blue MTG players don't want to play their games, its that their decks and play style are the reason new and average players of their games don't want to keep playing their games. The whole gameplay loop is not letting people have fun, and nobody wants to play into that, except at the highest level who like the mind games. And Anubis is miserable to play into with its repetitive value loop, thats why it already got banned out of existence (personally i think having nats on EX5 format was a mistake, it should have been played on BT14). Sec-con is a style, that is much harder to ban away, but the game would be much healthier if it didnt exist.
@@LaundroMATT_it wasn't about the player specifically, it was more about the style of deck that sec con is. Congrats to him, he brought the right pick for the event, one of those best deck in the format vs best deck for the event situations.
@@PawnchanI agree with the anubis statement, I never said anubis was balanced or enjoyable to play against. There is a reason why we get limited time with the card.
To be fair that deck is what made sec con a good call into the meta so he lost a favorable matchup, 2nd is still good but Bryce adapted his game plan games 2/3 and was rewarded for it

Congrats Bryce, you played amazing and adapted to Pete's deck well in games 2 & 3.
We love to see Peter showing out for all of the NYC Digimon players! Hopefully we can catch some of his games here in Brooklyn in the near future!

Congrats on being the world champ! I have the best bragging rights at my locals now.
Watched the finals live, one of the best sets of Digimon I had the pleasure of watching. Well played 💪🏽
ShadowSeraphimon is probably one of the craziest level 6s ever printed
Congrats on the second place. I watch the finals and the match was crazy. I also really like the deck list and the tech choices.
