Grew up about 2 blocks from this place, 28th & Wells. Best damn steak sandwich this side of the the globe! Their fries are pretty damn good as well. Live out of state now, damn I miss their food!!!
You can get this in authentic Mexican restaurants. It's dressed differently. They call it Milanesa and usually they have a choice of steak or chicken. Mexican French bread sandwiches are called tortas. We have a Mexican store, restaurant and bakery that has fantastic French bread and fantastic tortas. I eat them all the time.
This place is the definition of comfort food for all true Chicagoans!! PS: Cops LOVE the place. You'll always feel safe, even tho it's in a slightly shadier part of the city. THE CHICKEN VESUVIO SANDWICH (sangwich!) is where it's at. Most love the steak sammy, but the vesuvio is a hidden gem. 💎
Tom just had a Birthday and is retiring end of month, don't know where I'll get a decent weather report much less a lesson in meteorology,but I know where to get a sammy
