How would it be possible to not like this guy? He is making love, not sandwiches. You have to love what you do, to make quality. Just watching, you can tell this is a great sandwich.
I like Al's and Michael's for their hot girdeinrea, but Johnnie's beef is the best to me. I wouldn't even be shocked if people would go to Al's or Michael's just for the girdeinrea and put it on a Johnnie's beef. It sounds crazy, but people do that for Uncle Remus and Harold's over mild sauce.
growing up in Elmwood Park 50s-60s, we always went to Johnnies on North Ave. for their great beef sandwiches, and on Fridays we would get their pepper and egg sandwich..
I lived across the street from Al's on Taylor street for 2 years. I was there almost weekly. In fact, I am going to get into my car and head there now.................
Business 101. Give the customer WHAT THEY WANT. This owner is doing exactly that. People want the nastalgia and he gives it to them too. Excellent video.
This guy is the epitome of a Chicago accent. I moved to Wisconsin when I was 13. I didn’t understand when people said I had an accent. I don’t have it until I visit relatives.
Al is spot on about assuming the Italian Stance....otherwise the front of your garment will have drippings on it. A Beef is a fun, messy meal like barbecued ribs slathered in sauce, but you gotta be careful or everyone will know you just ate.
Please don’t give me wrong no offense, but I do not like LB beef like Portillos beef. Patel is better. I always like Portillos the best hotdog sandwiches.
A few days ago I ordered Al’s Italian beef. The flavor was off, there was noticeably less meat and if that wasn’t bad enough Al’s has made some changes unbeknownst to the customer. The Big Beef is now served on the Regular sized bread and the Regular beef is now half of the regular sized bread. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the price. So you will pay for a Big Beef price for a Regular Beef sandwich and so on. Initially I thought there had to be some kind of mistake with my order so I checked into it and no there was no mistake. To be clear I understand a restaurant can make changes to their menu or prices as they choose but, to not let the customers know and continue to charge Big prices for Regular sandwiches is deceptive. I mean after all it’s Al’s Beef. People would probably continue to buy it if they had raised the prices rather than switch the sizes. The standard rule of thumb is a regular Italian beef, hoagie, or Philly steak is 6” and a large, big or footlong is 12”.
@Whatamidoinghere262 Serrellis on north Ave and Oak Park Ave, on the chicago side is better than Johnnies, and for sausage it's a must.. would never turn down a johnnies if I was hungry
Ripoff. $11 for a three inch sandwich $20 for a 7 inch sandwich . The Patio on Taylor Street has a much better Italian Beef sandwich at half the price !!!
@solo741 That’s not the price of anything. 3 lbs of sirloin tips for $10. 75 cents for Italian. Dressing and 50 cents for a roll Are you an ole Timey chimney sweeper $3 a pound sirloin and the rest of your prices. Yiu may as well pay a homeless bum to pick out of his garbage he collected for your bargain.
@@oldironsides4107 Jewel has BOGO on sirloin tip at least once a month. That is the right price on the zesty Italian dressing packets which you can also get BOGO at Jewel. The rolls I gave you the price of a single roll but you can get a pack of 6 for $1.50 so a single roll is actually .25. Giardiniera is the only one that is difficult to find on sale but you have to buy in bulk when it is. Remember that this guy is also buying in bulk and I think he makes his own giardiniera if I’m remembering the video right, so even if he’s paying $5 a pound, which is doubtful, he’s still paying less than $20 for a 3 pound batch.

I love Al's Beefs. They are sandwich is always delicious, and yes, the giardiniera is top notch!
Id drive from Milwaukee just to have one of these and meet Al...............

Johnnie’s is phenomenal. Haven’t compared it to Al’s but I think that’s a must next time I’m in Chicagoland.

Doze Cheeseheads got a accent too, ya know ?
Ya hey der. 😂
Mr. Beef is #1 in my book, but Al's and Johnnie's are close. I love how Al's owner doesn't care who's got the best Italian beef.
The owner is adorable!💕 and I'm a Philly girl! 😅
Al’s is the best, super super close 2nd is Johnnie’s. Can’t go wrong with either, both are outstanding.
Serrellis finer food's on North ave. Over 85+years in making the best Italian beef.
Al is spot on about assuming the Italian Stance....otherwise the front of your garment will have drippings on it.

This is how a damn legend talks what a don!
Great guy, better beef at Johnnies!
I need to have this experience at least one time.

You definitely hit the right spot Al's 🔥🔥💯
I just want to meet him. Great Guy
THE best beef in Chicago!
I like Portillo gravy but AL meat is better quality. But per lb, Al is about $10 more.
Love the story ❤
Frannies in Schiller Park.
Everytime is THE best beef I've ever had.
That guy is cool. Love every minute of this.
God bless you sir you and your family lots of good food and lot's and lot's of work 💪🤗👍🤠
Take the trip west and go to Johnnie’s in Elmwood Park. That’s the place for beef.
EXACTLY👍
Over rated Al’s is the best

@@christopher1459 yes, I’ve been to Serrelli’s(with the cow out front) but I think Johnnie’s beef WITH an Italian ice makes it the best.
I live in AZ now and I miss Italian beef so bad. The only thing you can get is the Ports trash. Jonnys and Als is the best ever.
Al's beef is too grease as you can see, that's the reason I prefer Johnny's.
we were over by dare, from turdy eight to sixty tree.
We cant get anything close to this magic in Australia 😘
THE ITALIAN BEEF IS THE BEST
Marcos Beef!! Fullerton and Austin (belmont cragin) hands down its the best in chicago
your right, im like less then 10 mins away
To me the worst beef in Chicago they put cinnamon in their gravy that make it sweet Johnny’s is the best
Italian sign language would be a lot to take in
You are better to watch than that annoying Elliot guy
I saw this on Man v. Food.
I'm goin

Buona Beef and Portillo's.
Portillo gravy has the best I did not like the taste of Buona gravy AL meat has best quaity
I can make 3lbs of Italian beef at home for $15. That’s an absurd amount he’s charging for one sandwich.
Break it down. I don't believe you.
@@robert7984 3lb sirloin tip $10, zesty Italian dressing packet $.75 , hot giardiniera $3, roll $.50.

Gimme a break
So go ahead and make ur own.
Better yet, go outside, get some fresh air, and take a walk to ur local beef joint.
Live a little.
Yo warci. At 1121 north Levitt. Chicklett. The kid Charlie
Well said…
Sliced roast beef in au jus on a good roll. These look good, just like hundreds of other shops across the nation.
Not an Al's beef fan. They put something in their gravy, that is very distinctive, that I personally don't like.... Allspice, cinnamon....something..
Portllos has the best gravy
Buona Beef has the best beefs. I'm from Chicago, city of.
No 😂
Snitches cannot resist the Italian beef and PEPSI!
DERP
🙄
if you like fat and oil its for you. Didnt catch on in any other state
Over priced and overrated
BUONA< BUONA< BUONA!!!!
Trash
Al's is crap

Damn that looks amazing. Too bad you have to go to Chicago to get one.
