Thats because supernatural was a horror series back in season 3 it makes sense that a demon dean would be scary like that in season 10 he was still cool but wish he was more violent and scarier like this one.
Seriously... how does Jensen not have a bunch of awards at home for playing Dean Winchester? This scene (as many others) never fails to make me watch in open-mouthed awe at his amazing skill and talent. It also never fails to make me cry ;-;
MelissaSz89 he should’ve played max payne I mean put them next to eachother he looks exactly the same as max Payne from the video game, Jensen doesn’t get the credit he deserves and it sucks.
This wasn't foreshadowing at all, at least not related to what happened in the season 9 finale. This was meant to show Dean's worst fear coming true after learning how all demons were human souls tortured in hell from Ruby. Kripke was at the helm of the show back then and he never intended for stupid plots like the Mark of Cain (MoC), which could have been a cool plot (I did like the Cain character, though he was underutilized), but in the end turned out to be a cheap way of turning Dean into a demon while ignoring the canon that Kripke laid out that demons are created by torture which is not how the MoC demon Dean of season 10 came to be. It's obvious the writers of seasons 9 & 10 looked back at this episode and thought "oh it would be cool if we finally made Dean into a demon" and came up with that lazy way of doing it, but other than the black eyes, there is nothing that traces back to this scene, which was Dean's nightmare of what he would become in hell, which is where he was headed at the time.
Guys, thus isn't foreshadowing. The show was only planned for 5 seasons, ending at Swan Song. They never planned on Demon!Dean this early. That being said, this is only one of the many examples of Jensen's superb acting. This scene must've took some preparation for such an emotional scene, and maybe had taken a bit of a toll on Jensen himself for such an emotional scene.
xxF991xx He's a special kind of Knight of Hell, the most powerful version of a Knight, and, by extension, demon. So, like SavuhEU said, he's what Cain is.
I don't think it was so much Dean blaming John for Mary's death so much as Dean lamenting the responsibility that had been heaped on him as a result of it. John made tracking the demon down as his main priority in life and as a consequence passed some of the normal fatherly responsibilities (like protecting Sam) onto Dean, depriving him of a normal childhood. And it's those responsibilites that are ultimately getting him sent to hell
Everytime I watch this, I am shivering, I am a mess, I'm fighting against tears. First because Dean fighting himself & his feelings... denying. You don't know exactly at what extend he believes Demon!Dean. That's scary. Strong. Well written. And then there is Jensen. Jensen Freacking Ackles and his amazing acting and I just can't anymore. When he breaks down, I swear... this is one of my favorite scene of the show because it's purely fantastic. Horrible, almost unbearable but marvelous.
not foreshadowing because kripke planned for a 5 season arc, he wasn’t even writing after that. the power in this scene is that it’s the inflection point for dean’s character in season 3. he was burying his fear of hell and death before, absolutely, but this is the moment he deemed himself worth saving. it took him confronting his insecurities face to face (literally) to see that they were invalid. this is the perfect example of taking a trope (a character talking to a hallucination or dream of his/herself) and pulling it off with story significance and superb acting.
Actually, this is the only SPN scence that has scared me. The last part when he clicks his fingers with those demon eyes damn... that's horrible, it gave me chills. Season 9 finale is horrible too, but it didn't scare me. It made me sad... so terribly sad. I cried a lot :(
The snap at the end was perfect, and chilling. It was a representation of who would win, and who had the power to snap who away. (Of course, that was wrong, and regular!Dean ultimately won, but it's still chilling)
It was that pure rage and anger that made Dean beat down his demonic version here. And if you recall, the irony is that the same was true with Sam and his anger issues. Lucifer wanted to keep Sam angry because it made him stronger and even made sure that the demons serving him that he placed around Sam's life would make sure that Sam had a chip on his shoulder. ua-cam.com/video/HlQaNlvFKEA/v-deo.html
"You're gonna die! And this, this is what you're gonna become!" I remember first watching this years ago and it was always the quote i remembered best from this show. Was always the one that gave me the most chills. The pure hatred in his eyes, the anger in voice jensen really is one of the best actors out there. Was kinda expecting demon dean to be as violent and scary as this version seemed considering all of the negative feelings we all know Dean pushes back. Makes some sort of sense though because you cant come back from certain things in the hunter world. This dean surely would have done some very foul shit.
It saddens me to see how low self-esteem he is and hates himself I wish Dean love himself, all his sacrifice is the hero who cares for everyone and especially Sam Dean deserves happiness I love Dean
Did anyone notice how Prophetic this episode was Listen to what was said 'When you die Dean, THIS is what you will become' and what happened? Dean died and came back as a Demon about 9+ seasons later.
This is like the start of the airing of his grievances that Dean gave Mary inside her head in season 12, but before he had all the facts he learned from the time travel in season 4 and knew her role in all of it. We see the same anger when he unleashes on Mary in season 12 of how life was unfair for him and he was saddled with stuff nobody his age should have had to be burdened with in this scene. The difference is here he's blaming John whereas in season 12 he's blaming Mary after finding out her role in everything.
so let's take a look back throughout the years of travel and transformations of Dean has near death experience [comes back] sells his soul then killed goes to hell [ stays 40 years hell time] resurrected numerous times due to dying in various situations between season 4 and 5 becomes family man becomes a suicidal drunk then a vampire then back into a human that's completely intolerant of monster becomes depressed for a small period then goes to purgatory comes back with survival of fittest attitude with a small tolerance for monsters becomes lonely again then gains powers from kain blade suffer effects from kain blade then killed now he's a demon did i miss anything?
Shame, Dean was only a demon for 3 episodes I was kinda hoping for 6-9 episodes of him being a demon badass. Oh well at least he still has the Mark Of Cain, we'll see how that goes
...See...This is why people should`t talk to themselves. The whole cast of supernatural is just unbelievably talented. I`ve never watched a show that can touch my heart like Supernatural can.
As much as I'd like to say it was foreshadowing, I think it was more of a coincidence that there was a relationship between this scene and the ending of season 9. I'm pretty sure they weren't thinking of a point where Dean would become a demon. This scene was just there to further reinforce the point that Dean was going to Hell, and while there he may potentially become the thing he fears most. (Which, obviously didn't happen since Castiel saved him in Hell.) Still, it's a cool scene and season 9 ended on a high note.
Jensen Ackles is a hidden gem within the acting community. His skills are so great that he inspires me to see things that he's been in that I wouldn't even normally watch. Like his new movie that's in production. I normally don't do horror movies but I'm going to go see it just because the storyline sounds good and I know how great of an actor he is. My only problem is that Dark Angel went off the air before he could fully portray the character.
Six seasons, six friggin seasons of foreshadowing. And now I'm sobbing violently. Thank you writers, you're great at your job and amazing writers, but also total douche bags.
Anyone saying that this is a prediction either didn't see season 3 or just missed the entire point. The scene where he talks to demon Dean in the dream is a representation of his fear of becoming a demon in hell because this episode (Dream A Little Dream Of Me) was the very next after the Malleus Maleficarum, which was the one where Ruby told him that all demons were once human and that Dean too will become one after enough time in hell. The dream had nothing to do with the Mark of Cain, which technically did not exist in the series at the time because Kripke never intended such a thing. Instead, it had to do with the fact that Dean's soul was earmarked for hell due to the deal he made to bring Sam back in All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2. It was done to show what was really going on in Dean's head since he never let Sam see his vulnerabilities because Sam needed him to be strong and he couldn't afford to let Sam know that he wasn't holding himself together to keep Sam safe. What happened in the season 9 finale had *nothing* to do with this and was simply a coincidence.
I can hear his texan accent when he says "Dad's" and when he says "I mean it." :) But that's not important, what is, it the fact that this is an amazing scene.
This is actually foreshadowing, just not in the way most people think. Everyone talks about how Kripke had a 5 year plan for Supernatural (ending with 5x22 "Swan Song"), but before that the original ending was going to be Dean dying and going to Hell for eternity (where he would eventually become a demon). Then Kripke decided he wanted to bring in the angels, and so it became a 5 year plan. But Supernatural was, at one point, going to end with Dean in Hell and presumably becoming a demon, so this is foreshadowing that ending. That being said, I do believe that this storyline played a part in the writers decision to turn Dean into a demon in 9x23. So, no, this isn't foreshadow to Demon!Dean in S10, but I definitely think it gave the writers the idea. So in a way this scene became unintentional foreshadow.
At least Dean finally realized he was WORTH something.... Although I still like him evil too. Hehe. This scene made my jaw drop when I first watched it on tv and it still does!
thats got to be the best scene in supernatural history (in my opinion at least) poor dean, of coars hes worth saving.... this is the best show in the world, love it soooo much
I totally agree. I never would of imagine he had that much resentment towards his fathers. It breaks my heart everytime I see it. I think Jensen too is really great in this scene, he is an amazing actor. I love this scene, the battle is well done. Love this video thanks !
Every single time Dean says that hes crap i just want to go into the Tv and slap him and give him a hug and say "dean you are loved by so many people dont beat yourself up dean everyone loves you and you are a great man" you know?
It's scenes like this that make the first five seasons the best of Supernatural. There was so much good character development and as the rest of the series went on past Kripke's departure, it felt like the characters had to regress in order for things to keep going. This was Dean admitting he wanted to live, that he deserved to live, that he actually deserved to have a life and that he was his own person with his own agency.
season6 and on, is all fanfiction. diestiel was non-existent in the s4-5, no where they were romantic or even showed signs. they kind ruined it, kripke knew that, after s5 there wasnt much left for him to create the story was done. season 6 tries to recapture the earlier season with all the dark lighting and horror, other than 6-8, 9-15 was pretty subpar. the obsessive fans played a part. Also dabbs wanted jack to be shoehorned into the series eventually, thats also one of the reasons the jesse anti-christ never came back, he wouldve competed with jack for the spotlight. dabb is responsible for most of the shows the way it did. they catered unbelievable too much to fanfiction, even to the point some fans have threatened some of actors (i believe its one of the families dean was spending time with)
This demon Dean was far scarier than actual demon Dean ever was
Deanmon was hot and fluffy.
Supernatural was more of a horror series back in season 1, 2 and 3. At 4 it started to become more of a drama show.....
***** they're going back to their old roots this season
Thats because supernatural was a horror series back in season 3 it makes sense that a demon dean would be scary like that in season 10 he was still cool but wish he was more violent and scarier like this one.
Forever Lit
It's not scary at all.....
"Who wasn't there for Sam, I always was! It wasn't fair! I didn't deserve what he put on me and I don't deserve to go to Hell!" omg I'm dying.
@Sarah Gummy Good one.
Wow, you came at a funny time, this comment was 3 years ago and came in at three weeks after.
See I lived this so this kinda hurts me
Seriously... how does Jensen not have a bunch of awards at home for playing Dean Winchester? This scene (as many others) never fails to make me watch in open-mouthed awe at his amazing skill and talent.
It also never fails to make me cry ;-;
MelissaSz89 he should’ve played max payne I mean put them next to eachother he looks exactly the same as max Payne from the video game, Jensen doesn’t get the credit he deserves and it sucks.
I don't think it's a coincidence that this happens in Season 3 Episode 10 and Deanmon's final appearance was season 10 episode 3
Slade Hazard dude woah
Illuminati xD
+Slade Hazard OMFG
This messed me up in ways I cannot repair...
even if it is it doesn't matter because season 10 was a joke
"I didn't deserve what he put on me and I don't deserve to go to hell." OMG that part gives me goosebumps
"Your own father didn't care whether you lived or died, Why should you?"
Damn, deep. Gets me everytime.
It all came true.
"You're gonna die, Dean. And this, this is what you're gonna become!"
Ain't that the truth
More like "You're gonna die--several times, Dean, And this, this is what you're gonna become!"
one of the greatest jensen ackles performances
The scene of like-- EXTREME FORESHADOWING
wow.
I think most people flicked back to this scene at the end of the finale.
--i even did
+奈良明 Multiple times, actually XD

his nightmare was a prediction and happened for real :)
MDL G premonition*
"I know how you look into a mirror and hate what you see." Dean Winchester, the man everyone loves but Dean Winchester.

And afrer 6 years still I watch it. It's memorable.
And after 6 years, Dean actually became a demon / Demon Knight...
SavuhEU is dean a demon or a knight of hell?
xxF991xx I believe that Dean turned into what Cain is when he died. Knight of the demons?
xxF991xx He's a special kind of Knight of Hell, the most powerful version of a Knight, and, by extension, demon. So, like SavuhEU said, he's what Cain is.
that is going to be AWESOME!
I don't think it was so much Dean blaming John for Mary's death so much as Dean lamenting the responsibility that had been heaped on him as a result of it. And it's those responsibilites that are ultimately getting him sent to hell
The foreshadowing is strong with this one. XD
4:13 - 4:19 Darkest scene ever in supernatural
Everytime I watch this, I am shivering, I am a mess, I'm fighting against tears. First because Dean fighting himself & his feelings... denying. You don't know exactly at what extend he believes Demon!Dean. That's scary. Strong. Well written.

Cy Blue Exactly!!! One of my favorites too.
I bet 1000 dollars that Dean becoming a demon is tomorrow's finale's cliffhanger.
I call it now.
you were right
you know it :D
i suspect he drank demon blood as an infant
Well met! Good guess there!
GOOD GUESS
This is an accurate representation of what depression is like
What I like about this episode is that it shows how Dean really feels deep inside
not foreshadowing because kripke planned for a 5 season arc, he wasn’t even writing after that. the power in this scene is that it’s the inflection point for dean’s character in season 3. he was burying his fear of hell and death before, absolutely, but this is the moment he deemed himself worth saving. it took him confronting his insecurities face to face (literally) to see that they were invalid. this is the perfect example of taking a trope (a character talking to a hallucination or dream of his/herself) and pulling it off with story significance and superb acting.
The fact that he says „this is what you‘re gonna become“ and 7 seasons later _he does_ - wow
Actually, this is the only SPN scence that has scared me. The last part when he clicks his fingers with those demon eyes damn... that's horrible, it gave me chills. Season 9 finale is horrible too, but it didn't scare me. It made me sad... so terribly sad. I cried a lot :(
hands down best scene. this is the classic spn I miss.
it was his worth nightmare now it happened ! the 10th season will be great
My heart is broken after "I ALWAYS WAS!" 😢 But next omgg Damon!Dean so fcking hot 😍
He's acting skills are so good that at the end I almost shit myself
The snap at the end was perfect, and chilling. It was a representation of who would win, and who had the power to snap who away. (Of course, that was wrong, and regular!Dean ultimately won, but it's still chilling)

This is one of my favorite scenes in supernatural Jensen ackles is an amazing actor
It saddens me to see how low self-esteem he is and hates himself
I wish Dean love himself, all his sacrifice is the hero
who cares for everyone and especially Sam
Dean deserves happiness
I love Dean
Poor Dean! I hate that he hates himself. He's such a giving person. He's a good guy who deserves good things!
IT'S A SHAME AND PITY THAT JENSEN DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY AWARDS FOR THE BRILLIANT JOB HE DID PLAYING DEAN, FOR THESE SEVEN YEARS!!!
This is why the more recent "John Winchester redemption arc" was ridiculous. Dean's entire life and self-worth were ruined by this man.
Did anyone notice how Prophetic this episode was
Listen to what was said 'When you die Dean, THIS is what you will become'
and what happened? Dean died and came back as a Demon about 9+ seasons later.
I love the consistency this show has
I wonder how long it took the writers to come up with the idea of bringing this back. The finale was amazing I still get chills thinking about it haha
Welp. They brought that back.

Great scene kind of shows that one of our greatest enemies inner demons is us
6... years... later...
Dean: You're not real.
Dream Dean: Sure I am. I'm you. I am a shadow... The true self!
Dean: Wrong series, buddy.
"Joke all you want smart ass." That is the best line ever!
:DDD Love this it gives me the chills everytime.
The ending is the ULTIMATE foreshadowing!
so let's take a look back throughout the years of travel and transformations of Dean
has near death experience [comes back]
sells his soul then killed
goes to hell [ stays 40 years hell time]
resurrected numerous times due to dying in various situations between season 4 and 5
becomes family man
becomes a suicidal drunk then a vampire then back into a human that's completely intolerant of monster
becomes depressed for a small period then goes to purgatory
comes back with survival of fittest attitude with a small tolerance for monsters
becomes lonely again then gains powers from kain blade
suffer effects from kain blade then killed
now he's a demon
did i miss anything?
& transformation of Sam is?
+1LIFEtoWIN Puppy-> Moose
+Ali Way XD Yes
God revealed that he was the one that resurrected Dean the first time, that was revealed
destiel
"YOU CANT ESCAPE ME, DEAN!
YOU'RE GONNA DIE! AND THIS,
THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE GONNA BECOME!!!"
i loove this scene!!!!
Best foreshadowing ever !
Best scene
Imo this is his best scene. I wish he was thus honest with himself and everyone else more often.
Ackles is such an amazing actor. I love the way you can almost physically see the moment when Dean snaps!
Gets me everytime! So emotional
It took almost 10 seasons but as Nardole once said, "heyyyy we go there!"
Shame, Dean was only a demon for 3 episodes I was kinda hoping for 6-9 episodes of him being a demon badass. Oh well at least he still has the Mark Of Cain, we'll see how that goes
...See...This is why people should`t talk to themselves.

well, this happened in the 10th episode of the 3rd season, and dean demon ended in the 3rd episode of the 10th season? Is that a conicidence too? xD
When I saw the season 9 finale I immediately remembered this episode..WOOOOW mindblown.
Watching this after the latest episodes of the show is like watching a prophecy come true... *calls 911 while sobbing*
i know, right? I'm worried that Dean will turn into a demon...
*****
Me too ! Or worse... A fearless, emotionless killer >.
Dear lord, your profile pic is disturbing..
Hey! Don't be hating on Destiel!!!!
***** I absolutely despise it. That and the weird-ass incest shit some fans are into. Just overall wtf is wrong with you?
Man, up until now, out of all the episodes in season 1 and 2 and the previous ones in 3, that last b&w scene, that snap, freaked me the hell out.
Incredible scene! 😢💖
SUCH an emotional scene...
One of the realest moments in supernatural!
I hate how Dean is so hard on himself D: but, I love him -hugs Dean- lol.
I love the ending
Jensen Ackles should get more recognition for his phenomenal acting. He makes the scariest demon to be on SPN.
Jensen Ackles is a hidden gem within the acting community. His skills are so great that he inspires me to see things that he's been in that I wouldn't even normally watch. I love all the foreshadowing in this show!
I felt for dean in this scene all his feelings towards his father
God this scene always gives me goosebumps and one of the most powerful scenes in the show
Thanks sooo much for uploading this! This makes me soo happy :D :D :D :D And well...amazing actor...amazing. I love Jensen.
One of my favorite moments of the series!
AND AFTER 6 SEASONS IT HAPPENED
it must have been so hard for jensen to act this out. and the result is so cool!
thankyou for uploading,
x
I love this episode...thanks for posting this :)
I can hear his texan accent when he says "Dad's" and when he says "I mean it." :) But that's not important, what is, it the fact that this is an amazing scene.

Love this video thanks !
If only dean knew that 6 seasons later he would become a demon....
well. I love when he start to yell at him, it's so spectacular :)
@sonotquiet couldnt of said it better my self..
threw my eyes Jensen is the most phanominal actor..truelly a talent and a gift
Who started to remember this scene after the mark turned dean into a demon?
I thought of this scene the day after I watched it. Dean finally turning into a demon.... who knew!
He is such an amazing actor this scene was so intense and emotional! I really feel for Dean in this scene!
I really feel emotional every time I see this
Poor Dean....he needs a big hug. I love his character so much!
4:13 Most scariest and sinister scene in supernatural if you ask me
Ah foreshadowing how do we love thee
" I know how you look into the mirror and hate what you see. "
I hate myself too Dean...
That last bit where demon dean smiles and snaps his fingers is my favorite image in the whole show.
Fantastic acting!
This is probably the most powerful scene in the entire show. It's one of my favorites :-)
Every single time Dean says that hes crap i just want to go into the Tv and slap him and give him a hug and say "dean you are loved by so many people dont beat yourself up dean everyone loves you and you are a great man" you know?
Demon Dean snapping his fingers used to creep the hell out of me
It's scenes like this that make the first five seasons the best of Supernatural. This scene, heck this entire episode ... just.. wow.
So the demon is the one who ended the dream then ? Brr
