Love the look. Be ready for lots of cleaning. I had a Cobra PowrFlo on my bike. Its a ram air style, forward facing. It always catches bugs. Luckily it had a wire mesh screen that caught most of them, but it was a pain, so i went to another style.
Well I never had any issue with the stock air filter and it’s a similar style of having the filter out in the open. The only difference is that this is a little bit wider. And if you’re talking about the window hopefully installing the external breather kit should alleviate having to clean that window as frequently. Time will tell!
Trask makes bad ass stuff! I'd like to recommend changing the filter oil to black. Its super easy to do and I've done it with my bikes. That pinkish red just doesn't look right to me on a black bike. 😄
Oh I agree lol. I’m gonna wait since it’s already red right now. When I clean it later this year I’ll probably change it. It’ll look way better in black
Awesome job "dad". I have a DK Customs intake similar to this. I'll be curious how your plexiglass cover holds up. Mine has a ton of hairline "cracks" in it after a year. Hopefully the Trask is higher quality.
Thanks man! And that sucks :/ I know a few people who put lots of miles on with this air cleaner and the window looks brand new still for them so I’m hopeful!!
You mean the internal breathing system? It continues to be an internal breathing system. I have many more recent videos on the external breathing system from Trask and even my most current from DK customs
How is your leg with the trask vs. Stock? I'm 6'3 and have thought about getting the trask but I don't want to hit my shins lol. Great video btw. Keep it up brother!
When I tuck my legs in to touch the tank nice and tight it sticks out a little more than stock. But it’s already touching the inside of my leg so you’ll definitely clear it I believe and it wouldn’t hit your shin lol. Thanks man!!!
I haven’t had condensation on mine at all. Just some oil mist from the crankcase breathers. So I can’t speak if condensation is normal or not. I would assume it depends on your climate as well. And I have only ridden in mid to high 60’s so far with it
Does it bother your leg a bit when maneuvering at low speed speeds? It looks huge comparing to harlenness breathers.Definitely looks good though. Great video. Will be usefull if I go with Trask.
Not at all for me. When I took my knees in to the tank I can feel it sticking out more than the stock cleaner on my inside leg. But nothing that is very irritating or annoying in anyway. You just feel that it there. And I’m pretty short so I would imagine everybody would feel about the same if not even better because the farther your leg is out the less it will come in contact with it
Me personally I would not use red or blue loctite, I know the instructions may say so but me I like using orange since it is high strength but removable but great video, the air cleaner in red isn’t available so I am waiting either Fueling or trask
I’ve used orange here and there for some stuff and I don’t realize a big difference between it and blue in my experience so I just keep using blue for the most part. But I have been using orange here and there.
@@RidinDad nothing wrong with that and I am sure blue would do fine for most of my applications, the parts store didn’t have blue at the time so I bought orange and never looked back but something is way better than nothing
@@RidinDad thanks for the great videos. All your work and bringing the attention to Trask to make the plate without the holes. You deserve credit for that. Thank you. Keep them coming.
great video about the trask air cleaner. I just bought the FXLRS and now choosing one air cleaner. Is there enough room for your leg after install the air cleaner,it‘s very important for me,thanks! And is there any other air cleaner that you recommand?
Thanks man! I’ve heard great things about the s&s stealth as well as the hpi air cleaners. I’m short (5 09) so it doesn’t stick out too much for me. It’s just on the rear part of my leg that is actually hits. The filter is wider than stock by about 1-1.5 inches. But I have no issue abs the taller you are the less it should bother you
Hi, I have put forward controls on my bike. I have the 117 air filter, but it sticks out too much. I you really like this can you reach around it OK to put foot on crash bar ?
I’m not quite sure what you’re asking...this filter does obviously have the clear filter window so you can see the throttle body actuate and I highly recommend it
Not damage them exactly. Just depends on what style you have and what it’s treated with. There’s a lot of guys that don’t even run rain socks on their regular air cleaners
Thanks for the SUB! And I'm unclear on what youre asking exactly. There is no air box on these bikes. Are you talking about a new (better) filter to fit on the existing air cleaner mount?
@@RidinDad, Sorry for not being more specific, you mentioned that you could modify the stock airbox, But chose not to. just wondering how you would go about it. I figured it out, Thanks for getting back with me.
@@magoo5.0johnson45 I understand what you're saying.....you're talking about putting an external breather kit on to your stock air cleaner assembly. Yes there are kits from DK customs available to retro fit stock or other aftermarket air cleaners
Well as far as the filter being on the outside it’s pretty much the exact same design as probably 80% of the air cleaners right now out there. Including the one that was stock. The only difference is the clear cover which has nothing to do with the filter element. It does come with a rain sock that you could put on theoretically for bugs and stuff. But for those of us that have had filters like this before we know that bugs hardly ever get on them.
Love your videos and love the look of the TRASK AC. Personally I’ve struggled with mine and had to resort to taking the face plate off and doing a custom UNI foam filter face to allow more air. On my 131 build I had a 5HP loss with the TRASK air filter on. Gained 4HP back but looking into the Feuling BA Air Cleaner that’s about to hit the market. These M8’s need air, lots of air.
Really? That sucks :/. I haven’t heard anything like that yet about these. I know a few people with these on some pretty nice engine builds. That’s crazy :/
Ok, if that’s what makes or breaks the purchase for you then go hpi. I like hpi too, I like Trask a little more and I like this style of air cleaner a lot more
I'll be praying for you and your fallen brother in blue, keep the great videos up. Thank you for letting us Florida's sleep easy at night.
I appreciate that man. Thank you 👊🏻
Great Choice on air breather man! Love the look of the Trask on the bike.

Bad ass bro!!! That’s the one I’ve wanted since day one. Just haven’t been able to pull the trigger yet!! Awesome share bro. 🤙🏾🔥
Thank you!! And same here lol. Finally bought it
Hi mate
Nice handy video.
What will happen to the oil pipes from the stock? We closing those holes?

Had a filter like this on my last bike. Looks sick ya, but didn't like how my leg on that side would stick out. Stock filter with k&n element for me
Doesn’t really affect me that much. Sticks out more obviously but not enough to make it uncomfortable for me. To each his own!

My pleasure man, thanks for watching!
Just out one on myself. After one ride there was already some condensation on the window. Is that normal?

Agreed!
Are the backing plate and adapter plate aluminum or plastic?
Is the black finish you installed textured the same as the engine?
Nothing is plastic in the air cleaner kit from Trask. It’s a Matt black on this one. Not wrinkle but not gloss. They have a gloss black too
@@RidinDad thanks for the great videos. All your work and bringing the attention to Trask to make the plate without the holes. You deserve credit for that. Thank you. Keep them coming.

Hey bro I got a lowrider s 2021 I bought a Trask aircleaner and a TBR pipe wat kind of runner would I need?????
You can use any tuner. I would stay away from fuel pack and Screamin eagle
Hey man, great video. Can you turn plexiglass round window after installation? Mine is moving and I can rotate it that feels weird.
Not at all it fits very snug and the friction between the rubber on the filter element and the plexiglass keeps the window locked in to place
@@RidinDad something is wrong with mine. Off to figure it out :). Thank you!
Good luck!
mine sucked too, crap quality all round
Have you reached out to trask? What’s else was wrong with the quality?

Hi, I have put forward controls on my bike. I have the 117 air filter, but it sticks out too much. I you really like this can you reach around it OK to put foot on crash bar ?
For me, this did not have any issue with me putting my feet on the crash bar. The crash bar is very wide compared to the regular foot controls.
I also think to buy this filter but I still don’t know this one is one of window type? Please give me some recommendations thanks

Hey buddy does this filter need to be oiled like the K and N Filters ???
Cheers 🍻
Yep. It’s a typical reusable filter. Not a paper filter. Needs to be cleaned and recoiled at typical intervals.
@@RidinDad cheers 🍻 mate .
Do you have oil it straight away when you put it on your bike ?
Or does it already come oiled from Trask ???
Cheers Gus
Pre oiled. That’s the reddish color like typical k&n’s
@@RidinDad awesome 😎 thanks buddy 👍👍👍
No problem
Too bad you aren't doing a dyno test with stock air cleaner vs trask with external breather
Yeah would have had to pay twice since I would have to install it and go back. Was t happening lol. Shouldn’t be too much of a difference honestly
Can rain damage external breathers?
Not damage them exactly. Just depends on what style you have and what it’s treated with. There’s a lot of guys that don’t even run rain socks on their regular air cleaners

How’s the rain sock work. I ride a lot in heavy rain. I’ve seen picture but looks like you either have to have it on or off.
Right, either on or off. What other option were you looking for?? Lol. I’ve never had an issue in rain and had some heavy storms I’ve been caught in
Looks good, curious to maybe see a 128 or 131 build 🤔
