Lovin' your videos, RD. I'm new to Harleys and the Low Rider S, and I'm not a very experienced mechanic. Your videos have really helped with identifying potential upgrades, the tools needed for them, etc. I was one of those who felt kind of "scrunched" on this bike, with the low seat, high pegs, mid-controls and motocross-style bars. Took me awhile to get both the ride fitment and the aesthetics where I want them, but it's now pretty close. So far, I've done: -- Saddlemen Step Up seat. Love it! -- Drag Specialties 4.5" pullback risers (I wanted to get the bars closer to me without adding height. These helped the fit, with about 1.5" of pullback and only slightly taller than the stock bars. The 4.5" risers didn't require longer brake or clutch cables or extensions). -- Kuraykn floorboards (I tried these kind of out of desperation, because I hated the OEM foot position but didn't want to go to forward controls unless that proved to be the only option to get comfortable. The floorboards fit that purpose. While they are the only upgrade I've done that I'm not super happy about aesthetically, they really helped on comfort. I can move my legs both forward and back over a much wider range than with the stock pegs. The above three really helped with the poor fit and discomfort issues. In addition: -- Flo Motor Sports shifter -- Ends Cuoio leather saddlebags (Because they're leather, they're not as functional, or as spacious, as your hard bags, but they have decent capacity and look great on the bike. You can get them with or without locks. -- Harley sissybar and pad -- Passenger pegs That may be it for a while. I've been mulling a Stage III kit, though I may wait and see whether you do the new cam on yours and hear what you think of it before deciding whether to splurge on the Stage III.
Thank you man! I’m glad my videos helped you. Your bike sounds pretty sweet now. I love the ends cuoio bags...almost got them for my fat bob when I had it. They seem to be really high quality. I appreciate you watching and interacting! I’m glad the low rider fits you comfortably man. And as far as the cam goes....I’m still debating lol. I’ll make up my mind soon I promise lol
Awesome!!! I definitely will. I just wanted to get through this trip and make sure the gear I have with something I could get behind and then in every video I’m going to have all the links all the time after I do the first initial video showing what I had. Everything I had worked great and was extremely comfortable and I definitely would recommend
Would you please just give me a small tease of the shock upgrade? Specifically the difference at 70 mph straight down the hwy? I do like how you're wanting to put some time in before an in depth review. Thanks!
It’s hard to describe for straight line stuff. It feels solid. No squishy at all just feels planted. Absorbs bumps and road deformations very well and much better than stock man
With those drag specialities risers, did you use the stock clamp bolts, if not, what size bolts did you use? Mine are 5/16-18 by 1.25" (or thereabouts), but I think I need 1" long bolts. They seem to bottom out in the riser, but I am not sure and I don't want to force it and snap off a bolt in the riser.
Yes, I used the same stock bolts that were on the bike prior to swapping it out. There’s probably a good chance that there’s a bunch of dried Loctite in there so what I recommend is getting a wire brush or a thread cleaner and cleaning out the holes and then using compressed air and spraying in there to get all of the debris out and cleaning out the bolts and then try again, I think that will probably fix your issue
I like the way it looks better, it fits my shorter legs better and less chance of scraping. Buddy has the low one on his low rider and he’s scraped it around corners before
Of course man! Thanks dude, I appreciate that! And thanks for saying hey!! Safe riding to you guys and enjoy the rest of your trip! We got caught in awful rain and fog the last half of the day. Hoping for Clear skies tomorrow 🤞🏼
Hey, thanks for the videos. Just wanted to make sure I understood what was required in changing the risers. Everything is stock, except for the clutch cable? What is the part number for the extended clutch cable at magnum shielding? Thanks
I honestly have no clue and I don’t remember. It was something that was made in a custom cart for me from get lowered. If you call the guys at get lowered and tell them what you are doing they will help you out very well and quick like they did for me I’m sure. The only thing that is stock in my set up is the brake cable. I had to get the Harley extension kits for all the electronics including the switches and turn signals.
Clutch could make due re routing through triple trees but it’s still a little tight for my liking and looks bad so I bought a new clutch cable. Can’t remember the length but it was about 3/4 inches longer
Thanks man! And not off band. But it’s super easy to find. Almost harleys should be dealers and if you just google saddleman step up you’ll definitely find it. You can customize it a million ways too
Damn dude. I’m not sure how I missed read that that bad LOL my bad man. The bags are from FXR division. They have a website and it’s the only set of bags they have and obviously it’ll be specific to your style of bike you are looking for them. And mine specifically are wrapped in a gloss black wrap to match the bike they just come in a primer coat paint finish on the fiberglass. I love the bags and I do have a video devoted to them completely on my Lowrider build series playlist.
And the bars are the same exact bars that were on the bike stock but the risers are just a real generic drag specialty riser I think it was either six or 6 1/2 inch whatever those ones are from drag specialties I think it was like 40 bucks maybe and the 1 inch pull back on them, and the top clamp is the same clamp they came stock for the bike. I’m going to head and did some alloy art good and tight bushings to improve to feel as well
If that’s how you bought it new you need to take that back asap lol. They come with a “dummy” cap on the left side. Basically just double sided tape keeps it on. I’m not aware of anyone besides Harley that sells replacements for that specific style
Did you watch any of my videos on the power vision? My train of thought has always been not to buy inferior products just to maintain a warranty. In my experience 9/10 no one needs to use the warranty. There’s a reason big builds don’t use H-D/screamin eagle parts: they do not perform as well as other aftermarket ones. I buy the bike because I like it and want it. I’ll buy what I want for the bike because I like it and want it, NOT just to keep a warranty. Look at most of the guys that get H-D parts.....after the warranty expires they usually buy other better parts not from H-D.
And the screamin eagle has a regular tuner and they have an available auto tune add on to it. And typically a self install voids warranty anyway with most dealers.
@@RidinDad Thanks for the honest answer. This is video number 2 that I watch so the answer is no, I haven't watched more of your content. I am just about to pull the trigger on a new LR s 2021so was genuinely interested in why you chose to do what you did. I will have a look on your spiel about tuners etc. P.S. Drop a S&S 475 cam in and really wake it up...... until then, your just fiddlin.... also, throw a set of EBC HH pads on the front.....lastly, a pair of shorty levers from whiplash speed company.
Nice videos Dad, absolutely subscribed! Wondering you say Drag Specialties 6 inches risers but I only can find 5,5 or 6,5 tall. Is it one of these or did you find one that's exactly 6? Almost same height as you so I'm keeping yours a reference lol
Thank you!!! My only complaint is that it makes you wanna go fast lol. This bike is amazing and I love it man. I would recommend to everyone who enjoys spirited riding!

Did you not have the vibration dampener? Since I got the newer phone I bought the anti vibration attachment and I’ve ridden 2k plus miles with it no issuesp
My bad man. Thought you were commenting on the video I did all about my preferred phone mount. I currently use the ram ball on the bike with the quad lock phone attachment and the anti vibration mount from quad lock. Works great and secure.
Do you want to stick with this style of a cruiser from Harley? If so the only think I can think in the 6500 range would be a pretty used dyna. You would probably have to put a nice chunk of money in to it to. Perform like these m8’s
What are your feelings on having the Pro Vision Tuner given the warranty void from Harley if not using their pro tuner? I would really prefer to have the Vision / Target package but only if can absolutely trust that the factory tune can truly be written back to ecm before a service (i.e. no flags will thrown once hooked up to computer at a dealership).....Cheers, appreciate the videos.
From what I hear once the Ecu is tuned even if it’s tuned back, the dealership will know it was messed with regardless of what tune is on it at the time. And my feelings..? The warranty will expire anyway. I say buy what you want the first time. Don’t settle for sub par just to keep a warranty that’s gonna expire in a few years

From what I recall they were 6 inches even. But my memory could be wrong honestly. It’s been so long since I did the install
For the 6” risers did you have to use any cable and/or wire extenders or were the existing cables and wires long enough with the higher risers?
Stock brake cable-just at its limit now for sure. And extensions on all handlebar electrics
Clutch could make due re routing through triple trees but it’s still a little tight for my liking and looks bad so I bought a new clutch cable. Can’t remember the length but it was about 3/4 inches longer
