      I play strictly in hard mode, I think it's a bit of a cop out to drop out when you feel your streak is at risk - but that's just me. I did get it in 6 after staring at the letters for about 15 minutes,. Thankfully wordlebot told me it was the only choice I had left but I couldn't find it for a while.

      Today was not a good day for me. I only had the yellow category in Connections, but I don't like the pictures in this game. I also messed up in Wordle getting into the ING trap. I couldn't focus with Connections and was using too many hints. I am sadly agreeing with some of the others, Art. Switching out of hard mode is something you should not do. I know that it is not easy to face defeat in certain situations.

      I feel like you are cheating switching to easy mode. I think most of us live and die in hard mode. Why not just play in easy mode to start with? Now your streak is valid only in easy mode.

    • @alexbove106
      @alexbove106 2 дні тому

      It's fine to switch between modes if that increases your enjoyment of the game--and as a streamer, I can see how not spending massive amounts of time just thinking would make your content more entertaining, which is also fine--but if you're doing it just to maintain a streak, then the streak is meaningless.

    • @hopechazz
      @hopechazz 2 дні тому

      I think Art did it for the latter reason, Alex, but like many others, including myself, he has a competitive streak and will sometimes take desperate measures to stay successful. Even had you failed Wordle, Art, you would have done very well keeping this long streak. You were outstanding in Connections having a streak of about 75 days. Again, Art, you are very intelligent, but you can't always be successful in these games. It still baffles me that Chris Remo has never failed any of these NYT games. In the real world you are not always going to be successful at doing things.

    Wordle was tense nice job preserving the streak and forget worrying about hard mode it's stupid. Test words are a more strategic and interesting part of the game. It's a puzzle why would being stuck in a trap where you have to guess ever be a good hard version of the game.
    Really fun connections I got the regular rainbow no mistakes. I was surprised Art got confused by the solfège notes at first with playing piano for years I guess it's just a voice thing but I would think it's commonly known to refer to the notes in a scale not like a melody or whatever.

    Let me preface this by saying I never play in hard mode. I like the ability to use evaluation words for scenarios like this. That being said, I'm confused why someone would play in hard mode only to be able to disable it during a game. It basically means you're not playing in hard mode.
    In my opinion they should change the game so the hard mode toggle is locked once you play your first word. That way people who really want this challenge are stuck with it.

    • @chinareds54
      @chinareds54 2 дні тому +1

      There's like a * or something that you earn for successfully winning hard mode It's the only reward. But the only way to get it is to start in hard mode and stay in it the whole game (you cannot start in normal mode and play by hard mode rules, then switch to hard mode later). So if someone wants to chase those silly stars but then their priority shifts when they realize it's not worth risking a fail over, Wordle allows them to do that. In the grand scheme of things, who cares? It's a silly bit of daily entertainment, let people play however they want.

    I am genuinely shocked that it's even possible to switch out of Hard Mode mid game. That makes NO SENSE! It's like playing a game of Old School proper Baseball and then suddenly deciding in the sixth inning to switch to using the Designated Hitter rule. Anyway...
    SLANT
    DRUNK
    EBONY
    VYING
    -I had no problem getting it in four in hard mode, ...Well, "no problem" in that after EBONY there was only one possible valid word to choose from so my victory was assured. I see no relevance in dwelling on the fact that it took me the better part of an hour to actually come up with that one valid word that the game would actually accept. (I really thought that was a six letter word)
    I also got the Connections in four, no mistakes. And here's another streak I've just started: two days in a row utterly failing to solve the "mini" crossword at all. Yesterday I made pretty much the same mistakes Art just made (Well, I knew Jenga, but I too assumed the former Italian currency was the "Lira", and I had absolutely no clue regarding varieties of pears). But that was absolutely nothing compared to how I failed to get pretty much anywhere at all with Today's Mini, I can't wait to see how Art does with it tomorrow.

    Congrats on your perfect solve. Nicely done and analyzed. I also had the perfect solve in yellow, light blue, purple and green order. I think I took maybe a bit longer than you to solve. It wasn't an easy puzzle according to the Connections Bot, rated 5/5 in difficulty with a 43% solve rate and only 9% scoring the perfect solve.
    This is the first Connections I've seen with pictures / ideograms so the previous one you're talking about was before I began playing the game. I did read a comment on the Connections Companion that someone who plays this game with a braille interface said the pictures wouldn't translate so they had to sit out the game. I never thought of that accessibility angle which hopefully the NYT will take under consideration.

      Except...Art didn't do that, and I'm not sure why you would say he did. I've watched Art daily for over a year. Occasionally if he's compiling results he'll say that to qualify for the results you have to play a certain way, but he hasn't done that in a long time. Even when he did he never forced anyone to play his way at all, he repeated over and over that you could do what you wanted to. I encourage you and everyone here to take ownership of your own wordle choices without foisting responsibility on someone else.
      A while ago I tried to participate in one of Art's crazier wordle challenges for fun. I really appreciated that he tried to make the game more interesting for his viewers. I failed one of the challenges and abandoned it mid-solve in order not to lose the wordle. Posted my results and Art replied with encouragement and validation. He didn't go around blasting me for being without honor. Because he's a decent person. Thanks.

    Connections was ridiculous today. I didn’t even identify all the pictures. Couldn’t stretch my screen big enough to see what lower left was. And even knowing the answer couldn’t see it, I had the total idea for yellow but was one away. I already hated it was photos, so I just made a pretty mosaic pattern so I could see the bot.
    I am getting disheartened about playing it. If you go back even a couple of months the puzzles are doable with a mistake or two, you might have purple leftovers and win without knowing the category. But lately, less than half of people are solving. And things like paradesux or whatever where the 2 words brung combined are Japanese? C’mon,
    Instead of a fun red herring or two, it seems like several forms of sabotage, such as unknown vocabulary word meanings. Go back to early connections seriously. There would not be words you did not know.
    Day after day, wordle is solved by over 90 % of people. Today is an exception by the way. But that is why it has endured with folks playing it daily for years! given 30 empty squares and a 26 letter alphabet, we can 0have fun AND win.
    End of vent. I need a break from it, but fund myself checking each day just to see if I can get it. Like Art with strands, not worth what it is doing to me 😊😊😊
