  • We have spent the last 6 months dedicated to this universal build project and we are so stoked with the information we have learned!! We are extremely happy with how this machine performs and truly how tough it is! Below we will link every part used that made this build so successful! Don't forget that when you call into SuperATV to get the universal machine package to say I want the Slikrok Universal Machine Package and you will get $350 off your order! Huge thank you to SuperATV for being the company that is willing to listen to their customers and for always striving to be better at what they do! Hats off to you guys! The Canam X3 XRS Max Universal build will soon follow and we will be breaking that all down just like this as well!
    *We apologize, apparently math is not our strong suit! The total for all parts mentioned is $5,509.70 minus the $350.00 with the package discount brings the total to $5159.70.

    Great point on the gravity center point. A lot of people don't quite understand that. Which I totally get, when your sitting that high your mind wants to tell you that you could just tip right over.

    thank you soooo much for this video!! This answered most of the questions i have had and some i didnt think about to get a universal type rig. I have a turbo 4 that I want to do a similar set on.
    The biggest thing I have concerns about that you didnt talk much about is how the portals affect top speed and with portals is there any clutch work that needs to be looked into?

      Thank you we appreciate the support! We actually for the first half of testing ran stock shocks and it performed good, then we put Zbroz tenders on all for corners and it performed better and last step we just had MTS offroad to a full revalve and spring kit and it is awesome! Is it necessary no, but the ride is so much more enjoyable now.

    How much clearance do you get in the narrowest spot between the portals and wheel? I think I've heard you mention those are 15" wheels right? Also, in your opinion, for primarily mud/trail riding, what size tire would push you to say you would "need" a 45% reduction vs a 30%?

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  4 роки тому +1

      Not sure on the exact measurement but the 15" wheel has ample clearance. I would have to run a 40+ inch tire to go to 45% reduction.

    What size of tire do you run to keep the top speed? With the portal gear reduction you will need larger tire to get top speed back?

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 років тому

      Yes you are correct. We have found that with a 34" tire you are still gain a little bit more lower end but still hit 64mph. Ideally to be to a 1:1 ratio you should run a 35" or 36" tire.

    Great setup and thanks for the info. My ranger is about the same setup. Question is for now. I was thinking of buying a rzr but what model would you recommend. There isn't a trails and rock in a 4 seater this year. What would you re the base model, dynamic or high lifter. Do you think the dynamic shocks would be good for the rock climbing.

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  5 років тому

      @@SlikRokProductions would you say that the turbo version is overkill for the most part, I mean for the rock climbing portion. I don't plan on doing dunes. I was looking at the high lifter edition with the lower low gear. I am not going to get it wet but I am defiantly going to have a 4 seater. I do like the Dynamic edition with the ride command. But the Highlifter has a 50% lower low gear and I could install the Ride command. Don't get me wrong I love the Turbo S but don't know if it way overkill for light trails and Rock.

    • @SlikRokProductions

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 років тому

      Factory steering will be fine, we are working on a fix to bring the outer tie rod back to factory geometry to eliminate bump steer and over turning without sacrificing turning radius. This is only a problem with the forward offset a arms.

    • @BIGBUCKHT75
      @BIGBUCKHT75 6 років тому +1

      SlikRok Productions Thanks for the info! Any update on the tie rod fix yet? Also would the 34s fit without the forward offset in the a arms?

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 років тому

      Hey Jacob, most the steering issues with these machine comes from running the forward offset a arms because it changes the factory geometry of the tie rod allowing to over steer and bump steer. Have have started making our own brackets that weld to the protal brackets to set the tie rods back to factory geometry. Without forward offset a arms you will rub with a 34" tire. Hope that helps!

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 років тому

      Yes they are making the atlas boxed a arms in the forward offset. Only issue is they say they don't offer them for the turbo models because of the sway bar tabs on them will puncture the radiator on compression. So just order the arms for the non turbo, cut the tabs off and use there bushing kit for the older model.

    What size tires could you fit under this if need be? The reason I ask is because although we want to go to a universal build since we are traveling the country going to different riding terrains, the closest one to our house that we visit often is a pure mud park. We still need to be able to stuff large mud tires for clearance.

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 років тому

      With the 4" portals we have found that a 34"-36" tire is perfect with the gear reduction ratio. You could probably squeeze a 37" in there but would rub if it is wider than 10"

      SlikRok Productions I'm sorry to keep pestering you man, but I have another question. I don't own the turbo, I own the High Lifter. It has a 55% reduction in low gear. To get a similar "universal" type build, how would you go about it? It isn't unquestionable to sell it and buy a turbo, but I would rather not since it is a 2018 and we paid cash, so I would lose my ass on the sale.

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 років тому +1

      John Morrison Don't ever apologize for asking us questions! There is no need to sale your machine unless you are wanting the turbo. We can achieve the same universal build with your highlifter. So when we go to the 4" portals with the 30% gear reduction we are actually offsetting that ratio by running bigger tires. I.E. 30% gear reduction substituted for a 30% larger tire. We run 34"-36" and have found those work really well. So all in all if you go to bigger tires your low gearing and high gearing should be about the same as you are experiencing now.
