I'm going to be installing the heavy-duty superATV reverse chain kit. So happy I don't have to worry about the, lash setting. Great video, very easy to follow. Thanks for posting...!!
Excellent video, 451... Im working on a 900 and the trans was not as easy to remove as the 1000...the whole engine/trans combo had to come out...thanks very much for posting this...I'll be referring back to this when parts come in...thx again!
Could of also heated the snorkle gear a bit lock it in the vise and knock the output shaft with a punch to get it off. Been inside mine twice for this issue. Going to give the satv gears a try now
I have a xp4 I hit the skid plate at the bottom it also hit that transmission gear box and it’s started to leaks in between is there a gasket that goes there?
Hello, I would like to know how this happens? What causes the breakage? Is it possible that it is the front axle that engages the 4wd while driving that causes the gearbox to break? Large-diameter tires?
Can you please look at my most recent upload on my 6 speed transmission. Idk if o broke my clutch or my transmission but turning the hub in neutral is fine but rotating the hub in any gear is making a clunking chatter sound and feeling. Thank you for the transmission inside view.
Hey, that’s a great video! I have a Polaris general 1000 2018 and when I bought it from the auction it had damage on the front. The eps was broken, and the clutches would keep slipping. I changed the belt a few times and took it into the dealer. They said it was the clutch that we needed to replace. I got new clutches but i observed it closer and it looks like it would make a noise every time the the transmission would spin. I spent so much money on this and I don’t want to fix what doesn’t need to be fixed. Can I get your opinion on this? Thanks!
Just a quick question how does that seal go on the input shaft? (The blue one in the end) There is two of them that go on the shaft and I’m stumped as to how they go
So I'm trying to figure out what's going on with mine the CV shafts have a lot of play. at low speeds trying to take off. They like make a clanking noise but driving it's fine it's only when you first start to take off. Diff fluid 100%. seal is starting to weep a little bit even though previous owner replaced all that stuff lol. so I guess what I'm getting at. Is it possible that it could be the bearings and are those replaceable without complete disassembly?
Thanks for making the videos. Just exploded the case and snorkel gear on my high lifter so I need to rip it all apart. On a side note, what's the deal with the wagoneer you can see in front of your shop?
jschnell64 glad they cab help you with your tear down. And, good eye! It’s a 77 J10 that I’ve slowly been working on. Slowlyyyyyy.... maybe one day it’ll be finished. 😂
The 451 yes it is but for people that are seriously riding it’ll save money in the long run. Just broke the snorkel gear on my third ride with the new bike if that tells u anything. Got a buddy that did it 4 times at a grand a pop before he bought the billet trans
sincityryder Great question. Often times when rock crawling when your front wheels are off the ground spinning faster than your rear wheels. Then when the front wheels hit the ground spinning faster, the shock of them slowing down can affect the output shaft to fail. I’m sure I broke it on this trail. ua-cam.com/video/aZ-I40K5Jg8/v-deo.html
I believe they are different. When I was looking to replace mine I looked at those options. And I think they had a different amount of teeth or something. So I just went with the OEM replacement for mine.
Hey Randall, the torque for the case bolts are 20 ft-lbs (27 Nm). Check the link in the description, as it’s super helpful to help provide you all these numbers. This info is on page 371 if you want more info on that.
I pulled my transmission out of my 2014 it has lots of damage. Broken snorkle gear and both transmission case halves need to be replaced for some reason high gear will not engage I'm looked at all the gears and everything seems to be okay the shift forks and drumb look okay what could it be
@@tylerjorden5688 yeah I was looking at them seems to be the only cheap route .my rzr is on 40s and 6 inch portals and a gear reduction in the transmission and I believe it had the upgraded snorkle gear and pinion.
@@mattd19902010 I just ordered all the stuff for mine to rebuild it over their black Friday sale. I did it about a year and a half ago but there wasn't a reasonable option at the time to replace my case that got chewed up. This time around I ordered all new seals case and upgraded pinion gears and output shaft. Hoping this holds up so I don't have to tear into it again. I'm on a S3 8" With 4" portals and 44s
@@tylerjorden5688 I think who ever built the transmission didn't install something correctly or set the backlash .way to much was jacked up from just the snorkle gear failure. Did you reuse the pinion in this video. How do you like the s3 lift ? I'm having issues with binding on my lift .Its a solid metal wrks lift.
@@mattd19902010 the first time I bought the new shaft with gear and then just the other gear to replace this time I'm replacing both shafts and gears with superatv's. The S3 is a nice lift. I've got it maxed out to clear my 44s though right now so that's the only problem I'm running into. I've thought about selling it and down sizing the whole bike. Interested? I have 4 Turner eagle axles 2 Turner evo rear axles and the 4 gorillas that came with the lift brand new in the box still for it.
I got my from Rocky Mountain ATV fro about $90. But you can get them online from other places. Its the Polaris Gear-13T, Front Output 3235237 Check the link below www.polarispartshouse.com/oemparts/p/polaris/3235237/gear-13t-front-output-352957
Dustin Fitzgerald it ran long enough to get back to my truck. (About 20 miles) I’d have to start it in gear because it would die putting it into Drive. Thought it was the clutch rollers at first. Replaced those, and rolled it out of my garage and you could feel it catching and clunking in natural, and I knew it was more serious. But, to your question. Can you? Yes. Should you? I wouldn’t unless you’re needing to get back to camp or your vehicle, to minimize anymore damage.
Thanks for showing the Zero lash setting so important!
Will be watching this video like 10 times the next few days. Thank u

Same
Shattered the same gear last night on a ride and I now have the confidence to fix this myself. Thanks for the detailed uploads 👍🏽
Glad to hear the videos helped give you the confidence! It just takes time and it’s not too difficult! 🙂

👏👏👏 great video bro !! Makes me wanna tear mine apart for a gear reduction!! Thanks again
BarharborBasher no problem! Glad I could help! Good luck with the gear reduction.
Wish I had this video to go to when I did mine! Lol I ended up powder coating the case too while it was apart waiting for bearings, nice video!
Denney Does It thanks. Glad it’s informative for others!
Hey man. My output shaft snapped at the snorkel gear end. How do you set the gear and bearing out with the shaft broke off
Steve W behind your seal you will have to unthread the broken output shaft with attached bearing from the housing
Could of also heated the snorkle gear a bit lock it in the vise and knock the output shaft with a punch to get it off. Been inside mine twice for this issue. Going to give the satv gears a try now
chadclm that’s a great idea. Hopefully I’ll never have to use that option for this. But, super smart idea!

How did you remove the snorkel shaft seal?
Awesome video! I'm about to do this Monday. The only question I have is what was the torq for the 14 bolts holding the case together
I know it's probably too late, but 6mm bolts are 96inlb I think, would have to double check that thou
Why does these gears break? Is there an upgrade for these? Can you give me a idea why they break?

alex tkachenko have you drained the transmission oil? Any metal shavings?
Not yet
alex tkachenko that’s where I would start, to rule out a failure in the transmission.
Good vid buy who not change seals and reverse chain while you were in there?
Thanks for the video.. Added to my favorites so I have it to help me do mine.. 👍
Tanks!!! From argentina !!! No podíamos armar la selectora
great video man. very helpful. thank you.
Looks pretty simple straight forward! Im only scared on doing the backlash and finding the notch 🤔🤔
Could that be changed without taking it all the way apart?
@The 451 Thank You for this video!!!!!
Would this be basically the same operations for a xp 1000 ranger?
ramey85k10 I believe so. I think they are the same motor and trans. But I’m not 100% sure.

When you were almost done and you put the gear selector gears in what actual gear are you in? High? Can this step be messed up?
Have you ever done a 2018 rzr turbo transmission. Are they the same

Did you change out bearings also? If so what’d you use to remove them?

The 451 did you just replace the 13t output gear?
How much to rebuild mine? 2014 xp1000
good video
Thank you.
