As usual great presentation and info. I have a 2020 JLU (built in Canada) and got curious about what I was missing.. In the US the first thing you need is a SIRIUS XM Guardian plan. Not knowing any better I switched my XM from my previous vehicle (not guardian). I got a headache talking to them on the phone and decided I could pass on the App sight unseen. Glad I did. You made it cleat that I did not need it! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Dino, great video as always. Glad to know the cost, the features and the over bearing terms of use. I never got that far because the salesman and his manager at the dealership spent more time fussing with the App on my phone and the associated settings in my new Wrangler than anything else during the pick up/deliver process. Big turn off for me and I deleted the App that same day.
Yeah. Makes me wonder if there is some type of bonus for them. Stellantis may make a lot of money from the data they collect. Who knows. After learning what I learned and having made the video, I deleted mine as well.
one of my previous JLRs has remote start. THAT was brilliant! The BMW app does similar and some, plus it's free! An example is you can plan a route on your desk computer then send it to the car!
Cool. I guess BMW feels that since they are making money from the data they collect off of you, the least they can do is let you use the app for free. What kind of car company would make money from the data they collect off of you, and also make YOU pay for the app?
I really resent the idea and cost of these subscriptions but I'm afraid it will be widespread and mandatory in the very near future. I wonder if the Cancel Engine feature makes it harder for thieves to steal. Maybe they have a way of working around it by connecting to the onboard computer. My wife's vehicle forces you to subscribe to a service in order to use remote start. Although, it is handy for starting the vehicle from much farther away. Another great video, Dino. So glad you bought another wrangler and I should have mentioned early how sweet the ceramic coating looks.
Jeep app is free for me. I transferred from the Mopar app. I don’t have access to all the additional features that you have, like start/stop and vehicle tracking. I can just see my garage, 2021 JLUR, and see service records plus schedule service. Jeep Wave and Sirius too. 🎉
Thanks for this information! I just purchased my very first jeep wrangler Willy’s (2024 ) and the salesman informed me about this app and I was wondering how it worked and the cost thanks again!!!
Good overview. Thanks, Dino. For me, I love my Jeep. I am NOT a fan of our local Jeep dealer’s maintenance. I hate that I would have to (1) pay a fee, and, (2) use Sirius XM. A deal killer for me. Thanks again.
I know what you mean. On my 2018 JL, I learned how to do most of the maintenance myself. I made a playlist on how to do most of the maintenance items if you are interested. ua-cam.com/play/PLB3APbpylMYuoMd2FGg5NZQK8EUvxng4P.html It saved me thousands of dollars in maintenance labour charges. Cheers.
Thank you for the feedback on the video. The 2018 JL has the Uconnect four system, the 2024 JL has the Uconnect five, and that’s the system on which I used the app. So I can’t say with certainty, if the JEEP app will work on the Uconnect for system, even though online the JEEP app was out Since 2021. You would think that it might work. You could try getting set up and do the three month trial membership to see if it will work.
I received the app for free with my new car for one year. However, I don't see some of the features like status, engine disengagement, etc. But, I can still start, stop, lock, unlock, and locate my car, among other features. The problem is that the fuel status is not accurate. For example, my tank is full, but the app shows it as half full. Previously, with my Jeep Grand Cherokee, I also received the app for free for a year. Honestly, I don't find anything particularly impressive that would justify paying this price in Canada, which is almost $27 monthly
My volume control behind the wheel stopped working I can use only that one in the panel It’s that has to do anything with the Uconnect app after the 3 months free I got a Jeep Gladiator Mojave 2024 Thank You for sharing
Great information! I did notice when I picked up my 2024 Jeep Wrangler that they had recently changed this app. I remember using a Mopar app before on my old Jeep. The new app is nice, but for some reason it still shows an old Jeep I have in my garage, even though I removed it from my Mopar garage online. Any ideas how to remove a vehicle from the garage in the app?
You have highlighted a problem that I had forgotten to mention in the video. If I don’t remove the link of the app to the vehicle, and then sell the vehicle, my app is still going to be linked to the vehicle, even if somebody else buys the vehicle. Therefore, I would be able to have control over that vehicle. In the terms and conditions, it states that it would be my responsibility to ensure that I remove the connection of the app to the vehicle, a slight problem I see occurring down the road. In your case, if your old Jeep is on your phone app, you are still able to start it and unlock it from your phone, even though you do not own it anymore. 😮
@@CheaperJeeperTV Yes in my case, I had found 2 old Jeeps on the app. One of them I was able to remove when I sold it (but didn't realize it was still there until after I took delivery of my new Jeep). However, there's another Jeep still on the app. I can't remote control it or anything because it's no longer around. It's my daughter's old Jeep she totaled over a year ago. I'm wondering how to remove it. That Jeep probably is in pieces somewhere long gone by now.
Some luxury vehicle car companies began charging for remote start apps a while back and removing that option from the key fob. This has now become somewhat of a standard practice with with quite a few brands now, which to me is just another money grab.
On my 2022 JLU I got the app for free for the first year. It’s owned by Sirius xm and they regular email me offering it for 18.99 a month. I agree with you they get data and we pay, far too expensive when you consider the price of a new JLU. If jeep offered it as part of a new vehicle I would be happy as I do miss the lock unlock feature in particular…of course nothing is free so the cost of the jeep would just go up. You can still use the health recall functions which is pretty good.
Hey Chris, Thanks for sharing. I’ve been reading up on the data they take and am considering doing a follow up video about it. You may find the information helpful. Stay tuned. Cheers
Good stuff Dino. Thanks for sharing info on the app. Sucks that it crashed on you. Some really cool features though, especially if you are letting folks drive your jeep. I certainly wouldn't pay the subscription fee though.
You can start using the app for free, but apparently at the three month mark you are supposed to pay a subscription fee if you wish to continue using the app. Mine started asking me to accept the new privacy policy early, so I just stopped using the app. I’ve also read online some reviews where people state it’s difficult to cancel The subscription.
Does the Jeep app work with older JL’s? My son has a 2019 and I think he would be interested in this. How much does the app cost to continue to use with full features.
Hello, there are a few reasons why the remote start might not work for you. Do a google search for "remote start not working JLWranglerforum". There are a lot of threads on the subject.
I dont understand how this is different than the uconnect app. Is this a replacement? I like the uconnect while it was free but not gonna pay for it. My wife's Kia makes you pay for a similar app after a trial period. These auto manufacturers are WAY too greedy!
This is just an updated version of the Uconnect app that came with new Jeeps the last couple years. Depending on the model you bought ,you got Sirius radio and U connect for a year or more, with the Guardian for a year .Really looks like All they’ve done is call it Jeep app instead of Uconnect or Uconnect Guardian, and added a few extra features, and reduce the free trial length.
Maybe in Canada you could be liable for damages to someone for protecting ypur property, but in most states (except maybe CA IL NY) in the US you can protect your property. Sorry you can't protect you and your stuff. That's sad. Love your content and great tips.
