Yep! SI board in the cluster was dead, causing only the tach and fuel gauge to work. I bought a freshly rebuilt used cluster and everything works great, temp gauge sits at the first line like it’s supposed to.
@@ricegarage btw i had same problem with a si-board, 2 screws in a middle was longer than they should be and have destroy a electric ways on a plate. But i didnt order new board, i just gave it to the repairer and he restored it for a 1 day.

Bad SI board batteries causes e30 instrument cluster chaos, common problem which I fixed. The car had no other problems.
