- The world's tallest current and future skyscrapers.
I've been a fan of buildings since my earliest years and always had books about the tallest of the tall and legos to give it a shot myself.
I have been a bit out of the loop, but with recent "supertalls" popping up everywhere, i decided to get back into it and compile a video about them.
Note: Spires count, Antennas do not. Future buildings are only included, if groundbreaking has occurred. The Abraj Al Bait Towers are just too odd to get a spot in this, maybe later when the final shape emerges :)
Sorry for the occasionally jerky motion, but YT converted the video down from 30 to 25fps which probably causes juddering.
Musical Tracks:
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence
Sebastian Spanache aka "Cdnalsi" - Queen of Goth'arde Part 1 (Prelude)
Moby - Novio
Air - Run
A. R. Rahman - Mumbai Theme Tune
Enjoy! Comments appreciated. - Наука та технологія
I just wanna say this video series changed my life as a kid and totally shaped my musical tastes, opened me up to a whole new world of sound and orchestration and tone, not to mention nurtured my love of architecture.
Thanks, that's nice to hear. I regret that I never got around to doing another update for my viewers. It was simpler back then, or so I tell myself.
My words :)
This video deserves more views, really ;)
Very nicely done. Definately worthy of more viewership!!
Hello from Russia 🇷🇺!!!
Thank you for this video!!!
When I was 3 years old, I always watched this video. And after 11 years I found this video and watch it again, because this video influenced for me when I was small in positive way.
Привет! This is really nice to read! Such comments bring me back too, when UA-cam used to be smaller and felt like a more communal/creative site. I was in a better headspace back then, but it's never too late to fix that I guess.
To a prosperous future, with Europe and Russia allied! 🇪🇺🤝🇷🇺
@@HiAdrian Hello, Adrian! Are you not against that someone makes videos about skyscrapers with your format? I just want to make 2020 version
@@mollonic Hi there! Feel free to use a similar concept/format, that's fine by me! 👍
@@HiAdrian Thank you! I'm gonna make 2020 version then!
@@HiAdrian Hello, Adrian. I've finished 2020 year video. I do not instruct you on watching this but If you'll do it - I hope you like it.
mixes of colossal buildings and mesmerizing musics really goes well indeed.. yr genius dude
Wow, congratulations for this video. Excellent presentation, nice images and accurate numbers. Probably the best I have seen in youtube about skyscrapers. Again, thanks for loading this up. Congratulations for the effort.
Great video, features some of my favourite 'supertalls' nicely showcased, well done!!
This video blew my mind as a kid and I loved the music
Excellent video! Great music and quite choice photos. Definitely makes this skyscraper fan proud :)
Great, follow your dreams Patrick. And thanks!
Totally kickstarted my architectural interest
Anyone 2019?
2020
black screen 2020
Good old days when most of skyscrapers didn't exist till mid-2010s
Thanks for pointing that out. I used rounded meters as reference and a script to parse the corresponding feet. I hadn't thought about the significance for the Freedom Tower. 541m are about 1,774.93 ft.
your video is excellent!!! very well done!
Awesome compilation!
I liked the buildings too ;)
Correct, another viewer already pointed this out. As a european i only had an eye for meters ;)
It will be changed if i upload an update of this video.
This is such a old but good video
♥️
Yup, this was already pointed out to me. The video was meter based. My updated version is nearly done and will be feet based to be accurate.
Great video :)
impressive, inspiring, outstanding, hight quality, it made me feel so glorious as an architecture student, hope next year i graduate.
Thanks a lot for this video :D
OMG!!!!! the worlds tallest building picture is great! great work with the video!!I have rated and subscribed to. =]
great video man :)
I really liked this project. With music by Ryuiki Sakamoto and David Sylvian, nice. I especially liked the intro to each building, could you tell me what software you used for this piece?
Amazing video
very nice video!
awesome vid
the best video on the world
favorited, subscribed, five rated ;)
Cheers! I used Adobe After Effects. Video editing is new terrain for me but being very familiar with PS, i took the plunge and went with a Creative Suite.
Your video was among those that got me inspired in the first place.
I want to update mine sometime (this time 2x YT-res to get cleaner rescaling), but it feels like i made it in a moment of inspiration, that cannot simply be replicated with plain effort :)
awesome video dood, too bad some classics like the ESB are now being forgotten though...the Burj Dubai is sick, they couldn't have picked a better design for the tallest in the world, it's awesome
great job!
with interesting music as well !!
awsome!!! XD!!
Hi, i was on the CN Tower in '94 and it surely is one awesome piece of architecture.
However i decided not to include structures such as Towers, Chimneys and Masts into my video. They don't provide room for people and are in a height category of their own. Maybe some other videos on YT have them included :)
By now the Burj Dubai is the tallest freestanding structure at about 675m.
It depends on the system used. By far the most common is to count spires that are an integral part of the building, but not antennas, which can be attached afterwards at will.
The Sears Towers got its antennas after the building's structure was finished. It does look a little unfair in diagrams, i agree.
Thanks!
Check out Giants in the Sky, it's in two parts and starts at a lower height so the ESB and many more should be included. I will have to start even higher someday, if i want to cramp all buildings into UA-cam's 10 minutes.
Great vid, very coherent and well put together, good job mate.
I wanna go back to Hong Kong!
Wow! thats nice
Yes, the Taipei 101 is probably my favourite, very aesthetic.
I wonder how they're gonna build the Chicago Spire. It looks like a terribly complex task, also considering that it'll house fully functional residential apartments.
thank you for doing this and where did you get these intuigeing songs from?
awesome
Its amazing how all these supertalls are being built in this decade, imagine 20 years from now!
Not much has changed😭
Very nice movie, congratulations!
The final height is secret, but 818/819m is considered the most likely height as of now. The structure is already nearing 700m and quite a bit more than that is to be expected.
Are we still working on that awesome looking chicago spire? And the Pentominium and Federation Tower and Russian Tower?
I'm surprised this video hasn't gotten more recognition, it's really cool, but why don't you count antennas? The Petronas Towers should never be concidered taller than the sears tower... idk I think it's more fair to either count total structure height or highest occupied floor.
Still waiting skyscrapers 2020
I'm assuming you're talking about the Burj Dubai. In a different climate, it probably wouldn't be above. When Dubai is clouded, the layers often hang quite low (~100-300m), so that gives a very strong impression.
i love that video is very intersing
Check the description. Its height varies/changes a lot on the web and i didn't feel like putting "Big-Big-Ben" in there yet. When the final height is certain, and there are any decently sized renders/photos available, i'll include it in Skyscrapers 2008½ or 2009 ;)
I like it, too.
whats the song called when the video is showing the freedom tower and the chicago spire?
They're listed at the end, alternatively check the video commentary.
So UA-cam is widescreen now. Well fuck that, i needed more height for this!
Korea has half a dozen proposals in the 500m+ range and two approved projects above 600m/120fl+. That'll sure be interesting.
@matt270296 Sakamoto Ryuichi - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence
Good eye, that looks like the U.S. Bank Tower in the background. Never noticed that.
Maybe the archvis people ran out of interesting skyline and dropped that one in.
Not under construction anytime soon. Same with the Nakheel Tower.
Check out my 2009 Video; It's more up-to-date, though the same rule applies.
I live in Hong Kong And i am to excited to see the ICC tower compleated ( in the end of 2008 i think)!!
Nearly 30000 views, thanks everyone for the kind comments!
I have now uploaded an updated version of my video "Skyscrapers 2009". It can't compete with the original of course, that was created in a peculiar moment of inspiration ;)
It's difficult to find reliable stats for every building including antennas, as it seems to be uncommon to count them. I find it nonsensical as well , but i guess architects strictly differ between architectural (spires) and functional exterior (antennas) structures.
thanx man
nice shoot ?
It was a font issue since i my OS didn't have arabic language support. This has been fixed in my '09 video.
It just occured to me, that it could also be the font used.
Is برج دبي correct?
Ok Thanks
perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COOL VIDEO!!! xD
Burj Dubui,Sears Tower and Tapai 101 i like!
I always like the desin of Taipei 101 and Jin Mao tower
How do you make a video with photos?
yay!
I'm not aware that it is going to be much taller than ~1000ft. I have to draw a line somewhere to fit the tallest into UA-cam's 10 minute limit.
6:30 what are the two buildings on the right called.
Hehe yeah, it's pretty oldskool.
I wish people would include the height of the antenna's for the Sears Tower. They coun t.
I like Chicago Spire very much.
i wi never forget this video since i watch this i did want to become an arqui
i didin't know that sears tower is so old
5000 views \o/
I barely moved towards 500 the first half month. Thanks to everyone for the kind comments, as i can't respond individually.
The Freedom Tower is actually gonna be 1776 ft tall, to represent the year The Declaration of Independence was signed.
like this song -*-
What is the name of the first song?
No, early 1973 according to most sources.
These buildings are finished, the new building is coming,!
Were is the London Shard Bride a 1,500-1,700 skyscaper under construction D:
It's free of charge, but kind of hard to find in proper quality. Anyone who wants it can PM me their email and i'll send it (MP3 ~230kbps VBR).
can someone please tell me the first song until 1:36
The Spire is the ultimate in building as phalic symbol.
Ang tataas ng mga building grabe no. swerte ng mga my ari nyan.
@HiAdrian the only thing i know is that being on the Sky Deck on the Sears Tower is efing scary, i didnt move from one place! thats how scary.
I had to remove comments. Keep your national preferences to yourself in the future, we don't hate anyone here.
Woow I 1st time saw that in moscow will be skyscrapers and that chicage spire is cool too
great i think in about 2020 in the world will be skyscraper in any capital city :D
I heard that korea is planning on building a skyscraper about 120 floors high
i read chicago was going to build a building 1 mile tall!
even though there is an "econimic crisis" ide like to see more new buildings in the u.s. new york and chicago looked so old
After 911 and a recession, building some fucking tall buildings has got the be the last thing on the us's mind
it sucks that we have earthquakes in losangeles.
we can't have anything this tall.
Wheres the ESB? :(
Burj Dubai will be the tallest building for many years.. at least it looks like
hi adrian I have bin interested in tall buildings since 4th grade i'm 14 years old and i have asperger sydrome. I just went to the willis tower and I have also been to the empire state building
Wow this is old
That's a pretty general question. Learn about video editing programs. If you're on Windows, you could start with Windows Movie Maker.
