      Its Years after you made this video, and i just had to send you a big THANK YOU! Just did this on my sisters 2001 Buick. The buckle would not even go into the receiving end at all. I was able to see the mechanism stuck. After liberally applying silicone and jamming an eye glass flat head screw driver in there i had great success!! Thanks buddy

    THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! My seat belt buckle was driving me nuts! I have over 10 stops a night for work and it took 10-50 attempts to latch the belt. I thought I was going to have to pay $45 for a new one or get one of those belt extensions. This fixed it for me!

    It really works!! my belt has been not "clicking" for almost a year now and finally decided to try to fix it and went with this method before i went to go get ripped off by a "professional". I went to o reileys, bought qd40 and the electrical cleaner, it took about 30 to 35 minutes but it worked!!! and it has no problem with staying locked in besides any amount of pull or pressure . Thank you so much for this vid, because of you my partner was able to sit in the front with me for our 2 hour thanksgiving trip lol 😊☺☺☺😊☺

    I'm a do-it-yourselfer also, but in this particular case it was worth going to the dealer. I got a brand new seatbelt buckle installed (part number 04816-SCA-A13ZA) and it was fully covered by the lifetime warranty. If you're outside of US and your seatbelts are not covered by the warranty then follow this good video.

    I have to admit I was still skeptical that WD40 would solve my problem but it worked lol. Sometimes the buckle wouldn’t work so I’d have to use the passenger side buckle which cuts my neck lol. Don’t know why I waited 1.5 years to UA-cam this issue. I sprayed for 5 sec and it worked. Thank you so much!!!

  • @j_freed
    @j_freed 6 років тому +3

    I owe you one for this! I had been wondering f either WD-40 or Silicone spray were acceptable or a terrible idea. I skipped the solvent spray and gave it a good shot with silicone using the straw from the 40 and a rag.
    And I was so sure a dime coin was lodged in it, nope it just looks that way; the sideways-pushing mechanism gets seized from years of random car gunk. It has to be able to slide or you it won't let you press the clasp all the way into the mechanism, that was the thing stumping me. And because it has a positive engagement the silicone doesn't cause it to slip out, it's only lubricating the sprung internal slider which means the thing either totally works or it doesn't.

      I have the same problem and took it to the Honda dealership last year about this problem. They told me that this particular problem is NOT covered in the lifetime safety warranty and it will cost $600 to fix. I was upset and they offered to call Honda Corporate for me, and they never were able to reach them, so they put the problem in my hands to contact Honda myself. I haven't gotten around to it yet, and the clicking problem is getting worse. Thanks for this video! Saving me $600 but I am really mad that Honda is trying to snake in lots of money for this! They said it "used" to be covered in warrenty but is no longer. Aggh!

    The safe thing to do for anybody else using/riding in the car is to replace the latch. Find one on ebay, the junk yard, online dealer.. The latch mechanism inside does wear out.

      A Seat belt should be Lifetime replacement no charge, as well Airbags, placed into the pricing of the Car, no questions asked, safest thing for all to do is seek a Dealer that professionally takes care of the seat belt, and not us repairing it.

    I will give it a try. Beats taking the seat out and trying to find a part. Mechanics all want me to buy a whole seat assembly for a 20 year old car. I used a six inch padlock to connect the latch and buckle and it was rated for 6000 lbs. It works better than factory standard, but the inspector was a turd muncher about my creativity..It appears factory standard or bust for the yearly stae inspection. Thanks for the inspiration. Twenty year old cars are hard to find parts for!

    okay, you are a genius. WD 40, and screw driver, in all of one minute-ONE MINUTE-after almost a year of slamming the seat belt into the buckle until it finally clicked in, and I'm done, it works, halleluliah!
    but the 'airbag' light still comes on. i think that may be a separate issue. 2004 Civic.
    Thanks so much. How are you for hair growth? Seriously, good info and kind of you to share.

    There is an electrical switch inside the buckle that signals that your belt is locked on and turns off the damn light and dinger. You can short that switch out with oil spray. So first just try blowing compressed air in the buckle to dislodge any crap that fell in there. Then try the knife trick. Then just a little spray. You don't need to douse the thing with oil.

    • @fishycomics
      @fishycomics  5 років тому

      there are no electronic parts in there but a copper connection so no shorting will happen.

      @@fishycomics then how does does the buckle send a signal to the instrument panel to tell the seat bell warning light and beeper that the belt is locked in place?

    Awesome video man, you're a funny great with a great sense of humor thanks for helping everyone out and saving them some money. Thanks for taking the time to make the video for us all. I was taking my car in for a n oil change and inspection and what not and i told them my buckle wouldnt click and right away they just tel me oh its bad you gotta replace it its 106$ for a 2011 toyota corolla driver side seat belt buckle but i loosened it up and slammed it around a littel bit and blew in it trying to see if anything would come out and though i didnt see anything come out after that it started clicking just fine no problem at all.. and the god damn dealer trying to get me to buy a new one saying its broken they cant fix it.... i took it there and told them about the problem because iw as told theres a sepcial tool they use to get seatbelts like this unstuck.... and my car only had a 3 year warranty and the seat belt is no longer covered...... 2011 its 2014 just barley out of warranty and the first thing that broke on my car.... dealers aren there to help you they're just there to lie to you and rip you off
