  • The drivers side seat belt buckle in my 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty pickup stopped working a while back. In this video I show you how to replace it, or repair it if you want to give that a try. I was able to repair mine.

Thanks for your video. The drivers seatbelt latch quit latching on our shop truck. I was ordering a new one when I somehow noticed your video. When you mentioned accumulated gunk build up a lightbulb went off. I took brake cleaner and sprayed down into the latch. After latching and unlatching a few times the seatbelt latch started working properly. Added some lithium spray grease and its good to go.

I am faced with same problem but mine is on back seat so much easier to get buckle loose by just taking the 18mm nut off the bolt on floor. But now I need to figure out how you split the housing apart and how to glue it back together once I get it cleaned out! Would be nice to show video how you split open the buckle plastic housing!

First try rinsing it with almost boiling water, then lube it. Odds are stickiness accumulated over time causing gunk build up. Worked great on mine, 10 minutes!!!!

I’m going to try this should I just pour it down the belt buckle?

Took break cleaner and sprayed down in mine took an orange stihl flat head and put down in there. Started working with in a minute or so. A little dirt can screw a lot up fast

Before you disassemble the whole seat and all, try blowing the buckle out with comppressed air, then squirting some WD40 or PB Blaster in the thing and working the red release up and down. Did that on my 03 F-150 and save a WHOLE lotta time.

There isn't much to it. There's only like two moving parts in there. In the future I'll make a video just taking a buckle apart, but this video was mostly to show how to replace it

Same here. I can choose from fixing the rear hatch release (Expdtn), belt buckle or or oil cooling heat exchanger which is getting oil in the coolant and causing boil out

Does anyone have any videos on how to take the middle seatbelt out/put one in? (not the clipping pant, the actual belt part )

Could do another video just working on belt connector to fix without holding the camera so you can go more into detail . It would be more helpful . Thanks

They're all working fine at the moment but if I have to open up a buckle again I'll make a video for that specifically. Thanks

@@backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223 How did you clean it? Mine is doing the same thing and I thought something was wedged inside it. Might be all gunked up. :(

@@uber2tuber After I opened it I just sprayed it out with brake cleaner and lubed it with WD40, pretty much any solvent and lube combo will work

Yeah they cheap out in way too many places. They all do it, it's more important to have fancy tech than to make parts last

We have a Ford Explorer, 2015, and they are falty. In late October 2022, the black part completely cracked within the first 4 days!🤬
Then the next passenger seat cracked off a month later, and it can no longer be used!
We've got a 2007 Ford Freestyle and never once have they broken.
We've been in a Ford Flex, no buckle issue. Been in another Ford car, no buckle issue, but it did have a seatbelt issue that led to a lawsuit, resulting in a settlement case, still ongoing since 2019, nearly done.
But this issue, what kind of cheap a*$ plastic are they using now that makes it crack so dam fast?! I can tell the plastic is thin, way thinner than older Ford models.
What the f*ck man. They really want another lawsuit huh. Well, they about to make us rich from settlements, sheesh. I'd rather they just make their dam cars better quality, not put my kids lives in more danger!
