This video has sold me on the Light Dome SE for my home studio setup - even though I just placed an order for a Light Dome II. Love it!
I just ordered the Dome II , for its quick take down
Excellent. That black diffuser is perfect for the feeling I want to create.
Great video Sidney. Really enjoyed your review.
Thanks Brian!
Finally managed to find one of these in stock in the uk along with the amaran 100x! Can’t wait for it to arrive and get making videos with them!
Thanks for this video, Sidney! I sometimes film my YT videos in a bedroom so I'm literally trying to figure out a lighting setup right now that doesn't take up too much space 👍
Thanks for watching! Seriously, the SE is the best budget friendly light modifier ever!
Thanks for this really great comparison
I freaking love this thumbnail. Awesome video!
Thanks dude!
I was just talking about lighting my Studio and your video popped up... always listening
I'm listening...

Finally a review on this! Thanks Sid. My space is so small in my room that I can't leave it up and will have to set it up everytime, do you therefore think it's worth it to get the standard Mk II Dome over the SE (do you think I'd get sick of attaching those manual rods everytime to the point that it'd probably discourage me from shooting anything? 😂)
The lighting looks good. What intensity level did you apply with the egg crate?
Thanks. That was helpful.
Very cool. Thank you.
This is a very interesting comparison. Ultimately it's the diameter that affects the quality of the softness of the light but like you say you can't really discern the difference between the two which surprised me this was achievable with the smaller footprint. I only wish my light dome had the grid and I hadn't actually considered using one until I saw your video on the SE.
It surprised me too! I thought the SE would achieve similar results to the Light Dome Mini, but that wasn’t the case. Really good modifier for a studio setup!
@@SidneyDiongzon thanks for the reply and the recommendation. It's difficult in small rooms to use the light dome and there's always the chance somebody will knock over the light stand if they're not watching.
Great video Sidney! Maybe I'll pick one of these up for my amaran 100d... anyone else?
Wait til you see my 100D video :)
@@SidneyDiongzon Looking forward to it, but also, wait till you see mine!! 🤪
I'm thinking about getting the 100D to go with this modifier. But when does the SE come out?
@@BackpackingVideos Aputure has just been telling me “soon” for the last month :/
It’s true...soon 😁
May I know what's that practical light you've got on the left top hand corner?
also those legs!
Really considering it....
Any ideas on how can i gel a Light Dome SE ?
Hey sidney, just want to know the softbox length when collapsed?
Hey Sidney, which of the white diffusers did you use, the thinner or thicker one, or did you use both?
Looks great! When does it come out? It says "coming soon"
lol the chopsticks joke was hilarious
Dude what is a lamp do you use on background?
Any idea when this will be released?
Cant tell the difference in them both like the size difference in depth - Is it not similar to the Apture Mini Dome II that I have ?
Seriously! I can't tell the difference either! It's definitely better then the Mini II hands down!
Any ETA on the release of the SE?
Sold !
Want! Just waiting for Aputure to announce the price and for B&H to have it in stock
$99! I ordered mine from Adorama today. They have em in stock but you gotta call to place the order.
@@sunnyhaair Thanks for the heads up!
Hey Sidney, a lot of ppl mention they have broken the “chopsticks” as when bent they have snapped, did you find them sturdy enough?
Wow really love your content this is amazing. What is your preferred editing software you use for filmmaking, I'd love to have a conversation and maybe even collaborate on different methods in telling stories through film!
Very creative way of showing us the importance of a back light. Thank u. It's a back light, right ?
The one on your left - yes
SE seems to have more spill since the light source is closer to the diffuser, I'm wondering whichever of these two gives better pleasing image for portraits
That’s what I would do SE - “Sidney Edition” stays in the home office! Boom! I am all kinds of terrible there was so many that’s what she said jokes in this video. Great video bro!!
Haha! I might get a white marker and write on it LOL. Thanks for watching dudeb

The missing video on YT (trust me I searched for a week) SE vs Mini II…. Do you know if Anyone has made that video ?
Hold up wait, there's a Light Dome SE now too? Dang this looks awesome, this would be perfect for a 200d! How is this different from the Light Dome mini though? Great Video Sidney!
It's pretty dang amazing. Wait for my 100d video. It's a perfect budget friendly lighting setup!
how does it compare to the light dome mini?
Light Dome SE is way better!!
I'm just wondering how high u dial your 120D II to? 80%?
I usually keep it to 60%
I’d be curious seeing a comparison between the SE and the Dome Mini II, seems like that one just got forgotten in their lineup
I can already tell you...the SE is waaaay better!!
@@SidneyDiongzon Really... that is interesting. Might have to upgrade!!
@@SidneyDiongzon But if i understand it has not the quick setup of the mini?
Great video. Did you get the Mac mini yet?
Thanks! I actually ended up getting the M1 MBP after a weird transaction.
@@SidneyDiongzon oh ok how are you liking it? Are you going to do a video on it?
I like it...but not as much as I thought I would. Video coming soon :)
A way to get more room back?! Heck yeah!
It may not seem much, but it’s so way more spacious in my office!
nicee bro
Thanks for watching!
@@SidneyDiongzon you are welcome sir
How does SE compare to Light Dome Mini II ? I am really curious on that.
I have both, I prefer the SE.
@@hellolau But SE doesnt have the quick setup feature correct?
@@charlesxchaves That is correct.
Are you going to be reviewing the new lights?
Heck yeah I will!!!
Wait? u entered in the frame in the beginning (4th sec) , looked cool and unusual... how?
Asking the eternal question...Which is more important, width or length? 😁
The main thing is the width. The parabolic element doesn’t really do anything, and just unnecessarily takes up space.
The GAS is building..... 😅🔦🔦🔦💨💸💸💸 Butt(hehe) love this smaller option!
New model in thumbnails
LOL
You could give one away. I know someone. :)
greets bro
Dome 2 will be softer which is clearly visible in every single comparison video. Dome 2 is 15 inches deeper which increases distance between the 2 diffusions hence softer. It's better to make room and spend 100 bucks extra because the difference is clearly visible on UA-cam videos
I want to preorder...but i can't even preorder
SOOOOOOON
SE? Just like iphone se. Haha
First :D
Dang it you beat me
I might need to offer giveaways for the first person to comment :)
