Ahh, finally I have found a definitive video to answer my questions about the two
Thanks, this is the info I was looking for!
Great video! Just ordered my Light Dome SE for my small home studio!
I feel obligated to comment for the engagement. Fabulous execution of great informative content, you DESERVE to get big
Great video, straight to the point. Earned my subscription!
Great video, thanks for the in-depth comparison!
Super helpful video! Thanks for sharing!
I learned a lot from all the details, much appreciated. Myself, after shooting through an umbrella for a few months, and waiting a long time for the Light Dome II to even be in stock at the places I usually buy from, I just recently tried one (35 inches) from a company calling itself NiceFoto. I'm not sophisticated enough to judge the details, but it does replicate the easy breakdown of the Light Dome II. Sadly, of course it does not have a gel holder - I could use that for the old Aputure light I have (it runs a little on the cool side, the older C120D). Anyway, it's about $129 US. I've been enjoying your videos for a while ; they are both fun and helpful. - Dave
This was such a simple helpful video. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this review. It has greatly helped my decision to confidently purchase the cheaper/lighter option of the two 😁 for my studio setup.
thanks man! You answered my question within a minute of watching your video!
Thank you for sharing your review!
great as always!
Great thanks!
great comparison. Thank you
I found the 32 inch Mivitar brand parabolic softbox to be a better buy. It has the same construction as the Light Dome SE (the metal part), but it is only $100. Can't beat that with a stick. A trick for setting up the box is to pull only 4 rods into place, all 90 degrees from each other, and then set the end of the rods on the floor and push down on the middle. All the rest of the rods will snap into place without having to do them individually.
I literally only found out just now that that the extra piece on my light dome mini is a filter holder lol that's pretty cool!
Awesome video explanation !!! It definitely answers my need.
hello, i bought one:www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002423827555.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allProduct.8148356.6.26df49ccYDqVXR
Great video. What light stands are you using and recommend?
Helpful thanks!
1:80 Thanks mate, exactly what I needed to know!
Thank you!
Great video
One minute in and I already know I won’t buy the SE. Thanks for starting with this point - massive help
great video, helped me make my mind up haha
me too bro
thanks bro
And then there is the Godox QR- Series of softboxes ;)
I’m really torn apart on the question which softbox to get..?!
Sorry to be commenting after 3 years but I found this video now, good work on everything except at 3:44 when you talk about the quality and say that there's no difference I have to disagree, either the lights where set up differently (angle, distance, power, etc) or the SE has a worse quality. You can see on the left side of the face the rolloff is much smoother for the LD II, no harsh edges more uniform fill (even with youtube's crappy compression). The fact that the SE is shallower and smaller is the main reason for that, the distance from the diffusion element plays a big part in lighting.
Great review thank you. Although I must disagree with the output where you suggest there is hardly no difference between the two. from your own video I can see a very noticeable difference in softness and drop off. which is not a bad for say. if this is what you are looking for than great. The difference in the two dome is the depth. the farther the light sit the softer the light will be. on the other hand you can't make it crisper if you want the look of the SE but you can soften the SE with an additional difuser if you want. so both dome are great as you mentioned and the weight also matter I agree, especially if you have to back pack all your shooting gear on location lol, I'll take the lightest any day.
Light Dome II does look like it produces softer image
I don't know bro
The SE is meant to be a fix solution in a content creator setup
Lol I just bought the SE and didn't realize how much of a pain it is to put together
So is the Light Dome II too heavy for the new Amaran 60D/60X lights?
Apparently, yes
do u think the amaran 60d is bright enough for light dome se?
It should be :) I have the 60x and I shoot it through 2 stop diffusion material. Although, it does depend on what your intended purpose is
I go for the SE
nice bro
absolutely hate my se, 2 of the rods broke in the first day. Also its impossible to take with you, as advertised ofc. spend more get the II instead
I broke mine too in my first attempt. It looks like the red sticks are made with a different material. They look black instead of white as the others. I'm returning it and I'll go for the Dome II instead!
@@riccardogaleazzi im going for the new smallrig softboxes, way cheaper and work amazing!!
@@everonproducties I'm trying with the Dome II and the Dome Mini since they have a different lock system. They also have the filter adapter that could be useful
@@riccardogaleazzi their both really great! They are really overpriced tho imo
damn that filter holder incompatibility is probably the biggest reason to steer clear of the SE ..
THEY ARE SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE
chamkuli I go with the 99 dollars...(Y)
You set it up wrong start with the first four red dots and move on….
The se is a waste.
I don't know bro
