Totally for to say in the video but you can download the SplitBetter file!! Check the description. Also, let me know what you thought of this video. I'm assuming you have a little Fusion knowledge so there's less zooms etc, let me know if this works for you or if you'd prefer more zooms like 5MF. Cheers all :)
Thanks a lot brother this information was really helpful… hope you do lot more great content like this for people who like to learn but could not afford to from a regular classroom…
I've never used fusion, so I'm a perfect example of a beginner, and I think I understood this! I'm planning a video down the road where I'm doing something, but I also want to show what my cats are doing at the same time. I think this will work perfectly :) Thank you very much!
Offcourse !! Playing with the mask and adding background! Why did i not see that 🔥👏🏻 amazing, and yes! You should do much more of this! Thank you kind sir, i really appreciate it
You definitely have the skill of making things seem simple(r). If it wasn't so far I'd come up to Brum to buy you a beer, now we're allowed to again. (Hoorah!)
Awesome, I'm using this in a current project for my playbook. very timely just on time for me. coffee is on the way. I hope you are creating a class, to buy into cause these are all so useful. you are crushing it. thanks Alex, I'm getting your accent much better now, LOL.
These longer form tutorials are fantastic. Further to your suggestion for one on one tutorials from your coffee cup review, how can I buy some of your time?
Thank you man! We appreciate all the details and teaching! (if possible), Could you please make a video showing the best workflow for faster editing? How to create libraries and editing on an external SSD Drive? Your suggestions for reliable external SSD's? Thank you again Alex!
Very useful, and excellent presentation! I use split screens for music videos. I'd be interested in hearing your workflow ideas for syncing 4+ videos to one audio track, especially if you think it's feasible to work into the "Better grid" workflow. Currently, I'm using the "simple split" method, though with a .png grid instead of a fusion comp. I'm gonna try the fusion method for those fancy rounded edges, though!
I'm interested in the same thing. I'm brand new to Davinci Resolve... how do you make templates for 4+ videos? are there other templates you can download from somewhere?
That's great like that! Maybe you could add the zoom in order to help mobile viewers. But to me this way is perfect as I always work with the computer.
OMG Alex!!! How the hell do you know all this stuff? Fantastic educational video explaining complex things in a simple way. BTW what was the explorer you used? Didn't look like usual windows thingy. Keep creating mate.
Yes you can 😆 my fault for not explaining that bit. I put the additional merge node there so its easier to expand with additional split screens if you want to. Copy the second row of Nodes (Alpha BG, Merge, rectangle and merge 4), paste below, connect the merge nodes, add an input and now you've got 3 split screens and so on 🙂👍
Great video, quick question, how would you do a moving split screen bar? By that, I mean a line that moves, let's say clockwise, and keeps splitting two videos clockwise. So imagine the two hands of a clock starting at 12 and 6, then move to 3 and 9, then so on, smoothly splitting the two videos in half as it goes. Thanks.
Ok man ... how did you do the title sections in the video timeline. All your time stamp markers are now titles in the time line and it looks awesome!!!!
It's great isn't it?! UA-cam added it recently. Check my description, you just need to add the timestamps like that and it'll do it for you. The thing to remember is you have to start at 00:00 (like my intro does)
wonderful video have a question. I am on an IMAC when I save the settings file when I reload it either from DaVinci or my desk top, the group goes away... how do I save it and preserve the group ?

I would like to use this workflow with odd framing sizes. Specifically I'm doing a 3x multi-screen composition using a vertical aspect ratio/resolution of 1080x1350. Do I need to do anything special to nest various frame sizes within a timeline?
Wow, great tutorial. Thank you! I followed all the steps that you had already shown above. the split screen works perfectly, without needing any extra cutting or cropping. But there's a problem in my case, when I moved the fusion "effect" into my timeline edit, it's somehow slowed my videos in it by a factor of 0.75 (roughly), so it's like playing in slow mo.. I checked my original videos and placed it in my timeline, it plays normally without any time stretched... could you help me with this case? thank you so much!
Thanks for the great tutorial! I am now trying to make a mask with polygon shapes. The idea is to have three clips, one as a triangle bottom middle, the other two left and right above it (with all three shapes having a corner in the center of the screen, am I describing this so anyone understands? I'd love to post a screenshot). Obviously though, by just making the shapes free hand it does not look good. Any advice on how to make those shapes symmetrical and "orderly"?
OH! I found something. Clicking on the nodes/corners of the polygon shape and pressing e gives you the Point Editor. There I put in 0 or 1 or 0.5 so the shapes filled the screen completely, then I made a margin (border width) to have a frame :)
I am stuck on a fusion node structure which I can't get one effect on. I am using text as a mask on a clip with two other clips as a split screen that sits as a background to the letter masked clip.... so I have three clips running. I want to blur all three clips and key frame the blur . I can achieve everything except blurring just the clip behind the letter mask. When I add a blur node I get the clip behind the letters blurred but also the outline of the letters.. I want to keep the outline of the letters un-blurred. Any help on what I could do would be appreciated. I have been trying to resolve this for a couple of days.
4 Years later your video is still useful. Thank you very much.

Great Tutorial. Easy to understand as Fusion Beginner, in a reasonable time. No unneeded details that are not part of the subject. Thank you.
The best DaVinci channel by far
You are awesome, thanks so much for your freebies. Always excellent presentations.
Thanks! All recent questions answered.... sure there will be more by next week! Love the longer, more detailed format.
The slightly more advanced split screen is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you do the clear direction
WOW, thanks for the "Publish" bit, I had no idea what that did in Fusion!
Just another great tutorial - you make it so easy and at a pace that is spot on for even a little fusion knowledge.
Excellent vid mate! I am amazed at the versatility of DR and you showcasing it.
THANK YOU!!! MERCH THE PUMPKIN CUP!!!!! IT is Awesome, as was the tut!
Thanks a lot brother this information was really helpful… hope you do lot more great content like this for people who like to learn but could not afford to from a regular classroom…
Virtual choir/virtual band editor would love this for sure! Great tutorial as always.. 👍
Huge. Thanks so much for this!
great tut man, thanks for sharing the steps
Your videos are unbelievably helpful! New to editing and Resolve and have learned absolutely tonnes from these thanks!!! ✌🏽

This is great! I had no idea how to use Fusion but you break everything down into easy and manageable parts which I can understand. Thank you!
Offcourse !! Playing with the mask and adding background! Why did i not see that 🔥👏🏻 amazing, and yes! You should do much more of this! Thank you kind sir, i really appreciate it
THANKS Alex! Very useful
My guuuuuuuy another beneficial video always hereeeee he is like a lecturer right guys ?
Well done ! The extra XML sauce is gravy...
thank you man, really nice video.

Nice work. It took me ages to find that group operator trick as it frustrated me when macros i installed broke.
Very Cool!
brilliant

Hey @MrAlexTech
you can tell the Fusion Comp MediaIn/Loaders to take which layer of the Timeline to insert into fusion. Makes it more user Friendly :)

Thanks :))
Hey can you please make a video on the available free plugins for resolve? Please please please.... Many are searching for it
Great step by step tutorial. I'm not sure if the merg 4 is redundant. Can we connect merg1-1 directly connect to merg3 and have the same result?
Yes you can 😆 my fault for not explaining that bit. I put the additional merge node there so its easier to expand with additional split screens if you want to. @@MrAlexTech I see.👍
@@MrAlexTech I guess an additional merge doesn't hurt. It makes things much easier if we want to add an additional screen

@16:15 why do you need two merge nodes ina row. Is that just so it looks cleaner in Fusion or does it actually matter?
Yes you can 😆 my fault for not explaining that bit. I put the additional merge node there so its easier to expand with additional split screens if you want to. Copy the second row of Nodes (Alpha BG, Merge, rectangle and merge 4), paste below, connect the merge nodes, add an input and now you've got 3 split screens and so on 🙂👍
Thanks for the explanation. When you did not explain it in the Friday episode I was a little disappointed.

Hi, these generator files do not show up in Resolve 17 beta. Is there a workaround for that?

Hey sorry for the delay in my response Philip. Pop me an email to info@mralextech.com with a screenshot and i'll gladly take a look for you :)
I'm guessing there's no way for Fusion to automatically use the video on track 1 as input 1 and track 2 as input 2. That'd be really useful.
This Exactly :(
