now sixty years after hearing Judy Garland sing her signature song in the Wizzard of Oz for the first time Ms Didnato fialally surpassed Judy can't get any better than that
I love that last phrase "why can't I" and how it just shimmers into stardust. Cheers to Joyce for singing the Nat' Anthem in Game 7 of the 2014 World Series! A social media campaign got the Kansas City native noticed by MLB.
Beautifully done. You can hear she is from Kansas because this truly came from her soul and someone that knows and has loved this song ever since they were a child. BRAVA
I would have loved to hear an contralto sing it again like Judy, but I love Joyce DiDonato to much to discredit anything about this performance! She has out done it again!
Why is it impossible to find a video of Joyce Didonato's superlative performance of "Rule Britannia" at the 2013 Last Night of the Proms? Every other year can be found, but not 2013. Very strange.

she does but I like it . also like Judy Garland . I like some choral versions also. as a song its trite but good arrangements and singers can make something of it.
Beautiful voice but definitely not the right song to show off her real skills. Operatic singers don’t thrive with show style tunes . Give her some real high meat to work with.
Yes, she's a mezzo. Leave it to Joyce to make me finally like this song!
Same, I don't normally like this song, but she really changed my mind.

Props to Joyce, her accompanist, and the audio engineer!
ese canto penetra mi corazon, bellisimo, canta como los angeles esta mujer. llore mucho.
What an amazing voice and talent and what an amazing person!! She has a beautiful wise soul !!
World class. It doesn’t get any finer.
Flowers in the attic and the rocky horror show... ok then...
I totally agree
Beautiful voice and song ❤❤❤
Eternal Over the Rainbow 😘🌈
Thank you so much 💓🌹
As a fellow Kansan, I feel that this is the best rendition ever. So heartfelt.
Love this song and her voice so beautiful ❤️
So beautifully sung!!! Definitely the best rendition!
Sung isn’t a word, it’s sang

Qué belleza de canto y de interpretación!!!!!!
Joyce is a mezzo-soprano, not a soprano. Her masterclasses are wonderful - there are links to several of them here.
Oh my I love this version
PERFECTION.👌
precioso

Jack L. Gansner Judy was a lyric mezzo, not a contralto, especially when she sang that.
🌸🌿🌟
She is a Mezzo, not a soprano!
A mezzo-soprano...so let's give him a pass!
Fine, just this once!!! haha

No la oigo como soprano. Acá esta mas cerca de una mezzo-soprano. Canta muy bellamente.
I was a big fan of Judy Garland. But Joyce knows how to sing this song beautifully,And I don't think that she sounds operatic here at all.
She does sound operatic. But that is a compliment not a diss.

It's good but this song requires the non-classical technique to me.
