If Nik doesn’t start his next Falling in Reverse reaction holding a violin then i will be disappointed.
Lol Same🤣
He said waiting on 2 full ads
piano, not violin
Need
Either that or during at a grand piano lmao
Nik: I bet they did this like a ballad.
Also Nik: Whoa. I didn't expect this slow melodic reimagining.
🤦🏻♂️
Nik with the guitar is like showing up to a party thinking it's a themed costume party but it isn't.
but also convinces everyone else that he was supposed to wear that costume and it was no mistake
This comment is the part of Nik's commentary that was missing...
Papa roach's version was for our angry teenage angst. This version is for our broken souls as adults after so many 'once in a lifetime' events
I think that is a very accurate description honestly.
Last Resort was always one of those songs me and my friends would sing randomly or make funny versions up of it. But this version honestly struck me deeply lyrically unlike the regular ever truly did. Ronnie definitely re-imagined this 100%
facts!
Yeh no its like disney made a piano version for their next teen love hate vampire scene where they don't get invited to prom
It hurts that you are so right
W comment
Ummm… Is someone gonna tell him there’s no guitar in this song? 😂
NOPE
He should've pulled out his synth😂
🤣🤣
He lost me when he started to ruin this ballad with the guitar
Ssshhhhh
Love how confused Nik is about them shifting the key up a half-step.
"But... Why would you play higher notes when you could play *lower* notes?!"
Generally you lower songs as you age cause your voice can't handle the same high notes you could do before.
SO the mad man Ronnie shifts the key UP instead of down and takes even higher notes a very long time later lmao... truly insane
@@kebb0 not really. Maybe older thrash/heavy metal druggies, but a lot of modern singers can still do it just fine or even more.
@@kintsugi3932 Nope, it's a fact as you grow older the vocal cords gets "lower", thicker really, especially so if you sing and especially so if you scream sing like Ronnie and most "modern" singers do in this genre. This change happens slowly and is not noticeable until maybe 10 years down the line. Ronnie started Falling in Reverse over 10 years ago and also screams and it's insane how powerful his voice still is after the damage he's done to it.
I unfortunately don't have any examples in the rock/metal/punk genre, but in pop we have Adele almost losing her voice due to straining it cause of singing too high, Ed Sheeran lowers the key of his songs when singing live and has written later songs in a lower key compared to before, which is what most bands do after they find the correct key for a band.
In any case I'm studying to become a music teacher and care of vocal cords is part of it and therefore I've done some small research on it. All I know is that as we grow older the vocal cords gets deeper and as every muscle, gets strained if exercised incorrectly. Think of soccer players or any athlete really, as they get older they can't perform at the same level as when they were in their prime.
I think the key of the stringed instruments is generally Eb. The song is in drop D so transposed a half-step up. It's the only logical reasoning I have, I could also be totally wrong
@@kebb0 Did Ronnie damage his vocal cords? I've never heard of that
What blew my mind was realizing the "set" is the aftermath of Watch the World Burn
Thank you, I've didn't noticed, really it make sense and for me it just gives more of emotional feelings, since Watch the World Burn really crawled under my skin (in a good way)
Kinda shocked a lot of people are saying they didn’t realize how dark the lyrics were in this song
Same!!! It's literally a song about depression, suicide, and self harm. Back when it first came out and I was a teenager, it was a personal ballad of mine because I related to every lyric except for the part about his mother and it helped me feel like I wasn't alone with how I was feeling when I was going through my depressed and emo phase (who am I kidding, it was never a phase lol)
When some of the first lyrics you hear are "Dont give a f*** if I cut my arm bleeding", I don't know how one misses the tone of the song🤷♂️
To me at least I think it was because it seemed just like a teenager emo song instead of having actual deep sadness which was a little hard to grasp from the energy of the song. It’s the same thing with gone away by off spring being about his wife dying but they did it up beat where five finger deathpunch covered the song and did it slow and dramatic which was way better for the context
It's because of the beat, imo. It gives the song a completely different feel.
Halocene turned "The Kill" by Thirty Seconds To Mars into the most cinematic masterpiece ever. Lyrics are great and powerful, but the beat that accompanies them is what drives the song.
This song sad AF now, but it's beautiful.
Its common for tone to get misconstrued through music that is fast paced and lacking minor chords.
Slightly echoing something Nik already said in the video...
One thing I'm glad with this cover is how clear and understandable the lyrics are. I'm not the best at recognising lyrics in songs unless I read along or pay super close attention, which means I never really knew the full lyrics to this song till now. Quite a sad song.
I'm actually shocked at how many people never seemed to know the original lyrics, personally I knew them perfectly because they resonate with me. (7 self un-lifeing attempts before I was 18)
@@SilvaDreamsi hope you're in a better place now, my guy 💙
@@SilvaDreams
@@SilvaDreamsThat's why I never really liked the original. Most people didn't get the depth of the lyrics, because the music didn't really fit them! They just liked the aggression and attitude. But then, I also wasn't a teenager by far when this came out first.
It's the same with pretty much all Linkin Park songs, lyrics are very deep but we never really thought twice about it cuz of how the song is sang. If anyone did acoustic covers / rearranged their top hits everyone would start crying lol
Still amazes me that scream artists that have been in the scene as long as ronnie have stopped screaming due to vocal damage. Meanwhile ronnie out here screaming and doing fuckin opera
What I liked about this is that both Papa Roach and Falling in Reverse are able to put accurately depict desperation in their music in completely different ways. Papa Roach in a way that depicts it as anger and reaching the end of your wits and wanting to fight the world, but simultaneously wanting to give up on that fight because you just can't take anymore. More of a plea for the world to leave them alone. Falling in Reverse's version of the song feels like the end has come already. They've made up their mind and this is the sorrow they feel pouring out of them in the last few desperate moments of their life. Almost a suicide note in the form of a song. When taken in context of the lyrics, it's very hard to listen to because it touches very raw emotions. Both bands have done an excellent job.
It was originally written on piano, but they changed it for the final release
This. Is. The. Best. Comment. Ever. 🤘🤘🤘
I think at the end when the buildings start to rebuild when the lyrics say, "I can't go on living this way" it represents the opposite of the original. Basically, I can't live like this anymore so it's time to "take back my life" essentially, as to where the original was basically saying, "yeah, fuck it, I'm done". If that's the case, then I love the way Ronnie flipped it to make it positive. The video, I'm PRETTY SURE is the world after Watch the World Burn... it's all ashy and that's why it's crumbling. And that's why it shows the damage to the Earth being reversed at the very end. Pretty cool way to tie the videos together.
And then there's songs like "Bullet" by Hollywood Undead 😅
Sounds happy as fuck, but lyrically depressing.
I'm not going to lie and pretend I didn't own Infest on CD but I also did shit on this song a bit even though I liked it. This version makes me realize "I'm losing my sight, losing my mind, wish somebody would tell me I'm fine" are really the only bad lyrics in the song. Which those are so in the foreground in the original where the really good lyrics are being rap-rocked at you so they lose some meaning.... or like feeling at least. Impact, whatever. I have more respect for the original version after hearing this.
Bro missing the guitar so much he's adding it himself 😂
Now all we have to do is copy pasta and bass.
I can't help but imagine this was a bet by someone in Papa Roach saying that he couldn't reimagine it 😂
The fact they just toured together.. I bet.
There is now a papa roach reaction on the official falling in reverse youtube channel
This cover feels like everyone lost a bet 😂
@@benharbak hm I doubt it. Papa roach loved his cover. There’s a video of Ronnie playing the cover for the guy who made the og song and he thought it was awesome.
I was watching this in peace then my roommate blurted out “oh god he hit the second tower”
This version makes you realise how deep the lyrics actually are
It's crazy how the original we didn't really pay attention to the lyrics as we were all too busy rocking out. This version is absolutely beautiful, and the lyrics hit hard.
Hell, I did. Think it depended on your mindset when It came out. I definitely did. Didnt really like Ronnie's version. He did a good job but didnt like the style change.
lmao bro come on 💀
My number one problem with this song has always been the lyrics, I think you couldn't make them cringier if you tried
@@_DZ_ They are every depressed 16yo’s thoughts basically, not very sophisticated but the emotion is there and that’s what matters at the core
Come on, falling in reverse is one of the worst bands
This may be closer to the original than you think: The idea for the song came from Bassist Tobin Esperance who always played piano at home, the band liked it and the is history. So this version feels like "What if they had decided to make a piano ballad out of this song?"
That’s the thing: the piano and slow pace fits better… papa roach was more angst, whereas this was more haunting and moving!
@@fizzyjecadomoving out of a plane with no parachute
Is it just me or dose it follow watch the world burn, the end, the world restores after WTWB burned it at the end. Also, most high budget cover I’ve ever seen. NIK I LOVE YOU!
Yes! I also noticed this
I feel like the whole song is a sequel almost. The city crumbling apart could be the aftermath of the fiery explosion that killed everything alive in WTWB.
yes i noticed that when i first watched it
What was the budget?
THATS WHAT I WAS SAYING!! It’s like in his other music videos there’s always a reference to other ones. Like in “Voices in my head” there’s a reference to “Popular Monster” and in “The drug in Me is reimagined” there’s a reference to “I’m not a vampire reimagined” and in Watch the world Burn, at the end the world is burning, and at the end of this, the word is being rebuilt. So cool
this reimagined version of the song just broke my heart. I’ve never realised how sad the lyrics are. When I heard this for the first time I actually cried… It’s just unbelievable how “different approach” to the song gives you totally different feelings about it. I was (and still am) literally stunned.
Papa Roach is the angry version FIR made it sad, that's depression in a nutshell.
was about just writing the same
@@CaptainFirefred Yeah, and it got me good, right in the feels, right in the heart. I was speechless for half an hour after I've heard it first time, was just staring at the wall trying not to cry.. just WOW....
numetal vocals packed more emotion than people could understand
@@Jusus22Your standards for music are low as fuck if this moved you lol
I'm 37 and grew up with this song, and I have never once heard cut my life into "pizza". I don't know how that's possible
Wow, never knew these lyrics were so sad, gave me chills. Really cool to see a song done in a way that feels to different.
"cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort" yeaaah who knew it was a sad song lol.........
Did you notice the palette of the shots in the video was dark grey? It’s conveys sadness.
Jensen did a great job!
Wow you never knew even the first lyrics coming from it says it all?
@@Heavymetal16 not everyone is fluent in English, it's easier to understand there
@@Vampupy bruh....... Gtfo
I love both versions, but I think Ronnie’s really highlights the meaning of the lyrics
YES!
Dude got me over here crying at work. Been 2 years since I lost my mom, she was way too young. That pain is fucking REAL.
@kevinb873 sorry for your loss bro 😥
The best description I've seen is that Papa Roach was the angsty teen, FIR version is the broken adult.
this cover reminds me alot of David Draiman covering Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel, really slowing it down, getting the more operatic elements in there and letting the lyrics paint a kinda whole new picture, was really surprised by this
I saw someone say that the original was the angsty teenager rebelling at our parents, and this version is that angsty teenager grown up into a broken adult still lost in the world, and it makes you think.
dude when you started playing guitar over it the first time that actually sounded pretty good!
No it didn’t
nah
It did tho
Killed the mood of the song for me
Been interesting to see how little anyone paid attention to the lyrics
I love how nik showed up with his guitar... and Ronnie has no guitar in it. I fing love nik
I was not expecting this for sure! BUT despite of that, this was the best out of the box Ive heard nowadays! Simply beautiful cover!! All the lyrics sounded so different in this tuning! So deep as you said Nocturnal! Beautiful, glad you reacted to this, made me discover a whole another level way of this song could sound! NICEE
I love it when you play along tbh, we just need a mashup with the og and this version now
Ronnie put so much work into this im so happy for him and how he was nervous what jacoby would think. This is absolutely beautiful!
Did Jacoby make any comments about this version of the song?
Pretty awesome reaction vid where Ronnie plays it for Jacoby
@@JeffTiberendper the video of him listening to it, he seemed to be absolutely blown away
Song: Mutilation out of sight
And I'm contemplating suicide
Nik: very pretty
😂
I loved it, the cinematic quality of Ronnie's videos has gone so hard lately
Now I really want Nik to do a metal cover this awesome cover of Last Resort!
“Proof anything can be metal (number)”
**proceeds to play original Last Resort**
Really nice to see all the music you have been putting out there this year brutha
This was such a pump up song when I was kid. I had the same reaction when I heard it. It was a realization to what the lyrics were really saying. A real cry for help
I would love to hear you play a version with the guitar! That sounded good!
I just love you and your vids! Thank you ❤
Dude, I was waiting for this video so much
*Laughs in poor*
One of my favorite lines of all time 🤣🤣🤣👏🏽
Wasn't the whole point of the original that the lyrics were super dark but it was a heavy party song?
I've listened to this one a ton and yeah, it could've gone a different way but for me, as you point out, the lyrics take on a whooole new life, having them spoken and sung as to how Coby was feeling and obviously going through when the lyrics were originally written. Then having the genius of Ronnie throwing down his lyrical and god-tier styling with them, the piano and orchestration was enough for me. I was hoping for SOME guitar, but the other few "Reimagined" FIR tracks have all slayed, and this did not fucking disappoint. Bra-fucking-vo.
I actually really like when you add the guitar to this 👉🏾👈🏾 i just love the sound of electric guitar but damn hearing this as... A classical sound is INSANE??
Ronnie is building a movie plot through his recent single releases. Watch the World Burn and now this ending. I definitely enjoy the continuity even if im reaching.
idk if i'm crazy, but this is the same as the "Pretty Songs with Heavy Metal Lyrics" from Stevie T; or Ed Sheeran singing cannibal corpse on the tonight show.
This song needs the aggressive stuff, the "i dont give a fuck if i cut my arm bleeding" is almost hilarious in this version. The depression and borderline of the original song cannot be portraited in a pretty song like this unless the lyrics are changed at least slightly, because if not, we end up with this Comedy Band late show bit version.
Yeah I'm with you. I'm not a huge Papa Roach fan or anything, but I am familiar with Last Resort, and all this cover did for me was make me want to revisit the original (which I did, and enjoyed a good deal more than the FiR version). The lyrics are so over the top that I can't take them very seriously, which is fine if I'm listening to Papa Roach jamming out, but when this new cover wants to be taken seriously it just falls apart. Not to mention how obnoxiously autotuned the singer sounds.
The lyrics have always been so deep for me and I’m just having a hard time today 😂😂😂 thanks Ronnie ❤❤❤❤❤
my boy really brought guitar into this one
I am also grateful to him for that, that was absolutely important to make it a bit bearable.
They did an excellent job with this, this is fire 🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥👌🏼
Bro I have been waiting for your review on this lmao. This gave me chills, the whole time. I had the same reaction, this song was on my playlist for years and I had NO IDEA the lyrics were so emotional. Presenting them this way was an incredible idea.
I feel like Ronnie's version of this is similar to what Disturbed did with sound of silence, just my first thought listening to it
I see people complaining on Twitter about over production… I don’t mind it but Ronnie’s vocals made the song for me.
@@fizzyjecado I think for one of the high notes i heard some of the autotune/production kick in, maybe not im not an audiophile - and I kinda disliked it but that was a fleeting moment in a fantastic vocal performance as you say
That song was amazing! Such a brilliant and genius change up.
Couldn’t wait to hear what you thought about it. Shows how depressing and sad the song really is as It always was for me back in the day
Just saw Falling In Reverse live last night, and they used this video in their show. It hit hard, and I almost cried. Absolutely beautiful moment.
If I saw this live for the first time I would’ve been crying and shitting my pants cause papa roach was my first rock song and FIR is my favorite band.
Dumb question: Was it performed live or was it just the video on screen?😅 Just wondering how the vocals sounded live considering the auto-tune.
@JeffZ1028 It was used as a costume change for Ronnie, so it was just the video. He sings everything without track, though.
Dude watching the Jacoby Shaddix reaction to this is pretty dope!
I love how Nik's face changes over time listening to this masterpiece 😊
It sounds so much like a mandatory Eurovision entry.
Lmao accurate af.
Yup... With more autotune
It sounds like those Russian TATU girls
@@poubelle317I don't hear any auto tune.
@@angelamiller2577 Well, consider checking your ears. The autotune is so heavy it is almost unbearable but I guess it is stylistic
Chills...just chills down my spine
Jc get a grip dude 💀
The details in mv is amazing, one of which is, the angel statues which are playing orchestra, are also crying....
This is my new favorite Falling In Reverse song! It is incredibly beautiful! I for one am A okay with the complete change. It is so EPIC!
All their lyrics were really dark back then
i fell like i have accomplished something seeing the video so soon after it was posted
Me too. I actually by random got notified on it 3 minutes after the official release. BAM here's a new video people. No advertising on this one😂
@@LeperMessiah2 i have had that happen pretty recently with a few other youtubers vids
Been waiting on this!
Honestly this is how dark I remember this being when I listened to it in middle school. I think it brings out more suffering.
Love that a lot of people had the same reaction as Nick (for what I read in comments) of “damn, this lyrics are really deep” or harder than what they thought 🤣 and it’s a nice surprise, I wanna think ✨
I Think he did a great job! Ronnie Continues to show off his amazing Vocals!
The autotune is horrible.
@@MrNimrod42 😐
This is the reaction I've been waiting on
This will totally play in the background of the next MCU project.
They love their ballad reimaginings of classic songs
This remix definitely made me realize how many of the lyrics I completely got wrong. And have been singing them that way for like 20 f****** years.
I'm actually surprised no one thought to do this with this song before. The lyrics are perfect for a ballad. I think a lot of people didn't realize how dark and sad the song actually is. The original is a banger, but this is the version I've always wanted.
The call back to "Watch the world burn" at the end is cool.
I'm glad someone took an afternoon to create the CG for this video.
I was kinda hoping for an evanescence type transition from orchestral to big guitars and drums in that final chorus.
Ronnie's voice is very alike to Jacoby. I noticed it when FIR single Loser came out. So it's a good idea for ai cover creators to switch vocals for those bands.
I need te re-reimagining of this
Is this the Nik covering covers arc, would love to see a "making a Falling in reverse reimagined metal"
Nik was too focused on the original vs the new instead of taking in Ronnie's version as it is and appreciating what a marvel he made.
Damn, I kinda want to cry to this version 🥺
I actually did. Lol
the major switchup during the major switch ups lmao. nice
So Nik, I guess you could make a middle ground version of the track where its cinematic but still has the sick riffs. Get on it!!!
I want Nik to do a rendition of this with added guitar.
I love how the buildings r crumbling down until the lyrics turn around and start to acknowledge that they r not fine. It's like a visual representation of the lyrics
Yup. And the ending when he’s screaming, they go up, like he’s fighting back his instincts/survival mode.
Exactly, he opened more perspective on the og song. I felt so much emotion.
Nik should reverse engineer this version to include the guitar again , so we have 3 amazing versions of a great song
The pitch screams at the end are insane you're right
The song is literally saturated in autotune to its detriment.... It's VERY easy to autotune a scream.....
@@edge3uk Crying about what you think is "autotune" in 2023 is the most fried shit I've ever heard 🤡
Best comment I have seen: "The OG was the angst I needed as a teen and this is the raw emotion I need as an adult"
You really catch the meaning of the words this way. Ronnie knocked it out of the damn park.
Am I the only person here who really loves FIV but thinks this song just wasn't the one?
I had to scroll so far to find a negative comment. I like some of FIR's music, not a fan of Ronnie as a human being... but this song is crap.
I'm surprised how many people don't realize how deep is song really is I love Ronnie's music video it it shows yes your world can fall apart around you but it's never too late put it back together that's something the original never had Ronnie's like fine wine he gets better with age
Just goes to show a song can have lyrics that beat you over the head with its absence of subtlety and people don't get it until someone sings it slowly while playing piano 😂
Love the reimagining version
This is a beautiful reimagined version, damn. Lyrics hit hard too
I've been waiting the whole song for the guitars to finally start and end this tragedy.
😂 nah this well done not something I’d listen to on my own but it is very well done
Its like a Michael Bay Transformer final fight without the actual robots
They killed this cover though. I never listened to their music much, but Ronnie’s interpretations of some older songs have been awesome
I was gonna comment that this is Baycore. 😂
Beat me to it. 👏🏼
Agree, his newer music is fire. Older stuff is a little to metal and screaming for me.
Nik did you listen to the new Crystal Lake stuff? I miss Ryo but it’s so good!!! Still feels and sounds like Crystal Lake!
This song makes me emotional 😢it’s so beautiful
This shit is legit chilling how good it is
Ronnie never disappoints. This doesn't even feel like a cover. He made it his own.
i wonder if this came about at a party while on tour with papa roach as a dare lmao i loved the way this song built
Not the first comment I’ve seen like this 🤣 probably them fucking around joking about it and Ronnie being like “listen listen you may have influenced the millennials, but I bet I can break them down” 😭🤣
I love the original, and im not really a fan of FIR, but i have to say, this is amazing.
The first time i listened to it i didn't really like it, just cus im not a huge fan of - sorry if i use the wrong term - high voices, i prefer lower tones, but after a couple more times, it grew on me a lot, a very beautiful reimagining of one of the best songs of the 00's
