I just know whoever objected is both watching this video and reading these comments. So howdy, objector! Commiserations in advance for your misery seeing these 2 beautiful humans creating a beautiful home despite your lonely negativity. Enjoy from afar! 😆
I work for a large builders merchant in the UK. I had a customer building 6 houses. He told me to check out the planning and the objections. So I did... one of the objections was a Doctor who didn't live in the area any more. He was renting his house out. The houses weren't spoiling anyone's view yet he said they were. Fine people can be Karen's. What made his objection worse was he plugged his book he had written at the bottom of his objection! People are weird. The retaining walls in this aren't block anyone's views so why bring it up? If you're getting along with your neighbours and this person has remained anonymous it could be someone who watches your vids. Loving everything you're doing, you're smashing it so far 😊
Some people are so miserable that they will object to planning permission just for something too do. They are probably jealous that 2 young people have got further in life than they will ever do/did. Fingers crossed the planning goes your way and you can build a dream home. Keep smiling 😊❤
Some people really do feed on bad feeling! Fingers crossed it doesn’t affect your planning permission! Your plans are clearly going to make the property much more appealing!❤
There’s always one jealous neighbourhood crank! Don’t they realise your enhancing their neighbourhood 😂 duncy people, your doing amazing and am 🙏 you get your planning passed xx
It says they are anonymous. I doubt they even live in the local area. Also they are objecting with reference to the videos. If they were real they would have taken photos from the road.
You two are such hard workers and you have done an amazing brilliant job of those walls. Very professional. And as for the anonymous nay sayers, they know they're being miserable, that's why they won't put their name to their complaints. Keep up the good work guys xx😊
Personally would go for a cream or more earthy colour, white can look quite stark and cold in the winter, hope your drainage has been well proven this week!
walls look mint, hope the planning all goes through. I recon who ever has put the rejection in is just jealous of what you have both achieved in such a short time. Keep up the good work and don't let the Karen's get to you 👍
In terminal of the wall colour, I would use an off white and then put some plants. Use something that it is easy to repaint in parts when needed. Good luck with the permissions!
Amazing 🤩🤩🤩 well done, a soft white with sandstone capping would look stunning but hey you guys have totally got this, whatever you do will look fabulous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
1. Motivation - Keep your spirits up as the nights get short and cold, I'm at the same point in our renovation and it's a killer, especially for video creation. You're doing well. 2. Objections - Personal opinions mean next to nothing for the planners considerations, unless you live next to a councillor. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. 3. Subscribed - ✌
Guys. Love your videos and literally give us knowledge and diy tricks. Wish you good luck with your planning permission. Don’t worry about a needle in the haystack. It’ll go through. Keep doing the good work.
Next pro tip this time it’s lighting! I have some ‘box lights’ they are the sort of lights photographers use with extremely bright curly bulbs. Now i mainly use these for painting etc at night because it’s almost as good as day light. You could of course use them outside if you wanted as long as it isn’t raining. The bulbs are delicate so there is only so many times they can be knocked over before the bulb will break so keep spares on site.
All of my fingers and toes crossed that planning comes through for you. And to the anonymous neighbour who is clearly watching these videos; I hope you feel proud of yourself for being such a miserable person. Be more supportive and perhaps even offer a hand or bugger off. They are clearly jealous that a young couple is achieving so many awesome accomplishments and have the means to do so ... Don't let them dampen your spirits! Looking forward to seeing more of this reno! Xxxx
Amazing amount of work you've done 😮 the going over with the float really helped, the walls look great! Fingers crossed for your planning permission. You've basically done the front now which is a massive job. Can't wait to see what you do next! 😊
Omg some people have nothing better to do!! 🙄 they are probably so miserable that they feel the need to bring others down too!! It's laughable actually 😂 you guys are smashing it and I love that the guys from restoring number four have come over to help! I can't wait to see you guys in their videos too!! 😍
Well done, you're doing great walls looks fantastic .and you have fantastic friends. Not many would put themselves out like that shows you're all good people
We put in some colour fence in our garden which is metal - sounds hideous but looks really lovely. A friend of ours who is an interior designer, told us that a darker colour would look better with the plants and shrubs next to it, so we chose the dark blue. We are so happy that we did because it looks so lovely and it means less maintenance too (we dont have to wash it all the time). If you choose white, you will be repainting and your plants will get in the way. We also have a cream block wall and planter and I have to paint it yearly. Loving your work guys.
House renos never easy but chin up don’t worry about negative comments or neighbours I been doing it 25 years push on worry later well done to you both
I’m so invested it’s crazy. To the objector, I hope it’s good news and I wish we could see your face! Love you both and hope you make 1 hour videos going forward 😂
British Gas did a fine job, very tidy pipework - lovely job. The render you guys have done is a great achievement and will look stunning when painted. Rise above the grumpy objector and just keep doing the best you can. Positivity and support make everyone happier but some people get themselves all worked up instead of having a simple 2 minute chat. Good luck with the planning, I predict an approval very soon 😉
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Nicky & Harri ❤ I hope you hear about your planning soon. You're both grafters & have put your heart & soul into this renovation. I love Sandtex masonry paint in Ivory Stone, Chalk Hill & Cotton Belt. Sending you both a big hug 🫂 Stay strong guys. You're amazing! ❤❤xx
I'm glad you are putting in coping stones on the retaining wall, so many people don't bother because they want clean lines, but as the saying goes "your wall is only as good as the hat you put on it". Make sure you fill the joints really well to the edges of the coping stones and you shouldn't have that horrible dirt marks on your walls as rain runs off.
I've just this week found your channel, I love it! If you are seeing an increase in your old vlogs that's probably me working my way through them all. Such a lovely, highly motivated couple. X
Amazing vlog as always, guys. You're absolutely amazing and have such great work ethics. Don't let the grumpy people get you down. Have a good week...😊😊😊😊😊
Congrats on getting the planning. I'm glad the objection didn't have any basis on the application! I Can't wait to see the project progress with the extension!
I can't keep up with you two - you get through so much each week. Fantastic, informative and never a dull moment video. My favourite bits? 3:37 and 4:18 Nicky dancing - go Nicky! 14:28 🎶🎶" I saw the cresent, you saw the whole of the moon!"🎶🎶 Alfie just casually raking! 20:10 British Gas did a great job, so neat. We use them too! 22:10 Nicky munching on a crisp haha! Can't wait to hear whether you got planning or not in next week's video! xx
Really enjoying these videos! Good on you both for taking on such a huge project. Those walls look amazing, any shade of white will look fab but would just consider the colour plans for the house colour. Can't wait for next weeks video, you pair are an inspiration! 😊❤
I’ve just had a new boiler and soakaway installed by British Gas, genuinely not a bad word to say about them, they had surprisingly amazing customer service and the whole thing was an absolute breeze.
Jasmine white is a good colour for the external walls! 😊 It’s funny, because I do home renovations with my partner and when we take a tea break, we look for a video of yours to watch! Looks amazing guys, keep it going
My friend had a small bungalow and applied for planning to just renovate the bungalow. She had an objection from a neighbour who claimed the view from his 3rd bedroom would be affected. She went back to planning a lot - but ended up building a 4 bed house on the site instead which didn’t upset the neighbour at all, so stick with it, it will happen, and maybe end up better than you first planned. 🤩🤩
Hi, really enjoying your videos on the bungalow and do hope you get the planning permission for the extension, but noticed this week that one of your friends was loosing his jogging pants and we nearly had a full moon (18 Certificate only)😂😂😂. Keep up the great work.
Job well done - I am impressed that you had ago at doing the rendering as a keen DIY-er myself gave me the inspiration to do the inside of our garage - Really like the Brass fittings on the Rads 😎
Loving the context of the videos...for objector of your planning well i hope he reads the comments and watched your channel.. postive thoughts guys. you have got this...karate chop the objector. who ever you are x
We are embarking on a similar project at the moment. Just ourselves and the occasional bit of labour. So it has been really interesting following your progress so far.😄
I would paint the walls proppa bright white and burn sleeper blocks to give them that Japanese style effect to edge your walls and I think the bright white and the chard black sleepers will look realy cool and rustick
With regards to paint I would strongly recommend Emporer Exterior paint. I heard about the product on YT and whilst not cheap it is excellent. It's breathable and waterproof with added self cleaning properties. Did my house in an off white colour last year and it still looks brand new. Good luck with planning.
You could paint white but then add some climbing plants all the way along. Star Jasmine is an evergreen the flowers four months of the year with a lovely fragrance the bees and butterflies love it as well!
Morning another fantastic video, great to see the walls taking shape. With regards to to colour A light colour will help reflect light into the area down by the front door on the upper wall maybe grey Either way it will make the house look ultra modern. Until next week keep safe.
Well done with the retaining walls they are looking fantastic. Hope you get your planning permissions, there is always one that wants to spoil it for you... hopefully you can take no notice. Xx
Just watched. You 2 are amazing. I was so angry that someone is trying to squash your enthusiasm with putting in an objection for the planning permission. Pray it goes through for you. Keep going, we need more younger people like yourselves in this world. Ambitious, determination and dedication to the future. Much respect and support 🙏 ❤
Go grey Who ever objected, follows your channel. Some people are just jealous, that is unfortunately the downside to social media. Your improving the house, the local area and raising house prices. Oh.. maybe that's the issue Keep going guys
What troopers you guys are working in the cold wet weather. My thoughts are for an off-white, maybe light sandy colour. I hope it all works out with the building permit. I’m not sure why anyone would object to it as it’s the back of the house. 🤨
Hi just to say my daughter lived next to an cantankerous old lady who was also on the town planning council!! So when my daughter came to having a cabin built in her her garden she tried everything to block it!! My daughter persevered and had to appeal but she did get her permission. Ironically the cabin had been built to the measurements the council require from a neighbouring fence anyway?? There's always one out there! Good luck guys you all work so hard.xxxxxx
Fingers crossed on the planning guys...harri keep smiling mate...top man...nicki..an inspiration, you work so hard! Great video guys, look forward to next week...can't wait to see these walls all painted! ❤
Sorry I’m late to the party….. been doing some internal wall insulation and chased a couple of sockets today 😅. Great work guys! Chalk looks great with agate grey. Keep on keeping on. 💪❤️👷
Looking great, amazing work! There's always one … As a decorator I'd recommend Johnstones trade Stormshield Mixed to Farrow & Ball James White lovely off white 🙂 Keep up the great work!
@@NickyandHarri Although it's tempting, hold off painting for a while, Cement render takes ages to dry especially this time of the year (months) so hold off painting it for now. I'd leave till the spring if you can. Remember to mist coat, Patience is key with drying render. You don't want the paint flaking off... Look forward to seeing it painted
I have very different taste to yourselves and know I'll probably not be a fan of how you decorate BUT we all have different taste and I watch your videos because of the absolute graft you both put in and what you achieve is so impressive you should be so proud and I'm sure it inspires others to give things a go themselves. The person who has objected should really be ashamed of themselves for trying to put you both down for no good reason. What a sad sad person 💔 really hope you get your planning permission 🤞🤞🤞
I cant believe someone went to such effort to dig you out on your planning permission (pardon the pun). I hope all goes through ok, I'm excited to watch you build the extension. 🎉
Politics of envy is so sad. The objecter is probably old and can't believe two brilliant motivated youngsters have a great house and an excellent UA-cam channel. Bang on guys, ignore them❤💪👍
Watch out for rust coming through the white remdered wall if using steel corner beads - I speak from experience sadly! Great Work guys - love the videos! Keep pushing on....
You are always going to get someone who "objects" its usually jealousy because they see you are trying and able to do a lot of the work yourself and making a nice home out of your efforts and its something they wish they could do but can't for whatever reasons, (unable to physically or financially). Keep your chin up and keep going fingers crossed for the approval of the planning application.👍👍🤞🤞
re: the wall color -- considering your house is at the bottom of a hill and the wall is pretty much all you're going to see any time you look out the window, why not do a mural of some sort? a wildflower garden...rolling green hills on the lower with mountains on the upper...something that won't make you feel so closed in whenever you look out. Good luck with the reno! hope you get your planning permission.
@@NickyandHarri also fingers crossed for the planning. Someone in the vicinity has some issues obviously... Maybe jealous of what you're doing or maybe there is some other issues... Its a shame that people can't talk to one another anymore and voice objections... Instead opting to hide behind anonymity and trying to stop progress... I hope the council see through the objections but if not you have the right to appeal don't forget! Fingers and toes crossed for you both! 🤞
One thing you overlooked(maybe, by the looks of it in the video) - Your angle beads, were they for render? or internal?(what mm thick were they?)....also, it looks like you fill the beads on your first coat, always leave the beads hollow so you fill them out on the last coat, otherwise you end up rolling the beads(where they go curved)

I'd leave till the spring if you can. Remember to mist coat, Patience is key with drying render. You don't want the paint flaking off... Look forward to seeing it painted
Tell Alfie to pull up his trousers😅
I also looked to, did I see pink undies or a bare butt 😂
🍑
HAHAHA love that pun 🤣🤣🤣
Politics of envy is so sad. The objecter is probably old and can't believe two brilliant motivated youngsters have a great house and an excellent UA-cam channel. Bang on guys, ignore them❤💪👍
There's always that one idiot that just can't see others doing well for themselves.
Awh thanks Fred, fingers crossed it’s just some online follower that doesn’t actually live directly near us! 🤞🏻😅
Well done British Gas.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Another amazing video guys, shame someone decided to object your plans. You guys did amazing with your previous house. Take care as always 🚐
Thanks as always for your support Karl! 💙
I was up early today I was waiting for this to drop. Thanks guys, I now have some inspiration to get going today!
How sweet, thank you!!! We’re so glad you’re enjoying watching along 🥳
I think ivory coloured retaining walls look very modern & expensive especially against the green plants ❤
Thanks John!! 💙
@@NickyandHarri great video’s btw, keep up the good work, im hooked 👍🏼
Excellent work from you both , keep up the good work x Don't let the B.....ds grind you down
Thank you!❤️🥰
Holding thumbs for the planning permission to come through 🤞🤞🤞
One thing you overlooked(maybe, by the looks of it in the video) - Your angle beads, were they for render? or internal?(what mm thick were they?)....also, it looks like you fill the beads on your first coat, always leave the beads hollow so you fill them out on the last coat, otherwise you end up rolling the beads(where they go curved)
