Smashing Pumpkins: I’m sorry for almost going head first into your drum kit in 1991 in Iowa, it was my first time having tequila. it was an honor & a privilege to see you guys just as you were breaking out, in the old basement of our dorm, and I think the lemonheads opened? One of my most cherished 90s memories now! (Yes I know they prob won’t see this)
Awesome story😂. I was 17 at The Damned / 45 grave show at Santa Monica civic auditorium and lost my older brother eventually hung w a group of punk rockers who literally tossed me on stage and I Moshed across & jump into the crowd. Luckily I was caught but hurt my arm. Found my brother but he was drunk so I had to drive us home while he had to handle the stick shift. Oh the memories Dec 1985😊
Props to Jack Bates on bass ... Mostly happy to hang back and let the others take the spotlight, but he makes the band's sound so much ballsier! Love these guys
Nearly fell into their drum kit seeing them in my dorm basement in 1991. The label sent them on a college tour just as they were breaking out, I was inches from the band, then like a week later, they were famous nationally! It was absolutely wild & amazing and so perfectly the early 90s…
How sad for you. I'm sorry that you have terrible taste in music and that those around you during that pivotal moment in your life also had terrible taste in music. ☹️
I also graduated in 95. Always loved SP. Just seen them with my girlfriend live in Milwaukee a couple weeks ago at AMFAM field. Awesome show with Green Day !
@@MrTagoe-xw8ygit really started when he returned to the band for the Machina albums/era, through Zwan and into Zeitgeist... Then he left the band again and he's still the best, but that decade was his prime
I am a fan of early smashing pumpkins, and feel like they lost their way for while. I am pleasantly surprised by the new album although I would like to hear more of their psychedelic sound that they had in the beginning.
Saw them in Croatia in June. Really great outdoor concert in Zagreb. Hardly any interaction with the crowd except for James Iha who is cooler than Alaska. Love that guy. They sounded great though and loved the show.
ATUM was pretty good, I'm not the biggest fan but love Mellon Collie, Machina, Machina II, Adore, and keep listening to ATUM and now this new album which was a surprise release for me. Whole thing is on UA-cam on their channel (plus Spotify and every other platform).
I first noticed the snap dragon logo on those two big outer screens and thought it was a liquidy font SP for Smashing Pumpkins! 🤣 I actually thought maybe it was the new album cover! hahaha Is this what its like for a Gen X'er getting old? Am I an old fart now, so out of touch, that I confuse Snap Dragon (whatever the hell that is (SEE!) with one of my bands from back in the olden days?! GUYS! The video even opens up with the logo and name on the laptop as they are announced as a sponsor! I'm just going to hire a nurse right now and get this over with, come on golden years, whop whop whop, lets get this thing started!
Jimmy was enjoying himself on this one. I'm amazed how easy this will fit into their setlists. The lyrics are quite sad yet hopeful. Kiki adds some great harmonics. I think this is straightest I've ever heard James play lol This is a few semitones down from the recorded version? I prefer it. In fact, this adds a much needed atmosphere and ambience missing from the recent studio recordings. If BC was fresh from no touring, his vocals would've been on point SP4life
I got to see them at the suken gardens in san antonio in 2018 it was an amazing night and they were so close to the crowd it was a small venue it felt more intimate
James Iha has a weird raw but unique tone and musical stylistic. At first, you may his playing is too rough and sloppy but when you dig it you start love it, you feel it's special and different from other successful players !!
Kiki Wong just seems too animated for SP. Don't get me wrong, good player and everything, but the vibe of SP (especially live) has always been mellow and the music does all the work. It's a bit off seeing someone on stage with a bit of presence 😆 but who am I to judge, yeah?
batshit crazy seeing all those brand new bands and faces from the 90s morph into wizened patricians of rock. Its only been, what, 10 years since the 90s? *checks the calendar* oh. oh god. I'm so OLD

The bass player is Jack Bates, the son of Joy Division’s Pete Hook. Kiki and Jack both rock but they aren’t OG Pumpkins. We’re happy to have them in the Pumpkinsverse but ya gotta give the people what they want. lol
Yall wanted James back and more guitars. Yall got it

Still good! Jimmy is still the best drummer of all time (y)
James Iha is so freaking good with his lead guitar skills Damn!
This new album absolutely slays! The epic long songs are soul-punchers plus several tight singles like this.
This album has a Siamese Dream feel to it love it
@@supererikman5331no it doesn't, not even remotely
Billy Corgan and his Reverend Signature Guitar, still sounding amazing, loving the new album.

Agreed. Jack is also real cool about commenting back to you when you meantion them on social media. I hope he sticks around for the long haul.
Love that he's got this dad's stance, learned from the best

I love this new album!!!! Edin, Pentagrams & War dreams f itself are my favorites
mixed perfectly. sounds better than the album version.
Cos Billy sadly doesn't trust anyone to produce and he can't pull off what they need as a producer. Needs an outsider
Just saw them at the Saviors tour with Green Day, they sound even better live
Yeah, because they had a good A1.
Billy's singing was real good this time.
Wow gotta say they are looking and sounding great
When I first saw the Smashing Pumpkins I thought these are not only talented musicians , but truly artists! They may be better now!
SP was basically my entire 90's. Graduated hs in 95 and college in 99. I had every one of their cds and went to 6 of their concerts. Love em!!
