Fun video. There's often a point in a video where I'll automatically hit the thumbs up instead of waiting until the end. The moment you started singing you got that thumbs-up from me! Such fun and often educational videos. Thanks again!
Hah Nedrig 4 life. Love it. Spent some time in the U-P chasing smallies in the 90s and early 2000s. Lots of casting in the bays Little and Big Vay de Noc. Rocks definitely were attractive, the water has cleared a lot due to zebra mussels. Grubs and jigs casting a long way out
NedRig4Life!! When I bought my Ned Rig specific rod (based of your guidelines) I could definitely tell the difference on how it absorbed the bite and almost hooks itself. Matching your equipment can be a game changer. Pea gravel flats and rock piles hold those bigger boys. Great 4th of July weekend, beautiful water and glad you finished strong on day 4 Ethan!
Thanks Fitzy! Definitely had a blast on this trip despite the challenging fishing conditions. Next year if I go back, I will have a better idea how to approach this lake!
Really dug this 2 parter a lot, broski. It's also a great example of why I've become a fan/subscriber/supporter: that positivity and energy. You took a beating til that 4th day but your overall general demeanor brought you back like Rocky at the end of the bout haha. This entire sitch was pretty much the struggle here at Mead. The only difference is that water is a gorgeous clear blue instead of the desert clear green. Awesome to see how you explained and broke down your locations and your points of interest and what you were lookin for to find that success
Thank you so much Matty, I am glad you enjoyed it! And I can only imagine how tough Mead is. I am sure it is a tough bite / high reward situation down that way. Good luck :)
I like your videos I fish a very similar way. You should totally try the 7ft light action Shakespeare Microlite rod one day. I think you’d actually be impressed with it. Especially with it being like 16 dollars. Also it’d be pretty cool to see you use some rebel wee craws. I know they work insanely well down here in Alabama/Georgia for shoal bass.
Heck yeah! I am jealous of the fact that you catch Shoal Bass!! I appreciate the kind words and actually picked up a short microlite recently. I will do a video on it soon :)
@@FishAnything watching you have an aw some time on the water has inspired me to start making some videos. Kinda just accumulating stuff to film. Gotta learn to edit is the main thing lol.
Yo dude any tips for catching smallies that dont get too big but are decsnt sized the biggest is prob 3lbs in a crystal clear little river? It has crayfish helgramites creekchub fallfish also the crayfish get huge and some other baitfish also suckers
I’m not the master himself, but crystal clear is tough. My personal advice: small crayfish soft plastics deadsticked with long flouro leaders. (Small hint, on sunny days use tinted flouro, as it absorbs but not reflects the light, cloudy use clear flouro)
I echo Adam's comments about the small crayfish imitators. Crystal clear can be really tough but I think the light finesse game is what I would start with. If that doesn't work, you might actually try polar opposite and fish big topwaters REALLY aggressively and fast so the fish don't get a big chance to look at them. Other than that, targeting low light conditions can help cut down on visibility and make them a bit easier to catch.
@@FishAnything yeah, one day i tried throwing a size 90 black whopper plopper and i had 1 bit on it but it was a really big bite, so they will eat topwaters sometimes
Hey I asked advice from you the other day for my first ultra light rod .... I ended up with the st croix avid 6 foot ultra light .... and I’m using a pfluger 20 on it for now but planning on getting a stradic 1000 .... any experience with the rod ?
St. Croix is very popular for a reason - they seem to be high quality sticks for a generally reasonable price & offer solid warranty. I have never used the Avid but I have heard good things. As far as the Stradic 1000 goes... YES, I will be jealous!
@@FishAnything yes sir! Still waiting on my kayak. ETA is next 2-3 weeks. Then I'll get it rigged and make a trip up your way so we can crush some fish 😜
@@FishAnything I know you’re a ned rig guy. I’ve been having decent luck with the rooster tail in-line spinner in fire tiger. One evening caught 2 smallies, 1 lmb, a crappie and a bluegill. Can’t beat it.
Those Northern Michigan smallies are just a blast to catch! Inline spinners are my go to for these guys.
They are such a blast!

My gosh isn't french toast delicious? I very rarely eat it but it kicks butt lol

That sounds like a blast. I would love to get up to the UP and fish more. I have only been up there once and barely got a chance to fish.
Nice little series. I have been enjoying some of you older serialized playlist. I think you have a nice skill set with them. Please keep them coming.
Thanks Jessie! I had fun with this one & definitely plan to do more "short series/stories" in the future. Stay tuned :)
Sick series… I enjoyed it even the struggles bc all anglers been through it … thanks for sharing
Thank you Jim. I had a lot of fun with this mini-series. Glad you enjoyed it.
A workout well worth it! Water looks crazy clear! Hope your muscles recovered alright! Eat eat!!
Haha thanks David! Yeah they recovered just fine :) glad I was able to get out and cover a ton of water!

Love ya man!
Who, me? :D Tight lines Ben!
You gotta try the super drop rig. It's basically a drop shot, but instead of the drop shot weight you put on a ned rig!! It works great!!!
I have always thought about it but never got around to trying it lol
Geeeeez that water is so blue! I'm not used to seeing that, everything is brown and mud where I live.
Yeah this water is so awesome! I want to go fish it again.
Great video as always! I am a full convert to the #nedrignerd clan!!
Haha love it Greg! Glad you can get down with the Ned Rig too :) #NedRig4Life
Ned to my left , Ned to my right. Hahaha.
Glad you enjoyed my song :)

The take home point of this presentation is E Dawg's falsetto is still on.
Lol that is all I wanted people to get out of this video
All Michigan lakes and rivers are I have worst fishing time here fishing from the bank
This time of the year is challenging! Hang in there and you might consider looking for trout or panfish.
What's your Ned rig set up?
6'10 Mag Light Drop Shot Rod (G Loomis GL2 discontinued) with a Stradic 2500 and 10lb braid/7lb fluoro leader
