As a Mission Crew Commander Air Battle Manager on AWACS, this was pretty accurate, right down to JTIDS and he even pronounced it like us military folk. Jay Tids. Poland was caught with a very outdated military during WWII with horse mounted cavalry. They never want to be behind the curve again and now have quite a formidable military. Both Apache and Abram buys are beneficial for us and them.
With the horses, it's a myth, it was part of German propaganda to boost the morale of German soldiers. In fact, the Polish army was very strong for the area, while they were not mobilized, because the allies told them not to mobilize the army so as not to provoke Hitler, it was thought that the war could still be avoided
You're right, Poland was about 10 years behind Germany in terms of technology (back in those days, 10 years in aircraft development was like 25 years today; compare the biplanes of the 1920s with the aluminium monoplanes of the 1930s, it's a different era), but the story about cavalry isn't quite true. Yes, Poland and Germany both had cavalry units. They were particularly well suited to operate in the eastern parts of Poland, which had a very sparse network of metalled roads and huge swathes of marshes. In fact, cavalry could move much more freely than wheeled vehicles. But the famous story about Polish cavalry charging German tanks is a product of German propaganda. Polish cavalry did charge a unit of German infantry, and in fact the Germans panicked and were totally routed. But soon after, a German armoured unit counterattacked and naturally hit the Poles very hard. With no ATGMs in existence at the time, light infantry/cavalry was pretty much helpless against tanks. At that point, the Germans filmed the site of the battle, with dead Polish cavalrymen and German tanks, perpetuating the myth of the Poles charging against tanks. Another contribution to the myth was Andrzej Wajda's 1959 film "Lotna", which has a scene of a Polish cavalryman attacking tanks, but this is a poetic reference to the helplessness of Poland against a stronger enemy, not a realistic portrayal of the actual fighting.
Another important escalation event not mentioned, but of course very relevant aviation wise, was Ryanair Flight 4978 in 2021 between Lithuania and Greece (both EU and NATO members) and the 737 involved was registered in Poland. Whilst overflying Belarusian airspace, it was forced to diver to Minsk National Airport under false pretences (ATC claiming there was a bomb on board), despite this airport actually being further away than the intended destination, in order to abduct 2 passengers. This was a significant event in terms of additional sanctions, the banning of Belarusian airlines from flying through EU Airspace, etc.
Poland is on a BIG military material spending spree aimed at making its fairly flat terrain look much more formidable to cross given their big armored divisions, air power and increased manpower. As highly trained as its ready and reserve forces will be Poland will soon be able to stand against Russia in any conventional weapons attack. @johnn1250 Canadians have a much higher standard of living and far better and more modern infrastructure and social benefit programs than Poland. That is where large amounts of tax dollars have gone rather then into a military that rarely sees action and certainly not on its borders. Australia is the same because our threat levels have been low for decades.
I can't imagine going from an ancient Mi-2 to an Apache. Once Poland actually aquires all that they have orders for, they alone will be a match for Russia, even without the rest of NATO
Neither is survivable enough to do what's needed in that airspace. What Ukraine needs F-16s for is especially air-to-air employment of AMRAAM to atrit the Russian air force and wider employment of HARM. That said, if they can start contesting the airspace they'll need capability CAS assets to follow up on those successes so probably best to start that process now instead of waiting until afterward and giving Russia time to adapt.
In order to be able to build up functioning defense capabilities in Europe, Germany would finally have to give up its naive attitude on the subject of defense.
Apache helicopter one of the most deadliest helicopter in the world the helmet does all the work if you turn your head left or right the weapon system target follows . Proud to be an American soldier 🪖
Considering the Apache was designed for what we’re seeing in Ukraine ; it will be an unreal addition . Some say the helicopter era is over becasue of advanced weapons , BUT clearly were seeing Russia is using old weapons and vehicles , where the Apache would succeed
1:14 There is a mistake here, Apache will replace Mi-24 Hind which are in service in Poland, not Mi-2 and Mi-8, latter ones being purely transport helicopters and Hind (often and unofficially called "Ważka" /Dragonfly/ by polish crews) serving as an attack helicopter.
Besides the actual aquisition costs, all this new hardware comes with increased operaging costs and with many other costs on infrastructure, logistics and additional support systems (as communications, cryoto, networking and so on) , that add a lot to the pressure on the nationalbudgets.
If you have a neighbor like Russia, you have to invest in the army instead of schools and hospitals. Before the Second World War, Poland had hostile Germany and Russia as neighbors, and almost half of the state's expenditures were the military
Or Poland can continue to use Soviet era equipment? They need to upgrade, and the Apache is a smart purchase. Poland can buy something already in production that has a well tested SOP, spare parts, and gobs of certified mechanics and piolts to draw experience from. This will avoid the added R&D cost to producing a home brew helicopter.
Would have gone with the likely much cheaper updated Cobra. Ukraine has pointed out how "Not Survivable" helicopters are now and how cheap drones can be effective.

Poland isn’t snowed by the shenanigans of Belarus. Far from it. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what Belarus is up to. Their actions are clearly provocative and it is clear and plain they are pressing for a fight. When Poland gets all this new hardware, the actions of Belarus will change or Belarus could find out how serious Poland is about their sovereignty. This acquisition isn’t a ruse. It is a change that will cause Belarus to think twice before they pick a fight. It will also cause NATO to step up and help if needed. NATO isn’t backing down. It would be unwise to provoke any more conflictive situations. They already have enough issues on their plate.
Not enough firepower, not enough armor, not enough of them built to sell 96 just like that and not really made for the job that Poland is buying for, which is decimating advancing Russian armor and not providing support for spec ops taking St.Petersburg.
I remember just 4-5 years ago how NATO laughed at Trump for accusing them of not honoring the alliance agreement on defense spending. Fast forward a few years and they're seeing why Trump was so adamant about defense spending. I'm glad to see Poland picking up their slack, and I'm proud to call them an allied country.
I live in one such country and nobody was laughing at that. Our government took note of that and has been increasing the military spending. Actually, we in the EU hope voters in the US get enlightened and will not vote for that immature arrogant short-sighted person again. Trump adores Putin and the North Korea dictators and hates liberal democracies, such as the EU members. God bless the US.
You could've stopped at "The main benefactor is the United States." That would explain much. And as an American I would like to add that the "U.S." is British, not American. I know people will be confused by that statement, but it is an irrefutable fact. It's not Americans who want the war to expand. It's the British. It's always the Brits. Always.

Cobra is better for Naval operations, Apache much better for land battles and mountainous regions in the attack role. Poland's purchases shows how embarrassing pathetic Canada"s support is for the Canadian Armed Forces is.
you expecpting canada have a larger military then poland? the country that never threat of anything while poland is near russia?
@johnn1250 Canadians have a much higher standard of living and far better and more modern infrastructure and social benefit programs than Poland.
That is where large amounts of tax dollars have gone rather then into a military that rarely sees action and certainly not on its borders.
Australia is the same because our threat levels have been low for decades.
@@GM-fh5jp higher standard of living and far better and more modern infrastructure 🤣 yeah sure
I can't imagine going from an ancient Mi-2 to an Apache. Once Poland actually aquires all that they have orders for, they alone will be a match for Russia, even without the rest of NATO
I wonder if there have been talks to give Ukraine AH-64 and or AH-1Z Vipers?
Lukashenko is about to learn the hard way what “FAAFO” means…
Poland's not taking any chances. This time they're serious
Poland Power ❤
🇺🇸✌🏻🇵🇱
It's out, let's check it out.
Apache won't replace mi2 and mi8, but mi 24 hind
Ukraine has pointed out how "Not Survivable" helicopters are now and how cheap drones can be effective.
you forgot polish corruption and ameritard imperialism
Russian 🇷🇺😎?@@riskinhos
Thanks
Awesome content!
Poland is now the Texas of Europe 😂😂😂😂
What is the average life span of a tank in battle? Slightly higher than a flying pinata
Great video ! Thanks . Please keep up your good work.
Thank you and will do!
the Apache is one of the best attack choppers to date.
New to the channel - subscribed, I like it!
I'm still waiting on you making a video doing a review of the aircraft in Arma 3 and comparing them to their real life counterparts lol
That would actually be a good livestream topic for an upcoming Sunday show - thanks for commenting
Anything to help
This speed bump now has teeth
Pavehawks/Blackhawks, Spectre and they are set to rock and roll anytime.
Can anyone blame Poland for taking the correct action of strengthening its armed forces, rf needs to realise it’s not going anywhere further.
We must all aid the defeat of rf inside Ukraine ✌️🇬🇧🇵🇱🇺🇦🇺🇸
May God Three in One protect as well as bless Poland and her amazing people.
thanke you and may God bless and protect your country and your people too 😊
Now that is how you defend a border. The US should take notes and apply these techniques to the Southern Border.

Um ..... doesn't it require 3000man hours maintenance per mission/sortie 🤔🤔🤔
Will the Apache survive manpads?
as a Pole ...i see them babies flying around every single day near my house. always flying in 3!!!
Belarus has enough on their plate!
"This speed bump has teeth"
Kristina king book and album out now
Why can't they buy the AH1Z Viper??
Not enough firepower, not enough armor, not enough of them built to sell 96 just like that and not really made for the job that Poland is buying for, which is decimating advancing Russian armor and not providing support for spec ops taking St.Petersburg.
yes
Poland...not a Push-over, People!!!
Greetings from Brazil
With those beautiful new Gripen E fighters !
Greetings from Texas!
Poland was one of the only NATO countries at the time Trump said that that was spending that minimum from their budget at that time too
Poland is the ONLY real ally US has in Europe.
Only Poland was never slacking and was one of few countries that spend over 2% every year even before the war

You could've stopped at "The main benefactor is the United States." That would explain much. And as an American I would like to add that the "U.S." is British, not American. I know people will be confused by that statement, but it is an irrefutable fact. It's not Americans who want the war to expand. It's the British. It's always the Brits. Always.
And here on UK were well
America needs a wall on our border
How does that stop most drugs that come through ports of entry?
And 96 Apache helicopters guarding it.

Polish Apaches 10x overkill at the minimum vs belarus helicopters ....now its your move lukashenko and belarus😆😆
with best of the world Polish pilots east zone of Nato will be allways safe
Wow nice jet disane
Hopefully the polish military will give Ukrain the old Russian helicopters and ammunition.
We have already donated far too much
Now it’s time to be pragmatic
Support-yes but sell not give away
Sorry but You have bad informations...We dont use Mi2 etc. We have many modern helicopters like Sokol, Blackhawk etc...
yes we use
Apache replacing the Mi-2 and Mi-8/17? Do you even know what you're talking about? lol How can an attack helicopter replace a transport helicopter? Like come on now... The Apache will replace the Mi-24!
the way poland going with this weapons purchase they would be the second strongest nation in nato and the third strongest military in world behind u.s and china..please dont say russia cause russia military a joke, the russia good at tough talking and overhyping there weapons.
This is what the USA should do with Mexican border - would make illegals think twice and or eliminate.
1:08 In Poland, Apache is to replace Mi-24, The Mi-8 and Mi-17 were supposed to be replaced by H255M Caracal but pro retarded minister of defense canceled the agreement. Now they are supposed to be replaced by AW101 which will be very expensive. Unfortunately, CH-47 was never took for consideration
Excellent point and thanks for commenting!
What Poland spent on the apache helicopters, they could have built super cobras that are simpler and will stay in the fight much longer.
Cobra is better for Naval operations, Apache much better for land battles and mountainous regions in the attack role. Keep in mind the Apache was specifically built for a European battlefield, that was its original role. It also has the benefit of having better information technology leading to a better interconnected battlefield. Poland is incredibly smart with these acquisitions, the napkin math does not do it justice.
Drones are more effective when it comes to protecting your borders #PilotPhotog
***Defending the Homeland: Poland's Apache vs Belarus | What We Know So Far** we know that Belarus helicopters flying over Poland and Apache is on the lunch break. ;)
