I feel proud of my country that helped John Prine find a home away from home in Ireland. We were honoured to have him. Legend yet the most humble and grounded. R.I.P. and thank you John.

Great sentiment! He LOVED Ireland...WHO WOULDN"T?! And, this performance has Lucius with Roger...they toured that year and showed up again at Neil Young's annual Bridge Benefit...magnificent. So grateful for all John Prine's work to bring us so much work...what a wordsmith (like the IRISH!).

Love JP, but I'm a bit confused by this comment. JP was born in Maywood, Illinois and whilst married to Fiona (and perhaps before it, I'm not judging), he had a connection to Ireland, but I'm a bit confused about this notion about him "finding a home away from Ireland". It seems disingenuous, that's all.
Anyway, RIP and thank you John.

@@g33fer94 He had a home in Kinvara, Co. Galway. The locals loved him and he used to bring his guitar to the pub and play.

well said I know he did mine. And that's not an easy task. He and his music was and always will be the only one capable of doing that with music and lyrics. My 7 year old son does it every morning when he wakes and yells Daddy so I will come and greet him and start our day together. And that feeling I get from my child every day is the feeling I get when I listen to J.P.'s music. I lost a lot of friends to the heroine and It's hard for me to listen to Sam Stone without having to hold back the tears. He and his music is a American Treasure....peace!

@SuperbeNain I think you are right. I rather suspect that Roger Waters is a big John Prine fan and didn't want to be seen overwhelming this performance (I have to put headphones on to properly hear Roger's voice which is definitely not a problem with any of his Pink Floyd or solo performances !). John Prine has a big following among UK songwriters. Elvis Costello is another along with playwright Alan Bleasdale.

    My favorite Prine live, moment...
    It was a Friday...
I rode one of the bikes to work...
(I’d heard the Roger Waters/My Morning Jacket rumors)...
    Left Quincy, MA early...
    Rode waaay too fast...
Hit the Rhode Island border, pulled over, and took off my helmet (just like i always do)...
    Yeah!!...
Flying solo definitely can have huge benefits... like being able to get right up front for moments like this one.
    Thank you, John.
Hope your smokin’ a cigarette that’s nine miles long.

I can't believe I didn't discover John Prine until about a year ago. I discovered him searching Kacey Musgraves on UA-cam. They're the two of them or on a little stage that look like a High School auditorium. I was like who the hell is that little man up there such a quirky guy oh, funny guy. Then I listen to the song She Sang called I smoked a joint with John Prine. So I immediately had to look him up. I can explain what happened next but I watched his videos for 5 hours in a row after that and cried the whole time. Like I said I cannot explain this.

Sadly, the year 2020 will litter the footnotes of future history books, marking the passing of great artists, musicians, scientists, philosophers, and writers, while not recording the millions of ordinary folk who were brothers, sisters, friends, etc,

You're in good company up in heaven with all the legendary musicians who have passed away in the past few weeks from this COVID-19.
SNL's Hal Willner a musical director taken too.
I keep thinking that all these musicians who were all legends here on Earth are all going to start playing in a Big Band with Hal directing you all.
Imagining this Pearly Gates gig gives me peace of mind somehow.
Well that's the only way I can make any sense of this damn virus preying on so many folk's.
Not just legends or several artists and musicians but regular working folk's and Doctors and Nurses too.
Of course a legendary band is needed cause there is going to be a huge guest list thanks to this damn virus.

I've been saying that for years, people don't believe me. It's a hell of a connection and it's an obvious one at that.

You can hear a lot of Sam Stone in the opening to "The Post War Dream"

Well, I’ve been steadily listening to John for 50 years and never thought of that connection. Will be fun to listen to the Wall with that in mind.

What an incredible collaboration! It would have been nicer if Roger's mic had been a wee bit cleaner.

I think that's his voice that is so quiet. If you listen to Roger doing his version of Paradise, he uses the same soft voice.
