Why is your mic pointing at your desk instead of your mouth...?

The Blue Yeti mic you see on camera is merely a prop. I have an overhead mic that is connected directly into my camera body.
      Thanks for the question!

My very first DSLR was a Canon Rebel SL3 that came with a variable aperture kit lens and a 55-250 mm telephoto zoom. Was grateful to have a couple to start with, but after getting better lenses, I essentially never touch the kit lens. 18-55 mm f4-f5.6 replaced by 17-55 f2.8 constant aperture. It's decidedly larger, but the image quality is MUCH better over the entire range.
When I bought my first mirrorless, I did as you did: skip the kit, go body only with better lenses. Definitely the way to go. The lens is more important than the camera when it comes to high quality images. Though ultimately, the most important piece of equipment is the photographer's mind!

      Well said.
Thanks for the comment! What sort of photography do you do?

Variable aperture lenses not worth buying - what about the EF 100-400mm f/4.5=5.6, or the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1?

I owned the 100 to 400. It was a nice into lens. But I traded it in for the 70 to 200 f2.8. The 100 to 500 would be ok. But I don't do that sort if photography. I really like the 100 to 300 though.

@@TMVVisualMedia Both the 100-400 and 100-500 are great lenses, I'm more interested in your comment that variable lenses are not worth buying, which both of these lenses of course are.

@@NickHansonPhotography oh ok. I should have been more specific. Its my opinion that variable kit lenses are absolutely not worth it. And the opinion is directed more toward the brands that pair them with cameras. I think a brand should offer budget primes as a kit vs a variable aperture kit lens.
The new consumer may not be experienced enough to know why a nifty fifty or a nice 1.8 35mm would be better than a 15-45 variable aperture kit lens.

    Hi,
    R8 or lumix 5m2?

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the question!
I hear some really good things about the Lumix. But I would still pick Canon.
For the price the Canon R8 is very competitive.
It will depend more on your use case.

Thank you for the video and the invitation to ask a question about this camera. I would like to use a manual focus lens e.g. the 2X life-size magnification 90 mm macro lens from Laowa . Does the moderate resolution EVF , perhaps combined with the magnifying focus aid that I guess the R8 has available, facilitate critically accurate manual focusing ?
    Cheers.

      Fantastic question!
From what I have researched. The R8 camera and the R7 have communication errors with non RF glass. I am uncertain how or of you will get your desired outcome.
Do you have a local shop near you?
I'm not familiar with the specific lens youre mentioning. What sort of photography do you do?

Shop not close at all. But I have a trip booked a trip to a city with a good camera store in October. I could try it then. Thank you. My favourite subjects are plants and landscape, including bush/forest scenes. I would also be interested in taking photos of artistic objects at rest. Another manual focus lens that interests me is the TT Artisan 50mm F1.4 . Like the Laowa lens I mentioned, it is, I believe, available in the RF mount. As you say, though, I think they probably do not have electronic communication with the camera body.
      Cheers.@@TMVVisualMedia

Interesting. I knew the battery does not have the longest life. I bought 3 extra batteries and a dummy battery for mine.
