    Wow, two hardware guys, Ben Heck and Patrick Norton, legendary episode. You guys should do another one, and get really into some weird hardware projects together.

    Agree. Try to team up again with Ben. Have been subbed to him for a long time. Good video

    Very cool. I love DIYTryin and Ben heck. The best of both worlds in a short concise video. You guys should work together more often.

    There are concave tips that work REALLY well for this if you don't have a reflow station. I prefer to reflow but in a pinch I will use a normal conical tip on my iron but I prefer the concave tips.

    Awesome! I love to see my subscribed channels appearing in each other's videos. Like when Vsauce, minute physics, veritasium and smarter everyday show up on each other's channels. Too bad Ben won't be on rev 3 anymore.

      I think it will be a good thing for him, as he will have more freedom over his show.

    Ben, what kind of solder did you use to desolder the chip? Was it some kind of low melting point solder?

    This episode made me nostalgic for Systm.
    Desoldering braid is like the third member of a holy trinity with duct tape and WD40. Not to be confused with the 5lb hammer, come-along, and pry bar trio.

      I'm guessing they filmed this a while back, before all of that changed.

      come to think about it i think thay said it prevented solder from getting in between the feet.

    That was a fair introduction, but lets not encourage the masses to resolder their stuff. what you need is a different tip and you can do it in one pass with not mess and without any solder wick after

    • @ekner
      @ekner 10 років тому

      What kind of tip would that be?

      When i learned surface mount soldering we used chisel tips, it seemed to make it easier.
