Thank you! This was my exact issue. No matter how big battery I tried. It didn't work. Even large car battery directly to starter. But after I cleaned the Bendix and lubed it up, it's working great again! Thanks alot
Bro... Ur the man!! I was in the process in ordering a whole new crankshaft assembly, because i couldnt figure out the issue. I have the same bike and issue lol!
As I wrote an updated description under the video, my main problem turned out to be the lithium battery, that I killed by using a regular battery charger over the winter. My bendix was also a little faulty, as it was dirty and didn't retract freely, if I remember correctly. Is your scooter cranking? Does bendix turn the engine over? Is starter getting enough power? If bendix is not retracting freely, try cleaning it or replace it. It's not an expensive part. But first make sure you have enough power going to starter and your starter is healthy/
@@bikesandoutdoors3616 thanks I appreciate your response and help. Yes I did not check the starter. But what are the symptoms I should look for if the starter is the problem, I think it turns over at one point and starts...but when I turn it off and try again just whirring. I looked closer and saw that the hole that it was in was out of shape. so I was wondering if that was the issue.
@@stauf09 To rule out the battery and starter, hook up an extra booster to your battery, nd try to replicate the issue. Knowing that the battery provides consistent power to start the engine, and the issue repeats, then yes, your bendix hole could be at fault. If I remember correctly, the bendix should not be sitting in just cast aluminum hole of the engine cover, but there should be a spacer that is in the hole and that spacer will make the bendix shaft to sit snugly in the hole. Make sure you have that spacer or if it's deformed, replace it.
i got a 2016 kymco vitality 50cc 4 stroke and it was doing this exact same thing. leaned it left and it would gear jump then catch. i just twisted the bendix to catch position and sprayed carb cleaner in it. put the cover and gasket back on and fine now. definitely gonna change it but it seems like these gy6 motors need a cleaning about every 500 miles.
Can you let me know why my kick start doesn't work. Every time I try to kick start it, it sounds like I'm about to brake something inside of it. But I can use the electric start and it fires up well.
Kick start is a weak point on these. It will need attention. On my new scooter (170cc) I'm having issues as well. Compression is so high I need to jump on that lever. Tomorrow we have 14F (-10C), and I will have to jump on that thing a lot with quick start spray in hand...
When I got my kymco 50cc and I took off the CVT cover there was a washer that fell out. It was for the starter. Did you put that back? It needs to be there so the starter doesn't rub against the wall of the cover. That could have been what happened to your grease/lubricant.
I updated my description for the video. The real reason was a dead Li-Ion battery that I had in the scooter. I charged it with a regular charger, and after few cycles it would not hold charge for long. Also, they are really poor performers in freezing weather. Changing up the battery to regular one solved the problem. And I saved the Li-Ion battery by getting a proper charger for it and charging it properly. They do a good job in warm weather conditions. When I shot the video I was sure it was bendix. It was not, so I updated in description.
There is a bushing behind that bending. IT has to be in there and not damaged or it will not allow the bending to work and has to be bushing with no damage. Very important
my scooter is doing the same thing. it has new battery, bendix, starter, and it slow cranks. can i misaligned bendix cause a slow crank? the bendix sits inside the crank case. there looks to be some kind of a bushing in there that’s damaged. could that be it?
Hello brother, I have a 2012 TVS Wego. I observed similar issue on my scooter. I did replace the Original starter Relay, New original Starter motor and new battery. But still starter is jammed... If i try 2-3 times the starter runs jamed slow and the scooter starts up. Please suggest me solution. Following the cleaning process the way you did will help? What is a "Variator"?
Bro I went the whole 9 yards I replaced the piston head, got a new valve head set and new ignition coil and cdi and still nothing, time to get a new battery ig wish me luck
I used some dry lube, but that's not the point. The real reason was that my battery was damaged from improper charging . Bendix had nothing to do with it. Use any lube that will not fly off into your belt and cause it to slip.

Does all screws on the cover have an effect on the bike to start, (I replaced bendix, belt, battery)
If it's rotating and spinning the engine, it should start. If it's not doing that, then there is a different issue.
Hello friend 👍. I remember those days & trouble with the bendix / starters lol. 🛵🎬🔧🫡
Yes, especially taking it all apart for the first time :))))
Me to mine of only 809 miles is making a grinding sound and can’t drive it 2miles it cuts off at 30mph and goes normally 55
Time to open it up and with the help of UA-cam fix it! :)
Thank you. Is it possible to wear out the pulley gear teeth? I replaced the bendix and the problem persists. Or else I bought a bendix with a problem.
I opened my case but font have a bendix there. Is it behind my flywheel? Gy6 150cc taotao
