Scooter Variator and Rollers Check After 6000 Miles. Teyin Falcon 200
I previously checked the variator at 3000 miles. Then the belt looked like new and rollers had 50% life in them. Now at 6000 miles checking again.

      I have since replaced the muffler to a completely different one, a much lighter with universal bolting options. No more issues, although a bit louder.

    How do I fix the Bendix hole where I put my Bendix in it's a little deformed a little worn. Would that be a problem for still not starting .

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616
      @bikesandoutdoors3616 8 місяців тому

      As I wrote an updated description under the video, my main problem turned out to be the lithium battery, that I killed by using a regular battery charger over the winter. My bendix was also a little faulty, as it was dirty and didn't retract freely, if I remember correctly. Is your scooter cranking? Does bendix turn the engine over? Is starter getting enough power? If bendix is not retracting freely, try cleaning it or replace it. It's not an expensive part. But first make sure you have enough power going to starter and your starter is healthy/

    • @stauf09
      @stauf09 8 місяців тому

      @@bikesandoutdoors3616 thanks I appreciate your response and help. Yes I did not check the starter. But what are the symptoms I should look for if the starter is the problem, I think it turns over at one point and starts...but when I turn it off and try again just whirring. I looked closer and saw that the hole that it was in was out of shape. so I was wondering if that was the issue.

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616
      @bikesandoutdoors3616 8 місяців тому

      @@stauf09 To rule out the battery and starter, hook up an extra booster to your battery, nd try to replicate the issue. Knowing that the battery provides consistent power to start the engine, and the issue repeats, then yes, your bendix hole could be at fault. If I remember correctly, the bendix should not be sitting in just cast aluminum hole of the engine cover, but there should be a spacer that is in the hole and that spacer will make the bendix shaft to sit snugly in the hole. Make sure you have that spacer or if it's deformed, replace it.

    Not a 150 big bore. The 168cc is called a "K" block motor. It's different than the QMJ engines and if you look on the block it says QMK. This engine is used in some 200cc (actually still 168) ATV's and it has bigger bits and bearings. I spoke to an industry rep who confirmed it.

    Does this scooter require a license, an M license, and insurance?

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616
      @bikesandoutdoors3616 11 місяців тому

      In NY State any motorcycle rated by factory to speeds over 29MPH requires a motorcycle license. Most Chinese scooters with 50cc engines are rated below that and you can ride them with regular drivers license. In both cases you will need an insurance policy. You can find a police around $100 per year for liability, or for around $200 for full collision, including road side assistance. My bike is 168cc and rated to go 55mph by factory. So yes, will need that M license with that.

    Re the problem in getting the oil pump off - did you have the right screwdriver? The screws on these Japanese bikes use a special profile of screwdriver called JIS - Japanese Industrial Standard. If you have JIS drivers they fit the screws properly and don't slip - especially when an impact driver is used. Good info on adapting the rubber boot. What a pain of a job Honda made of this. Sliding it off looks far better if it actually works. I could hardly believe (just like you) that the after market pump came with a filthy oil scree in it. It doesn't suggest the whole pump will be any good, and it is such a vital part of the engine. If that pump fails - the motor is toast.

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616
      @bikesandoutdoors3616 Рік тому

      I probably had the wrongest screwdriver for that, something most of us have for everyday use. Also, an impact with the correct (JIS) tip would do the trick. Good point! Thank you for that info:)

    Somewhere in the back of my mind, I'm thinking that I saw another video where the guy replaced the stock muffler with a new lighter weight muffler I think from Amazon. Is that stock muffler real heavy? Maybe a lighter weight muffler wouldn't be breaking that bracket. I'm really impressed with that seat and the stitching. It really makes the whole scooter look high class. I wish a mandatory requirement for posting a scooter on UA-cam would be to find the steepest hill in the city and show how well the scooter runs up that hill. I've got a couple hills here in Central New York that make me wonder if a scooter could climb up them fast enough to not slow down all the cars behind me.

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616
      @bikesandoutdoors3616 Рік тому

      I agree. Definitely too heavy for the thickness of the mounting plate. At high speeds (50=) going through a bump did it's job. Yes, I have a stock muffler still, but I reinforced the plate and bracket.

    I've been trying hard to narrow down which scooter to buy. I like the Tank but it has no foot room. My next choice is the Vitacci Force. I see on your Falcon that you can have your feet flat or up on the sides - that's what I'm looking for. Thanks for posting the video to let us prospective buyers see these things. My next worry is Vitacci a better brand and construction than the Dong Fang type scooters? That oil capacity does worry me since the engine is air cooled it must also rely on the oil to cool it too. Same oil capacity on the 150 as on the 50 doesn't make sense. I see you bought from Red Fox. That encourages me there, too. By the way, I'm over in Syracuse, NY. It would be nice if there were some scooter clubs around like there are for the GROM riders.

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616
      @bikesandoutdoors3616 Рік тому

      I never had a fuel injector bike. When buying the last scooter, I tried to avoid fuel injection only because I am not familiar with the quality of them on Chinese bikes. I know that on carbureted Chinese bikes the first thing I replace is the carburetor. Which I did on mine. They are cheap, I know how to tune and change the jets. It worked for me for 5 summers and winters and that’s the only reason I’m ok with it. Injector may be a lot better, especially in big temperature drops, but I’m not ready to enter the unknown on this yet 😊

    I work for a school bus company and change oil on buses a ton. Best thing to do is take a long alignment bar and grind it down to a sharp point and punch a hole in the bottom of the filter and just let it drain out before you take it off. Takes longer but is better than filling your arm pit with diesel oil.

    • @bikesandoutdoors3616

      Thank you for that tip! That makes a lot of sense actually, as the filter walls are so thin. I just did the fuel filter and fuel/water separator change, and since the bus had been sitting for 2 years before I bought it, they had already started to rust, so pretty hard to remove. My strap wrench put a decent dent on a spin on fuel filter :).
