Love the older stuff. This song brings me back to age 15 again in a dark room just vege'ing out. I used to improvise the song on bass back then. I think you did a great job at figuring it out.
Great cover. This & Prodigal Son showed Steve's talent off in terms of understanding his instrument in the early years more so than the heavy hitting galloping stuff. All equally impressive but I love the greater diversity of Maiden's beginnings!
Hey Welsh man! Is any of that improvised? I noticed the choppy part at 3:17 was that intentional or a flub? Asking cause I am learning the whole song using your video.
@@welshphantom8964 That's ok I was listening to the song in the dark and I heard it. Yours is the best one up beating out Jeff Monaco's cover because you got that part right while he missed it completely. I thin it's less choppy tho. I just put mine up. ua-cam.com/video/d2P9IIjIWq8/v-deo.html
It is a sweet bass line and thanks for the info. And whoever you are as you are the only one who thumbed down this cover. I will think that you hit the wrong button and your error is easily forgiven... Cheers!!!
Hi Nicole, just saw your message in my inbox, but not on here (?). Anyway, glad you learnt this, it is nice to play. All good here and finally able to play bass again .... at last. Working on getting my speed back, so new vids soon fingers crossed :) I hope all is good with you to :)
I have no idea. Same thing on G+. Glad all is back to normal with you. Yes, it's a nice one to play for sure. I read a lot about this song. Paul Mario the first lead signer for Iron Maiden sang and said to have written this song. I am sure it had something to do with not playing it and the fact that this is also a song that you are not used to listen from Iron Maiden. Different style! But still a great song... I will upload it when am done with it.. Nice first cover for me. :-) Did you see my pic? :-)
They actually played this on the Killers World tour in 1981 (and obviously on the tours before that in 1980). Did you mean that Dance of Death pic by the way? It is cool as Hell whether you did or not! I have never got into the G+ thing, maybe I will start sometime :)
Yes, they did play it when Paul was there before Bruce. After Paul left, no more playing this song. It had something to do with credit and Iron Maiden is notoriously famous for it. They did not want to have to pay the money due to Paul if it reached up high which it did regardless and Iron Maiden still has not done the right thing and credit him for it and give him any revenue due to him. They are sitting on millions of dollars but still not enough to do the right thing. Common in the music industries. Yes, it's me and my bass on the picture. It took me 8 days to complete.. A lot of work for this picture. Everything is created by me. The scars, fire, everything. :-) Glad you liked it!!! :-)
Steve's lines are very beautiful on this one. Maybe one of my favorite bass lines ever. You simply nailed it.
Thank you mate :)
Thanks awesome cover.
I think maiden is one of the rare bands who knew how to use the bass and give it a tone that you cant find any where else

Sorry for the delayed response! Yeah at 3.17 I was meant to play 4, hammer to 5, slide to 7 (on the D) but was not very smooth! Well spotted lol

Yes mate. All of Steve Harris' bass lines are standard tuning EADG. Thanks for watching :)

Dianno era maiden was musically much more interesting, complex and varied.

Thanks for watching :)
that was the real maiden a band of the streets a band who sold his soul and authenticity sound for making money
