0:45 the subtle assertion of dominance here with the “I only got 7 seconds short of somebody who unfairly manipulated RNG for a massive advantage” context is glorious.
Reminds me of the time he and PointCrow raced in BOTW and PointCrow (jokingly) asserted he was only letting Ant take the first game to give him a head start, to which Ant replied by saying "I guess that's fair, you do have 1000 hours more in this game than me." While he's winning lol
It's so amazing that the mod community was able to actually find this relatively small discrepancy (which makes a lot of difference) using probability and statistics. It's a shame they had to go through all the shit they went through for doing their job properly.
It's annoying that Dream stans blindly defended him regardless of Dream said. The MC Speedrunning mod team were out there doing actual research and difficult math solving into the whole situation, and then there were people who blindly disregarded the research and stood by their first opinion. But sadly, this is the internet and that's how 90% of opinions are formed. Even when Dream posted his video with his own failed math and probilities, chances were still against him at 1 in a million. It's surprising how many people thought that the run still being legitimate was plausible.
It's more complicated than that, actually. Because each hit gives 2-4 pearls, more hits mean you're more likely to get the average drop (3) So it's not just that you get 3x the number of pearls, it also means you're much less likely to get not enough pearls.
It's a bit more complicated indeed. Let's say you performed 10 trades on 5% chance. Your chances of getting pearls in 5 out of 10 would be 252*0.05^5*0.95^5 ~= 0.00006 or 0.006 percent. Now let's say you have 15% chance, then getting pearls 5 times out of 10 will have a probability of 252*0.15^5*0.85^5 ~= 0.0085 or 0.85%, which is about 139 times bigger. Probabilities are funny sometimes.
Weird how it took Dream half a year for him to realize he "accidentally" was using the very same mod cheats that people accused him of using. Sure wish he didn't delete the folder "in frustration" so we could've just verify shit instantly.
Sad thing is: I personally think it is possible to forget a mod in the folder while recording - but not after people start pointing out the weird drop rates to him. All the people that continuesly argue for this basically call Dream a goldfish-brained idiot while trying to defend his obvious lies. (Which is kind of sad and funny at the same time, not gonna lie) If this really would have been an accident, he'd have noticed once the accusations started and would have instantly apologized.
you're overestimating him, do you really expect someone to remember a folder he had already forgotten about by time he did the speedruns, them getting watched and the controversy building up by the mere mention of the odds? people have plenty of shit on their minds at any given time, a reference to something isnt necessarily gonna evoke the memory of it suddenly, at least from experience that has not been the case
@@theo_comics814 To get best of best run requires tens of thousand hours of grind no matter the game. By modifying odds you can get that time by only investing a fraction of that time.
@@theo_comics814 There's an argument that crops up in the context of defending cheating accusations that goes something like, "Why would (this person) cheat, they're so good at the game! Why would they risk so much?" But we see time and time again that the motivation often comes from the player getting frustrated by RNG or other mechanics, and because they have the technical skill to perform all the tricks and such, they start feeling that they "deserve" the time they're going for, and they cheat to shorten the grind and get the time they "deserve".

Even though the “Dream Luck” mod does do a lot to increase your time, this seed on its own was absolutely crazy. But the mod definitely shaved a few minutes off, which in such a short speedrun is insane.
Bad luck on the enderpearls or blazerods could've killed it (Or at least slowed it down enough to negate the saved time), though it does look like a REALLY good seed in terms of everything's locations.
@@icycloud6823 The mod only increases the drop rate from 5% to 15%, so a 3x increase. He said he had over 70 after the trades. Honestly, his run would have only been about a min or two shorter withe the mod turned off, probably around 15 min or so, as the only Mod related RNG he got that REALLY mattered was the Blazerod RNG, as he almost definitely would have gotten enough pearls from the piglins without the mod with this seed. "any apology that says “accidentally” to make it seem better isn’t a genuine apology" It's obviously possible to do something on accident so it's irrational to act like doing something on accident is the same as doing it on purpose which is what you are implying when you say he shouldn't bring up that it was an accident in an apology. Dream is a dipshit but if he had genuinely done this by accident and when someone pointed out that it was basically impossible responsed with something along the lines of "oh yeah I was cheating by accident, let me remove my run" or whatever, it would have been fine. His reaction to being called out made it clear that he cheated on purpose but even if it actually was an accident somehow his reaction is what makes him a douchebag not the accidental cheating.

As someone outside of the Minecraft community who mostly gets his updates on speedrun community drama from Karl Jobst, I bothered to read Dream's entire text. So as someone who's neutral to it, it gives me the impression of a dude who let his ego and emotions get the better of him and burnt bridges and trust in the process. Which I can relate to on a human level because afaik Dream got incredibly popular within a short span of time and that can screw with everyone's mindset. Part of human psychology, really. And I also say he should stay away from speedrunning any game for at least a year because time needs to pass now to cool everybody down, and after that there will still be reasonable doubt cast on him if he tries to speedrun again and I can't blame the speedrun mods for having doubt in the future. I think it’s possible that this was an accident (As it’s the mods he uses for manhunts), it’s also very possible this was deliberate. And even if it was a mistake, the second someone said the chances it seemed to have, he should have realized “Oh, what are the odds that’s the exact chances I use for my man hunts, maybe I left that on” rather then arguing for months
@@sludgy5134 yeah and it's mainly that last part why I think he deliberately cheated. If he had apologized at the start and admitted he was using the mod by "accident" I think there's enough plausible deniability there to just move on from the issue but now it's pretty clear he had malicious intent.
@@sludgy5134 he probably didn’t even think about that for a while because he was probably angry for a long ass time. probably really caught up in the, “the dudes are really tryna fucking clout chase me, what the fuck” and he spent a while trying to defend himself because he thought someone was out to mess with him. I assume when he calmed down he actually realized and was like “oops, well I was mad for no reason” but that’s a good faith interpretation. good faith and bad faith both make sense, it’s kinda just down to how YOU feel and if you wanna believe it. I’ve had a few times in my life to where I lost something and blamed everyone because I was pissed and then a few days later when I got over it, I just found it in my room. So idk 🤷🏾♂️
I dont think he's necessarily afraid. He just doesn't want to talk about the drama. Like he said in the video. If he wanted to state that Dream is still lying (which let's be honest is most definitely the case) he'd need to back that position up. But he doesn't want to, so he just let's it slide for the purposes of the intro.
@@onecommunistboi It's pretty certainly the case, we all know that; but we can't strictly speaking prove it, so Ant stuck to being neutral here since that's not what the video is about.
This is the earliest I've ever seen him upload a video from a stream. According to his his streaming schedule this was streamed just yesterday. You good ant?
SmallAnt did his Pokémon pacifist speedrun, edited footage, wrote a script, did the voice over and uploaded before PointCrow was able to just edit and upload his run. The man is beyond questioning with his upload speed at this point.
@@albericponcedeleon2696 I'm pretty sure this dude has mental notes of all his play through, but he has to do it at the moment or else he will forget all of it
The video proves how Dream's luck modifications made it much easier. Without trades or drops being an issue, all that's needed is for a decent seed and decent rng with mobs, such as the ghast fly pattern and the end fight. Here's an analogy: Instead of needing to roll a yahtzee with 6's, flip 4 coins that all land heads, run a 5 minute mile, and find a four leaf clover, he instead needed to roll 2 6s with 5 dice, flip 4 coins and get 2 heads, and run a 6 minute mile. The required skill is lower because drops happen faster, and drops happen more often so more runs are continued.
If u wanna take out the luck element it wouldnt fit in that category. You could also just play seeded runs. "But reading the seed is also a skill" - Yeah but reading your chances of having luck in that seed is also some kind of "skill" i guess. So just breaking a few drop chances do actually effect the flow of the game and your choices by a lot.
Not necessarily. The strategies have evolved a lot since Dream's run, such that this kind of luck isn't really even necessary anymore. So if Dream did this new run with the same cheats, he'd undoubtedly get a faster time than he did in the original run anyway. He could probably even beat it without them, as I'm sure despite his cheating he's decent enough at the game.

@@aryst0krat which is what makes it so tragic; if he took the time to learn bastion routes, he’d effectively have the pearl part of the luck enhancement. If he just decided to wait and learn the game a bit more (or even better, figure out new strats himself), he would have been much less frustrated. Alas, the guy has insufficient patience.
I like the idea of having a category where there is almost zero luck involved and it’s purely up to player skill. What if they made a subcategory of Set Seed that uses Dream Luck?
@@trigger7ff6 Yeah but sometimes these small diffrences and rules lead to completely different experiences from the runs. I guess you would mod it so all mobs have static drops that lead them to dropping at least 1 of everthing they could possibly drop from there loot table.
The problem is that seeds are random, so everyone would have to use the same seed all the time, which would change it from "good at Minecraft" to "good at this seed". So, yeah. Good idea, sadly doesn't work.

Yea bruh thats why Im a fan
Dream got a 19:25 with the mod. Ant got a 19:32 without the mod, and a 13:31 with the mod. All I see is that Ant is a faster speedrunner.
This is why ant is the best speedrunner
You know what? Imma go ahead and say it. I think Ant could beat Dream in a manhunt.
It's so amazing that the mod community was able to actually find this relatively small discrepancy (which makes a lot of difference) using probability and statistics. It's a shame they had to go through all the shit they went through for doing their job properly.
Because of stupid people who groupthink and can't imagine that their precious little personality could possibly cheat. :)

Because each hit gives 2-4 pearls, more hits mean you're more likely to get the average drop (3)

@@louisvaught2495 no stupid
It's a bit more complicated indeed. Let's say you performed 10 trades on 5% chance. Your chances of getting pearls in 5 out of 10 would be 252*0.05^5*0.95^5 ~= 0.00006 or 0.006 percent. Now let's say you have 15% chance, then getting pearls 5 times out of 10 will have a probability of 252*0.15^5*0.85^5 ~= 0.0085 or 0.85%, which is about 139 times bigger. It's obviously possible to do something on accident so it's irrational to act like doing something on accident is the same as doing it on purpose which is what you are implying when you say he shouldn't bring up that it was an accident in an apology.

If he had apologized at the start and admitted he was using the mod by "accident" I think there's enough plausible deniability there to just move on from the issue but now it's pretty clear he had malicious intent.
I would have accepted the excuse if he did it after he got accused of cheating. But after months of fighting? No way
@@sludgy5134 he probably didn’t even think about that for a while because he was probably angry for a long ass time. probably really caught up in the, “the dudes are really tryna fucking clout chase me, what the fuck” and he spent a while trying to defend himself because he thought someone was out to mess with him. I assume when he calmed down he actually realized and was like “oops, well I was mad for no reason”
but that’s a good faith interpretation. good faith and bad faith both make sense, it’s kinda just down to how YOU feel and if you wanna believe it. I’ve had a few times in my life to where I lost something and blamed everyone because I was pissed and then a few days later when I got over it, I just found it in my room. So idk 🤷🏾♂️
Gotta love how Ant said “accidentally” because he is afraid of what Dream stans will do if he says Dream intentionally cheated (which is the truth.)
I dont think he's necessarily afraid. He just doesn't want to talk about the drama. Like he said in the video. If he wanted to state that Dream is still lying (which let's be honest is most definitely the case) he'd need to back that position up. But he doesn't want to, so he just let's it slide for the purposes of the intro.
it’s called doing the smart thing and being neutral.
@@onecommunistboi It's pretty certainly the case, we all know that; but we can't strictly speaking prove it, so Ant stuck to being neutral here since that's not what the video is about.
Oh no they'll click on the video and give him views. The horror!!!
I thought he just said it sarcastically
That’s the most debatable “accidentally” I’ve ever heard
That is probably because it is not debatable, it is basucally known that he used it with his knowledge lmao
This is the earliest I've ever seen him upload a video from a stream. According to his his streaming schedule this was streamed just yesterday. You good ant?
He has to post it now while it’s relevant
He said on stream “if I beat Dream today, I upload the video tomorrow”
SmallAnt did his Pokémon pacifist speedrun, edited footage, wrote a script, did the voice over and uploaded before PointCrow was able to just edit and upload his run. The man is beyond questioning with his upload speed at this point.
@@albericponcedeleon2696 Well, that was the upload speedrun. The pacifist speedrun was just the side dish.
Bro what was I smokin
I think that the fact that this luck gave SmallAnt a much better time than Dream's shows who is the best speedrunner
@@aryst0krat also on top of that dream actually got unlucky with his run, he was on wr pace but had bad luck on the end fortress losing him time
@@DeathofHeavens "unlukcy" cant be redeemed here, He was already using a mod that boosted his luck. Even if he got a better run it was not legit in any way
@@056vishvrajchauhan4 im pointing out the fact that if he didnt have that bit of bad luck at the end of his run he would have had a cheat no 1 world record at the time.
some people claim that his cheating wasnt bad coze he didnt get the world record but he definitly was on pace to get one thanks to his cheat and I find that unacceptable, the only reason he didnt get the WR was due to bad luck outside of the mods control
Gacha gamers always know how the "drop rate up" thing can get really good, even if the rate up is just from 0,5% to 1%
I like the idea of having a category where there is almost zero luck involved and it’s purely up to player skill. What if they made a subcategory of Set Seed that uses Dream Luck?
isn't that a less tas-y tas? cool idea tho
@@trigger7ff6 Yeah but sometimes these small diffrences and rules lead to completely different experiences from the runs. I guess you would mod it so all mobs have static drops that lead them to dropping at least 1 of everthing they could possibly drop from there loot table.
Dream%
The problem is that seeds are random, so everyone would have to use the same seed all the time, which would change it from "good at Minecraft" to "good at this seed". So, yeah. Good idea, sadly doesn't work.
@@ondras5241 If your goal was remove literally ALL LUCK then yes. Thou you could say make a category that removes only say the least intresting forms of luck like loot drops but keeps the cooler stuff like worlds and bioems. Things that a players knowlage of the game can effect. (or effect alot more at least)
Honestly, I get the addition of the "accidental" bit, wouldn't want to have rabid Dream children after you.
"accidental" thats why he refused to share he's logs when they asked for it at the start of all this xD
I don't think that's even specifically what he's worried about, clearly the comment section is full of people saying Dream sucks. He just wants to avoid making any kind of statement on the drama regardless of what he thinks, and if that involves quoting Dream's claim at the time, he's willing to do it. I respect that approach a lot.
Don't worry guys theres no mod Tanner just got REALLY lucky
He forgot to install the mod. He'll probably notice several months from now.
"Accidentally cheating", don't make me laugh. That dude knew very well about his mods. He's just mad he got caught cheating and tries to lie his way out of it for the past year now.
“Oh no I accidentally didn’t notice my mod was installed, and that the drop rates I got were of 1 in 7.5 trillions, since I don’t speedrun that often I couldn’t have noticed it, oh and obviously I insulted who accused me and didn’t even think for a second that my *mod to get better drop rates for the only two most important items to speedrun Minecraft* could have been activated after I’ve been told that my drop rates were of 1 in 7.5 trillion”
Smant knows dream cheated intentionally, he just doesnt want to get death threats and such from toxic dream stans
@@arms.3559 yeah dream’s community sucks quite a lot
@@arms.3559 Yup, thought the same. People would get mad and cry really quickly but SmallAnt ain't stupid and he covers it up really well in his video.
@@arms.3559 Yeah I mean most of dream's friends and stuff also probably know that he cheated but they are obviously pretending to believe him because they are his friends. Even though smallant probably knows that he actually cheated, he probably doesn't want to get on bad terms with dream also.
