Configuration : 100% d'origine
Pneus : Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
BROTHER! The way this car oversteers on limit made me respect both you as a driver and the work Honda’s engineers have been putting into their Type Rs lately! What a ride!
It's just his alignment. It's wrong for this track. Too much toe out (or not enough toe in) in the front is causing the front of the car to turn in too hard, throwing the rear out into a slide. It's not good driving. A good driver would immediately notice these bad things happening and want to change alignment.
@@Bryce10011 That's what i though too not a professional driving there just playing around with it but i wanna see the time on how fast it goes with proper driving, that Honda engine is a beast!
@@Bryce10011 are you a paid actor of a different car brand? How often do you want to repeat the same thing in the comment section over and over again?
@@viniciusledesma The people complaining don't seem to have checked the ambient temperature in the gauge cluster. It's between 6 to 10 degrees Celcius (40-50 degrees in Farhenheit) -- no wonder there is no rear tyre temp! Those are borderline temperatures for summer tyres. I'm sure in normal conditions, 25 degrees Celcius, the rear tyres would come in and it wouldn't be oversteering so much. Or the driver could pit and swap the nice warm front tyres to the rear for the next lap. 🙂
We filmed the Wehrseifen slide from the outside: ua-cam.com/users/shortsa0c3moe07ks
Thanks for that I saw that UA-cam short and read the comments to find this channel 😂
Thanks Misha for this nice outside view 😍
Lift-off oversteer in a front wheel drive. It's a beautiful sight to behold. Outstanding driving my good man. A joy to watch.
This is not lift off oversteer. This is the result of incorrect alignment. Way too much toe-out in the front (or not enough toe in) is causing the front of the car to turn in too much and throwing the rear into a slide. This is not a desirable thing. Any good driver experiencing this would immediately want to abandon the lap and change alignment.
@@Bryce10011 The engineers made it like that stock. For whatever its worth, I drove a faithful rendition of the FL5 CTR in Assetto Corsa and it drives exactly like this. I was absolutely stunned by what a pleasure it was to enjoy such smooth, predictable, confidence inspiring, lift off oversteer (especially for corner entry) in such a balanced handling platform that is possible with a well tuned FWD. Truly blissful.
@@Bryce10011 give it up mate. You sound like you have never tried to have fun in a front wheel drive car. Just stop.
@@Bryce10011 Try editing again 😅 Any good keyboard warrior would know he INTENTIONALLY flicked and slid the car to get it to rotate. Even not knowing french I can read that the car is in stock configuration. I guess all the honda engineers don't know performance alignment. 🙄
@@nismo300zr2 My edit was correcting a misspelled word. I know that the description stated that the setup was factory - that doesn't mean that the alignment was good or correct for the track that he's on. If he "INTENTIONNALLY flicked" the car in that aggressively, then that is simply not good driving and that also does not constitute it to be lift-off oversteer. The rear end of the car is over-rotating on every single corner, on throttle or off. It's even doing it on highspeed sections with the throttle flat to the floor. It's plain to see that the toe is just not right for this road and his driving. Why are you even replying to my comment? You said nothing.
For a long time, i havent seen like this driving
Very smooth, very gentleman, know what he does.
Congratulations man...
That third gear drift at 3:50 requires balls man.
This is what real driving is, not that street racing shit people do.
Still the problems with high oil temps. You can see it is serious because the oil pressure goes down as well. Imagine you are driving in hot conditions in summer ...On the other hand nice driving, nice oem setup on the car.
You really like to lift off oversteer 😅 That 3:48 min. save was top notch
You really dont race a fwd huh? THeres no 'save' when the oversteer is intentional and clearly controlled.
He flicked it to the right first then left to throw the weight to the right rise and make it kick out like that
@@nismo300zr2 intentional or not, you have to save it
I can't believe it, they somehow made a fwd hatch that can oversteer and drift
@@shivamarya5225 yeah no kidding. This thing almost doesn’t drive like an FWD.
Quel pilotage ! Bravo ! Le passage où ça contre-braque sévère, chapeau !
This guy knows how to drive a FWD. I'm impressed. Such a smooth and clean driving style. Chapeau! 👌👌👌
Crazy how some of those corners it looked RWD drifting
@@wanglee21 CTR is very neutral so with lifting off you can get the back end to go out and oversteer
It's astonishing to see just how many people in the comments section don't know what clean go fast driving is. Show me one timed race format you see this kind of overdriven driving? None. Because it's slow and terrible driving ya bunch of clowns.
@@Vermonstered Exactly this how you literally don't drive and I have being watching motorsport racing all my life just carrying way to much speed in every corner causing the car to do that.
@@raikkonen804 My god do you people not know what fun is? The driver is clearly having fun sliding the car around. Not every lap has to be max attack!
Quel pilote !!! ❤️
Sport auto should hire you for their lap times...
Bro pushed to next level limit. Though it was shaky (suspension not thay stiff), it was fully controlled. I think u can do below 8 seconds if track is not free. How crazy is ctr.
127 degrees oil temperature at 9 degrees outside? WTF.
Turbo engine kept near the red line what are you expecting?
@@baptiste53240able
Ou plutôt la 5W60 pour un meilleure rendement
@@fasthracing: the temperature is simply too high. What about summer and 30 degrees outside? Does the car switch to emergency mode then?
@@baptiste53240ablethis engine uses 3 synthetic oil types and all can withstand these temperatures. Example the 5W-20 is tested to perform from -35°C to over 150°C.
Yes that's a Honda. With a good driver and tires. 6 sp all the way, no ctvs or ev crap
Very nice drive, I would say the fk8 record , 7:43 is possible with this fl5 car. I use my fl5 in invidual mode ,every Setting is R+ ,just the Suspension is comfort. I see ,here on the Nürburgring bumping in some Corners. Very nice driven 👌
First Type R that handle good as Focus ST :D
Sacré pilote 😮👍👌
El mejor Max Verstappen 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video, awesome drive, what a car! The carousel looked bumpy in R mode 😬
Indeed. Everywhere is bumpy in R mode. 🙂
Honda "quality" product. Keep buying econo boxes with some coilovers and a suped up 4 cylinder and call it track ready lol
@@Pahang.bend17 tell me what’s better? I love these internet experts who don’t have a clue
He drove in +R, dampers are stiffer then.
@@gt-r9035 yep, I know that. I’ve got an FL5, my first track day tomorrow.
If at 7ºC Air temp it reached 127ºC oil temp, I think this Honda might have an issue with hot track days no?
Honda Power!!
A better lap time would have resulted with less sliding. Smooth driving may look slower but always gets a better lap time!
Feels a little excessive here like it's for show or overdriving. Would def like to see a smooth lap for comparison
A top tier driver showing the world how to drive, being both fast and entertaining, and people still think they have to teach him how to drive. What a world. Please show us in your next video how to do it better. I cannot wait.
@@biznatch1791 relax
I didnt see him recording the laptime.
Nice! Good to see the car on the ring. Crazy how a FWD car can oversteer like that. Why do the flashers come on during that run?
The car´s sensors detect a risky situation and activate the flashers to warn the other drivers. For example, hard braking.
its just from hard breaking, every car has it sold in the EU market, dunno about North American safety standards tho
Great driving!! Loved how you were purposely provoking the rear end to come around. You are very in tune with that car.👌🏽🔥🔥
Sebastian, this guy is good pilot aswell. Would be interesting too see him with your Tesla. Good point
Et pourquoi pas ? 😊
PS4s on the rears really struggle with the traction, I guess you can't fire them up in those conditions on Nurbugring. Car looks so nicely balanced tho, controllable oversteer when lifting of and turning.
Is it just me?,or that car accelerates like a 1000cc sports bike?
Absolument magnifique
Comme d’hab à bloc
Quel coup de volant
Chapeau ❤

Largus may not be the fastest way to drive but he alway shows the most fun way to drive . I love his nuts in the throat liftoff oversteering . 👍🇦🇺❤️ my favourite driver .👍🇦🇺
Hard like a bone !
Finally, a properly driven FL5.
Uffff nice driving!!!
Nearly 130 degs oil temp at only 6 degs ambient. I guess Honda didn't address the FK8 cooling issues then, imagine it in summer 👀
145deg BMW 30i in summer
According to the manual this car can take 3 synthetic oils, 0W-20, 0W-30 and 5W-30. Just looking at 5W-30 oils for example you can see brands like Castrol is tested to perform from -35°C to over 150°C.
@@TheCaesarChris tested to 150 meaning peak temperature but highly unlikely it can manage that temp sustained.
Millers CFS motorsport oil for example is 150 max peak but only 125 sustained.
I wouldn't be comfortable with these temps at all, what's it going to be like in 30 degrees ambient 😲
@@k20ee96 Agreed. 150 C is insane. Plus, Honda engineers are not stupid. The car will go on limp mode way before reaching 150 C. New engines like these run hot, but after a track day reaching 130 C best thing to do is change the oil. An oil cooler would help too…
mom Honda has created another masterpiece. But I still prefer the naturally aspirated K20. congratulations to the driver who did a great lap
My great respect for this fast lap 👍👍
Love his drifting skill !! 😮🙌
Le petit leon jaune mazout😂😂
Only 1 time use gear 6. @ 2:01
The car looks like a great package but it seems its almost too stiff from that amount of wheel hopping and head bobbing😅
Original suspensions or coilovers? If so, what spring rates?
Very nice driving by the way, car likes to slide and rotate, fun on an FF car 😊😊
Pretty high oil temperature. At summer it would be critical.
Imagine you make it to Nurburgring and you show up in an FF 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
masterful rotation initiation 💪 i have to put shet tires on the back of my pulsar to get it that loose.
This car should be AWD, for the concept of car, make FWD is a bad idea, push away possible buyers. For this, I prefer catch an RS3 or maybe a BMW awd for track.
104 to 126° C oil temp. It's OK better were 118 max. It's 0w20 I think. Or?
oil temperature close to 128 c but only 6 c outside temperature and only one lap. how will this look like in summer conditions with 30 c outside temperature and some more laps in a row? nice driving on the other side :-)
Probably the same, as every other stock car? Way too hot?
I can't think of a stock car, out of supercar territory, that doesnt reach 120 degrees Oil on the climb from factory.
@@Malar1898 agree. But why? an Type R, or M or AMG or RS …. Should be fine for some rounds without having Oil temp issues…
@@speedexperience1011 i agree, but probably less than 1% of BMW Ms, Audi RS' or AMGs are seeing actual use of their performance.
Most are just shown off, with the occasional launch control in a crowded city
Every Car i've used had a oil (and some even power steering-)cooler installed as first or second mod.
Even the R8 V10 wasnt up for a full Nordschleife run without reaching 123 degrees 🥵
It's painfull to look at how car goes into slide and understeer basically evey tighter corner. What's up with that? I thought this version of type R was all about being "race track" type of a car...
great car and great driver
Well done, you feel great car world driving more videos like this write how the new Typer R is doing on the track greetings fan of the brand.🙂
Lemme guess lap time, slower than MK8 Golf R? Yup, sounds about right. LMFAO SMH
I guess the lift off oversteer/rotation wouldn't be possible with the suspension being in comfort setting (individual mode). Still for me it's hard to imagine that the +R mode is really beneficial on this or other tracks. The hopping always demands driver concentration to not lose control over the car, so it may be tiresome to drive multiple laps in this mode on a track. Additionally all these harsh vibrations/shocks aren't healthy for the suspension and the drivetrain.
Oversteer is achieved through the +R mode. In other modes the traction control cannot be disabled and when it senses that the car is oversteering it will come in and apply the brakes. +R mode was the one setting that enabled the traction control to be disabled.
Source: the article from the journalist driving in this video. Note he also mentions that +R is too stiff for this track.
127 celsius oiltemp during the climb. That oil broke down harder than my Nissans.
Ohhhh.... Very scary drifting oversteering mode...it causes you some significant seconds there
wow the chassis balance looks amazing
Just remember kids, in 5 years time when you are looking at buying one of these second hand, this is how it will have spent it’s life 😮😅
"FWD cars just understeer!"

The hazard lights are so annoying!
How long did FL5 take to complete a full lap?
Amazing driving!, congrats!👏💪
Awesome driving my guy! I hope I can get that good one day.
I saw the intro drift on Micha Charoudins channel haha
So much time lost every time it goes sideways, can't power out like rwd. Novice setup.
The car is lose from back. It needs more downforce in the back
Wow it rotates like a DC2
the emergency braking light in R+ mode is ridiculous, I hate that function
