You won't use them. Few do. They become very annoying in daily driving so unless you have 4 point restraints and are track certified, they are pretty much useless. The car shifts as fast as you can, probably better than you can. As an owner of an Alfa Romeo 4C I can tell you that most of us just let the car drive. Microseconds separate the computer and one false shift by you and you are way behind. Here a wrong shift almost put him into the wall twice and he knew what he was doing. On a track, they work - for everyday they are pointless.
Paddle shift option is a must, no brainer, if anything just for resale value. I can undestand some don't like to use them. Of course a race mode autoshift shifts at the better times and rpm that your own guess, but in regular trafic large paddles can be usefull when the car brain ignores what you want, to downshift downhill for instance or up shift in dense trafic. Have large fixed paddles and small rotating and even shifts buttons on a17yrs old 156. This is the old age question, paddle shift mounted to the wheel vs mounted to the steering column. You may think the column is the right way, but there are other people that prefer mounted to wheel as it allows to change gears when you are turning. for example @1:22 you can see the driver going for an upshift only to realize the paddle is not where he was expecting it to be. One day an automaker will make a car that allows you to mount the paddle shifters wherever you want. few screws out, move and few screws in and done.
Caio Ronnau good point although modern variable ratio steering minimises the steering wheel rotation of sharp turns w/o loosing strait line precision so that fixed oversized paddles are quite ergonomic. Typically it is only if you end up in the wrong gear that you must shift and turn a lot simultaniously. the difficulty of any syst. is to find the right shifter quickly while also avoiding any unwanted shift so programs with more intelligent autoshifts, integrating GPS data for prediction etc are also a possible answer....but where is the fun left...

This guy is super fast! I’ve done turistenfart am Nordschleife for 10 years now and I know what it feels like when guys like this one comes flying past! What a driver! What a car!
Unbelievably great car, unbelievable driving skills!!!
Nice drive, great job 👍 Because the Giulia is not a 911 GT3, now you can change your tires 😁
fantastic - keeping up with a hard-driven RS? Impressive.
Lol if he can keep up, the RS isn't driven that hard
it's ok man relax, i didn't say it was faster.
The Giulia QV is only 5 seconds slower than that GT3 RS lap. So, I'm pretty sure it can keep up.
5 Seconds slower than the 997.2 RS 4.0. This 991.1 RS lapped the Nürb in 7:20, it's 12 seconds faster than the Giulia.
The Giulia is 12s slower than a GT3 RS, but regardless of that, it's quite impressive. To be frank, I think the speed difference between them in the hands of a pro driver is bigger than that, but we're comparing a track toy to a sport saloon, so yeah, impressive!
Very good driver for an Alfa masterpiece! Giulia Quadrifoglio is a real monster
3 times alfa romeo owner here..waiting for delivery on my giulia 😍
This guy has some big balls. Nice driving!
What a good driver he made it so easy and very very good car
Incredible driving and an incredible car!
I’m a good driver but can never drive to the limit and beyond whilst maintaining such control like this guy. Great skills 👍
Cool. My wife has done the Nurburgring in the VLN configuration, but I've only done the Nordschleife during Touristenfahrten.
Oversteer at small karussell (9:38) !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great control !!!!!!
What a driver!! In a "race" mode too.. incredible.
I didn´t know that this car had such good performance.
Super parcours !! très belle voiture ...Bravo ...
Wow, imagine having a 4 door Alfa that can keep up with a 911 GT3 RS... Well done Alfa!! Skilled driver tho!!
Great video. The only edge the GT3 seemed to have is how much better he can get on it coming out of the corners. But the turbos spool up and unbelievably he catches the GT3 by the next corner. Great braking.
Dude, great driver and car! You and that car are one. 🏎
Well done..Clean ride..... small errors .... PFFFFFFF Amazing fast car with good roadholding manners
Nice pilot...👏🏻
Wow! Love the GT3 and Porsche in general. GT3 was built for the "Ring" BUT seeing how the Alfa handled the "Ring" and kept up with the GT3 (more or less) says a lot about the Alfa. Very skillful driver to boot. Congratulations, job well done.
The driver in the Alfa wasn't the best he didn't use the most optimal lines for the apex... but then both had to fight traffic.
Bravo le pilote respect ✊
That porsche looks so steady no oversteer nothing . Alfa driver was fabulous working to keep up
I also race with a Giulia... in Assetto Corsa......
A few minutes ago i did it too with using my phone as steering wheel i did 8.43.640
Great video and driving. I found myself yelling, "MOVE" at the screen for those Bimmers. Etiquette at the Ring is important.
Nice driving with Perfect car!
This car is not only beautiful, but powerful too, great car, great Alfa! Forza Italia
btw this is one of the best magazine drivers ...like Chris , Jethro and R. Meaden
Incredible driving. Incredible car.
What an amazing driver with fantastic car
Red GT3 out of the corners was balanced and got the power down earlier ,but the Alfa driver was a solid operator and caught it everywhere else.
Alfa qv its a very nice car best sedan ever made and have no fear, but the bad thing is traction. Porche have a fluid traction and never lose control. Nice work for alfa’s driver very professional. GOAT
my heart in Alfa
