My biggest mistakes throughout my photography journey was arriving late at the location and hustling for a good composition, but now as i am getting better at what iam doing with my images i have realised the importance of getting there early and scouting. It was a great video brother.
I have always said that I like the way water looks when completely frozen. It looks cool with long exposure but it’s a different vibe to it when it’s frozen in time.
I love that faster shutter speed shot of the waves, i like it much better than the longer exposure ones tbh. I find it so refreshing to see a faster shutter speed on moving water done elegantly. Moreover, the texture on that image shows the power of the waves that are coming in, i love it!
I enjoyed your faster shutter speed image and liked how you described the contrast of the texture of the water with the smoothness of the clouds. It also made me realise that I prefer to see the power of the waves rather the smooth water of a long exposure. The 1/2 exposure was able to achieve the drama of the waves in the background with the smoother water in the foreground. Thanks for sharing you tip to scout the scene, I’m off to the coast tomorrow with my 10-18mm lens and am exciting to put your info into practice.
this is so rad. You always pick such good music, that fits so well. Mellow vibes. This is a spot I need to get down to Sd for. Among other spots. well done man!
Short exposure for me, I guess most landscape photographers have 'slow' eyeballs. It's nice to see what I see for a change. I always enjoy your work, thanks.
I like the 1/500th second exposure. EVERYONE seems to think the water must be smoothed and blurred, but frankly, I feel it's becoming a cliche in itself. I like the contrast between the soft sky and the activity in the water. Plus, you can do it in one exposure, and simply enjoy the moment as a photographer, rather than at home being a computer jockey. That said, your longer exposures and blended exposures were gorgeous as well. Also loved your reminder about scouting about and giving oneself time to digest the possibilities. Great video!
I love the photo taken with shorter shutter speed. Sometimes it is nice to capture something closer to what the eye really sees. I love all of your work, but the last pic of the ridges was incredible.
Both are very beautiful and unique. Personally, I like the longer shutter speed which is so soothing/softer to my eyes and spirit. Still...both are stunning.
I like the faster shutter speed image, it has a great look to the water as it’s mostly foam and brings out the action of the water movement. The ethereal shot looks great and gives the viewer a sense of calm. In these two particular images if I had to chose one or another I’d have to pick the faster exposure.
You asked about our opinions on 2 images - I prefer the simplicity that a long exposure gets you, the texture is interesting but the simplicity, for me, is king. Thanks for sharing these vlogs where you go out and explore and shoot!
Beautiful landscapes. I learn a lot just by watching your videos. Thank you Love those landscapes! I learn so much just by watching your creative abilities. Thank you!
I've said this before and I'll say it again: you're a wizard of landscape photography, Michael! The feel you bring out with your images and vlogs is just serene and surreal, wishing you the best!
Your images are beautiful. I do love long exposure but I have to say I loved the water at the fast shutter speed. Water is always interesting to me as it looks just as beautiful when freezing the motion as it is with a longer shutter speed. Thanks for sharing.
I preferred the last shot but of the two, I like that you have both. Between them my favorite depends on my mood. The energy of the faster speed is great but the calmness is good too.
I think you’ve captured the emotion and experience, the internalised quandary, balance and continual desire to explore and capture your art through photography. I relate to this video as i’m sure many of your viewers do. A deep photography experience and transmitted in a honest and well presented way. Thanks, great work.
I enjoyed the image taken with the faster shutter speed. The majority of photos that include moving water are, almost always, taken at slower speeds and though they are nice to view, can look the same as every other photo of moving water. Seeing all the detail in the churning water is a nice change of pace.
all the way from Eire, love the first shot. for me it a the 3rd shot that seals the deal. glad I randomly found your channel. you may have another sub!
I loved all the shutter speeds. It was the light that got better towards the end! Wow man those clouds and combinations of water and sky, a shoot that could last forever. Beautiful photography.
I love your location it reminds me of one of our local beaches in West Cumbria just a few miles south of Scotland. Regarding long and short exposures until recently I've always loved long exposure then accidentally took a short exposure and loved it. Now I think there's pros and cons for both!
Amazing video as usual. I loved that last shot u showed. But in regards to your question. I like both - the shorter and longer exposure because both have something special about them
Seascape photography can be extra challenging, but when you get super conditions like these & its well captured, it brings you there, makes you feel the splash.. while 500th of a sec gives you a more realistic shot, i feel the longer exposures provide the wow factor and a sense of motion that makes you slow down and really download everything the image has to offer...well done..
Fun to watch you at your old playground. I prefer the longer exposures because it's a little more relaxing. I'd take that golden light any day! Matches really well with the tones of the rocks.
Yes… Michael online! And once again the video and photowork is great! It’s good to hear it don’t comes naturaly Michael. Sometimes it seems everything you shoot is great, but i now you put a lot of effort in it! Thnx again.
Short story - I was on a workshop with Mr. Page a couple of weeks ago. The subject of really talented photographers came up and he immediately pointed you out. I think you were shooting in dunes (not sure). You asked if it was ok to take a shot on his camera (again unsure of the details here). He said when he got home it was the best image on his card! Really enjoy your work.
Realized I can’t be preparing a meal and shooting landscape/sunset at the same time. Gotta chose one; food or landscape. Too many disconnected variables. Planning and preparation is required, time to manage the unpredictable that inevitably pops up, so you can execute the activity. No, I wasn’t camping. Balcony shooting at the beach. Lol. Appreciate and enjoy your presentations; packages of knowledge and knock-out images. Every time. Thanks!
What a great location Michael, love the long exposures with the mini waterfalls off the rocks and and that final sunset with the rock pools looks fantastic 👍
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Your composition with the rock in the foreground, triangular shaped that is further pronounced by the 16mm focal length, is the option I was seeing from the very start of your video. Thumbs up on that one.
Nice work. I like the short exposure shot better than the long but not long enough shots; the streaky look is more chaotic to the eye than the genuine chaos of the frozen moment. I really hate last ripple effect rock one, because it's so much nicer than my efforts and I can be petty like that :)
I love the slow shutter speed photos compared to the faster one. I feel the the softness of the sky with the more focused and fast water causes dissonance for me. If that makes sense! Love the location!!
Hi Michael, let me first complement you on your calm way of sharing your knowledge. It’s very inspiring. On the seascape I like long exposures which are giving a kind of dreamy effect. On short exposure I like the way a wave is visible when the composition isn’t to messy. Thanks for sharing!
I prefer the longer exposures in this instance, but the faster exposure is definitely proof of the importance of experimenting with shutter speed, getting those frames and giving yourself options afterwards.
Beautfiul work mate. I liked the shorter exposure with the detail, but then I enjoyed the longer exposures too. But then I'd just be happy being at a beach that looked this awesome 😊😊
In my opinion so are you the best "all round" landscape photographer on youtube. Would be interesing to se more tree and forest/woodland photography from you. Anyway, you deserve more views here:) Cheers from Norway.
Thanks so much man! I have a new video coming either this weekend or next weekend where I shoot woodland film photography. It should be a lot of fun! :)
Hey Michael, again a very good video. Both exposure are beautiful. The long exposure are more dreamy, and the short exposure have more power. I really enjoy that video. Greetings from Germany.
I came across your channel earlier this month and really appreciate your work Michael. AMAZING stuff. coming from an automotive background where I love to integrate beautiful land scapes into my images, your videos have helped me find a new perspective and approach to photographing/videoing my subjects. Especially your acute attention to composition. One of my favorite aspects of being a photographer is the never ending search for knowledge and new perspectives to integrate into your own workflow. Having the ability to see into the mind of another creative is absolutely priceless and I look forward to following along your creative journey.
It is wonderful way to learn from your videos and from you, one of the best! Your videos and pictures are beautiful, work of the artist, and very educational. Thanks Michael!
I like your idea of scouting out compositions ahead of time. I actually did that for the annular eclipse last week and it made things less hectic. My favorite shot of yours is the third one in your first set of shots. The long exposure of the water over the rocks is sensational and that sky is incredible! Thanks for another great video!
Hi Michael, great images , I especially like the one at 8.5 . Seascapes are my favourite happy place landscape photography locations, even if you don't rally nail an image you still have all the benefit of spending time close to water and nature. Cheers Chris.
Wow, I could not decide, which is better, shorter or longer exposure, they both have their special qualities. Thanks again for this amazing video, I always enjoy this beautiful landscapes you give us the possibility to visit with your videos. So inspirational!
My biggest mistakes throughout my photography journey was arriving late at the location and hustling for a good composition, but now as i am getting better at what iam doing with my images i have realised the importance of getting there early and scouting. It was a great video brother.
In this particular composition, I really liked the short exposure showing the details in the crashing waves
These are fantastic examples of capturing seascapes, which are more difficult than dry landscapes.
Oh, how wonderful. Everything is so anazing. There's nothing chaotic about any picture.
I have always said that I like the way water looks when completely frozen. It looks cool with long exposure but it’s a different vibe to it when it’s frozen in time.
I like the 2nd shot of the first series best with its combination of smooth flow over the rocks and chaos between the rocks.
The shot around 7 minutes in was epic, for me the best of the set that night.
Yeah, it's chaotic, but so is the ocean. Nice one Mick.
Michael, thank your. Your work is inspiring.
Yes, I do like the faster shutter photo with the nice defined texture. The warm reflected light on the rocks on many images was really nice.
Still one of my favorite photographers! Id love to see you and fototripper do more work together.
I love that faster shutter speed shot of the waves, i like it much better than the longer exposure ones tbh. I find it so refreshing to see a faster shutter speed on moving water done elegantly. Moreover, the texture on that image shows the power of the waves that are coming in, i love it!
It is a special place. Thanks for sharing.
The pictures are beautiful i love the one with the rock in front....
Man that light was Devine !! Stunning shots and explained well as always !! The longer exp’s for me
Beautiful shots and the lovely sunset colors.
I enjoyed your faster shutter speed image and liked how you described the contrast of the texture of the water with the smoothness of the clouds. Hi Michael
Love the long exposure shot, third picture you showed us!
this is so rad.
Very inspiring tutorial
Great photos. I liked the shorter shutter speed photo best. For me it shows the power of the water better.

Beautiful shots. The longer exposure is my favorite.
I love the photo taken with shorter shutter speed. Sometimes it is nice to capture something closer to what the eye really sees. I love all of your work, but the last pic of the ridges was incredible.
Enchanting places and wonderful shots all with envious light and texture
Great Video!! The shorter exposure was my favorite!! Thanks!

I love the patterns on the rocks shelf when you use short expouser, I think in this case is more compositive
Beautiful landscapes. I learn a lot just by watching your videos. Thank you
Love those landscapes! I learn so much just by watching your creative abilities. Thank you!
I really like how the colors of the sky are captured in the foam in the short exposure image. Nice video!
I've said this before and I'll say it again: you're a wizard of landscape photography, Michael! The feel you bring out with your images and vlogs is just serene and surreal, wishing you the best!

Awesome photos as always Michael. Love that last one especially. I can see an eagles face in the foreground rock. 😀
I enjoyed the image taken with the faster shutter speed. Seeing all the detail in the churning water is a nice change of pace.
I prefer the short exposure as I like to see the texture in the sea. Your videos are always excellent and it is nice to see the different shots.
all the way from Eire, love the first shot. for me it a the 3rd shot that seals the deal. glad I randomly found your channel. you may have another sub!
Simply stunning images
AMAZING iMAGES N LOCATION !!!!!!!!! i love the slower shutter speeds !!! GOD BLESS !!!!!!!!
thanks so much!
I loved all the shutter speeds. It was the light that got better towards the end! Wow man those clouds and combinations of water and sky, a shoot that could last forever. Beautiful photography.
Each photo is a masterpiece Michael.
I love the taste and the texture of your image with a higher shutter speed.
I love your location it reminds me of one of our local beaches in West Cumbria just a few miles south of Scotland. Regarding long and short exposures until recently I've always loved long exposure then accidentally took a short exposure and loved it. Now I think there's pros and cons for both!
Love them both but prefer the longer exposure! Thanks for the informative session!
Amazing video as usual. I loved that last shot u showed. But in regards to your question. I like both - the shorter and longer exposure because both have something special about them
Beautiful Michael. Inspiring stuff.
I recognize that beach. It’s the exact one I learn to shoot landscapes. I still go to it once in a while. Beautiful photos.
Hi there. Which beach is this? I’m from SoCal and would love to visit this beach someday., thanks

Amazing captures. 😍
Thanks for sharing your insights & amazing work.. 🙏🏽❤️
Gorgeous light and compositions. I like the longer exposures myself but all are great.
just one word.... Ameasing...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
love the textured image.....its not too violent and still provides a level of ethereal sometimes overdone in longer exposures. well done.

Stunning images Michael, I often visit locations over and over and find new and interesting compositions each time. Thanks for sharing.

What a great location Michael, love the long exposures with the mini waterfalls off the rocks and and that final sunset with the rock pools looks fantastic 👍
Texture Baby!!!!
Awesome images as always. I really like the textured water. It's a nice change from the super soft water that we see in many images.
The compositions, whether longer or shorter exposure, are fantastic and illicit different moods related to the energy they convey.
Thanks so much!
Gorgeous! And I personally loved the one with the water texture on the rock. Your images are stunning!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Your composition with the rock in the foreground, triangular shaped that is further pronounced by the 16mm focal length, is the option I was seeing from the very start of your video. Thumbs up on that one.
Such a delight to see and deeply appreciate Nature through your lens... especially during these times on our Planet... Thank you Michael! :)
Never cease to amaze... more great images!!
Great video. I prefer the short exposure. Love the texture in the water.
Loved the shorter exposure on the first comp. A great set of images, loved them all. Cannot wait to move to the coast!
Nice work. I like the short exposure shot better than the long but not long enough shots; the streaky look is more chaotic to the eye than the genuine chaos of the frozen moment. I really hate last ripple effect rock one, because it's so much nicer than my efforts and I can be petty like that :)
Great stuff, Michael. Loved the higher shutter speed image with the frozen texture, but then immediately fell in love with the latter images.
I love the slow shutter speed photos compared to the faster one. I feel the the softness of the sky with the more focused and fast water causes dissonance for me. If that makes sense! Love the location!!
Michael you have a great talent and your photos are absolutely stunning…keep up the great work!
Really enjoyed that thank you for sharing really amazing seascape shots 👌👏👏
Hi Michael, let me first complement you on your calm way of sharing your knowledge. It’s very inspiring.
On the seascape I like long exposures which are giving a kind of dreamy effect. On short exposure I like the way a wave is visible when the composition isn’t to messy.

Another great one to watch Michael! I would love to go back some day! Beautiful place! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for an awesome and inspiring video. I like the soft water flow, but also think the image where the water was more textured is more realistic.
Amazing sunset. I would love to hang a large print of this. Really nice. For me the long exposure is the better shot.
Thanks Michael for another great video. I personally love the water movement exposures around 1/2 - 1 second the most.
Beautfiul work mate. I liked the shorter exposure with the detail, but then I enjoyed the longer exposures too. But then I'd just be happy being at a beach that looked this awesome 😊😊
I just love some long exposures but all of your shots are so awesome 😍
amazing . Excellent and complete

Video really hits home hard! Exceptionally relatable mate - appreciate this a tonne
Masterful & magnificent my friend ❤

I like long exposure because it’s creating the sense of movement and I feel I was there.
Hello Michael, and very well done, magnificent images in the extreme! I imagine you shall print these images and pop them up on your wall...
I like your idea of scouting out compositions ahead of time. I actually did that for the annular eclipse last week and it made things less hectic. My favorite shot of yours is the third one in your first set of shots. The long exposure of the water over the rocks is sensational and that sky is incredible! Thanks for another great video!
Inspiring as always! Thanks

I really appreciate that Kris, thanks so much!
