So many Federation-ending problems could have been avoided by just installing security cameras, and maybe dialing up the artificial gravity to pin everyone to the floor until you've contained the intruders.
DS9 actually has station security cameras. But as any good _Among Us_ players know, the impostor can easily sabotage those while moving about the ship.
Fun fact the actor playing the ambassador and the changling (Lawrence Pressman) is the same actor who plays Legit Tekenny Ghemore in the episodes Second Skin and Ties of blood and water.
Julian wasn't even paying attention during the screening process because he was probably trying to work out who the culprit was in his head, but that lapse did make him look guilty. It's ok folks he's just a mutant not a changeling, carry on.
@@andrewleah1983 I remember two episodes in which a Changeling impersonated Dr. Bashir. In this episode, the Changeling pretended to be Dr. Bashir when Chief O'Brien found him in the conduit. At the one-minute mark, you can hear Dr. Bashir saying that he was never in any conduit and Chief O'Brien protesting that he saw him there. Later in this episode, the Changeling impersonated Dr. Bashir again, to fake a blood test and make it look like Eddington was the Changeling. There was also the episode in which Worf, Garak, Martok, and Bashir were all prisoners of the Jem'Hadar. It was revealed that Bashir had been there for a month, and a Changeling had taken his place on DS9 during that time.
When did the zenkethy become such an important race that an entire quadrant hangs in the balance. I’m sure the tholians or the paxons are really miffed at being given short shrift.
The whole Tzenkethi threat is primarily in beta canon like the novels & STO, with a few throwaway lines during TNG & DS9. One of the little side wars Starfleet was having during the 2360s, I don’t think we ever see any Tzenkethi onscreen. They do team up with the Breen and others in the Typhon Pact novels against the Federation later on.
I have slain many Tzenkethi in STO which could be the extinction of them so it is mainly beta canon but I am hoping for a same design but less agressive than in STO. Peaceful reptilians. 😊
Ah, the famous, "Thanks for stating the obvious!" episode. Also, not having weapons at the ready for the changeling scan, Odo doesn't follow the Ambassador into the vent.
No. Just 2: Odo and the one posing as the Ambassador. It posed as Bashir later in the episode to fake a blood screening that made Eddington look guilty. The Changeling that replaced Bashir for several episodes and tried to blow up the Bajoran sun isn't for another season and a half.
You'd think that the Federation would use some of their plot hole time travel technology to go back in time and get a couple on-off switches from RadioShack so they can turn off the computers when aliens take them over.
Can't tjey just eject the warp core. It'll be uncomfortable as hell, but they have the fusion drive which can provide power for water and rations. They won't make into to Zenkati space so no attack and there stranded along with the Changeling till help arrives.
haha yea. And dax was surely slow on the uptake. Infact, this was done poorly in general. They should have been doing these little blood tests in a containment field or something. Or at least hand security with phasers set to stun trained on the testees
easy way to get around it. Everyone do a thin cut on your hand. Changelings dont bleed. Then when you meet another crew-mate, you show one another your cut hand as confirmation. No cut = phaser them.
I never understood the logic behind all this, so ok, the changeling can be a rock or anything else, but there must be an energy signature holding it together, it shouldn't be that hard with the tech in that time to detect them with sensors, either ship or portable sensors, but with DS9, they make it seem like they can't, as in, if it's a rock, there's no energy signature at all and I don't buy that idea. I suspect with the level of tech in that day and age, it would be easy to detect them with sensors, where they would only be a threat without sensors, but if as they say, if it changes into a rock and it becomes the rock, then what is holding the lifeform together? If it's a rock with no energy signature, it would be lifeless and no threat at all, so it's very likely there's some energy source that would make it easy to detect them. I know, it's a tv show and common sense goes out of the windows, but still, I find it amusing how scriptwriters sometimes like to treat us like idiots lol.

The producers of *Andromeda* would agree, as all High Guard vessels had such features.
Changelings are harder than you think to pin down. Even security cameras won’t help.
This can easily backfire. If the intruder gains a position of leadership, they'll be the ones turning up the gravity and being harder to stop.
DS9 actually has station security cameras. But as any good _Among Us_ players know, the impostor can easily sabotage those while moving about the ship.
My house has more cameras lol
Reminiscent of the scene from "The Thing" where they are testing everyone's blood to see who isn't human.
Blood never lies lol.
Kira

Snort!
😂🤣😂
Bashir: "Oh I've played this scene before in my head."
Kira: "What?"
Jadzia: "What?"
Bashir: "What?"
Literally Among us.

*Legate
@@DRKLCNS1 Perhaps he was a legit legate?
Pressman's portrayal Ghemor was truly underrated (on par with Harris Yulin's Mauritza), and he was also scarily good in Changeling form!
Then a Romulan senator pops up out of nowhere and shouts...
"He's a faaaake!"
I'm surprised it doesn't become a meme.
Vreenak really missed his chance with Lovok Changeling.

Genetic Engineering does not make you a mutant.

The irony is a changeling does take his form (I can’t recall if it’s this one).

@@andrewleah1983 Absolutely not. Only Odo. And Jadzia.
1:23 Odo's expression foreshadows what would inevitably happen!
So the plan was to scan until you found the Changeling, telegraph with you expression that you found him and then...
And then blowup the budget with CGI
"Confine everyone to quarters and seal them in with forcefields"
I THOUGHT YOU LOST CONTROL OF THE SHIP?
hmmm... probably just propulsion, transporters, and weapon systems.
No because of the sub space quantum loop relay wizard did it.
It turned into a vase, then a water spout, then it took off. 😂
Seems that Dax should have given more thought about what she would do if she detected a changeling.
Transported of the ship? Unlikely at warp.
Didn't Scottie have that down!😂
We don't speak of anything that comes after JJ verse. Trek want the greatest for tech continuity before then but it's a complete joke after that.

Very simple way to find a changeling- use Betta Zed Empaths. How come nobody came up with this idea??

I think they can "simulate" (copy) blood drops but as soon as they are separated from their "body", it will go back to the changeling form.
You have to separate the blood from them to make it revert. They can shapeshift blood and cuts all day, until a drop falls off.
How about a manual warp core ejection?

Wasn't Bashir a Changeling(imposter) in the last couple of episodes?
Not the last
That was in season 5 actually. 🙂

Rick and Morty.... honestly....

Can't they just disable the warp core? Some stupid overload or whatever.
Maybe they don't want to be sitting ducks. A lot to explain when found.
The devices the Dominion placed cut them off from the system components
Or just switch it off at the wall.
No blood test?
