@@steventhornton4716 right? I can understand why we'd have them here in the US... But that's cause we can have (pardon my imperial units) 110°F Summers and 0°F winters with monsoon like rains during the warm weather, and freezing rain / enormous snow storms in the winter. The UK by comparison, is like very mild weather. I think the closest analogue for UK weather in the north America would be like Seattle or Vancouver.
@@scenicdepictionsofchicagolife we do get bad snow down to minus 15c it just depends on where the jet stream sits and where the cold air comes from I guess I've seen it 4 feet deep before now
They sound for all the world like diesels made by GE here in the USA. They have a wonderful 'chugging' exhaust note, due to the 4 cycle configuration. the older GE's had more noise than the new ones, a result of gov't regulation on sound output, I wager.
Wow! Amazing clips here!!! Gotta love all these lovely 37's, and their amazing thrashes!!! That plough just looks so weird, yet so amazing and interesting! I love it! ;) Great clips, great video overall, loved it!! ;)

Great Video!..... love the deep throb of those 2 cycle EMD prime movers (Series 710 E3 = 710 cubic inches displacement per cylinder - not sure if they have the V12 or the V16 in these, though) in EMD's "export" locomotives from the US... one was the passenger pulling out at the 9:05, another was on the freight at around the 10:25, and several others. Those Deltic's sound like a "fart in a windstorm" lol.... but I will say that they seem to load fairly quickly though.
At 8:02 that snowplow looks like something out ot a "Mad Max Thunderdome' movie! What an odd creature it is. I can't imagine that the UK gets that much snow to warrant such a beast. That said I was happy to see it!
Excellent video best I have seen for a long time especially liked the station locations on the screen and the train information everybody should do this.I am now subscribed and look forward to future videos.
I don't know what type of engines these are but I love the sound of them going from idle to powering up a little! You gotta love it! And steam to boot! What more can a person ask for?
Love the fact that our old Cargo-D Mk. 2's and 3's still look the part 10 years on - they didn't look like that when we were picking them out at Long Marston and Kineton for reactivation. One Mk.3 FO looked like it had blue seats (they were actually maroon), until you realised that it was just mould because they were sealed up so tight and just sat there like giant petri dishes. We probably should've sold the upholstery and carpets to MOD Porton Down...
I'm lucky enough to remember the bigger brother to the class 37, the Class 40 in revenue earning service running at speeds of upto 90 mph on the main line in N Wales and NW England. What a sound!

@@g.h.t.6881 Do you remember the train length at that time? In other words, do nowadays trains have more weagons? So the horse power of one of those locomotives is not sufficient so they use two of them!

It’s down to the reliability of the traction, class 37’s are not the most reliable engines so usually the second is a back up. If it is at the rear of the train it is so they can change ends and drive away without the need to run round/brake test etc. All these engines in the footage have more than enough power to pull a fully laden passenger service (500-600t) as they are normally utilised on freight (900-1900t)

Thank you. You can photograph and film at many stations without requiring a platform ticket; however, it is best to check who the station is owned by and the relevant companies' website for full details relating to photography and filming. Some stations, particularly Network Rail owned or ones within London, you may have to seek authorisation before doing so or perhaps not use certain equipment like tripods and external microphones. I can only think of Stratford International which I have been to recently that I had to purchase a platform ticket before going on the platform.

Why do the majority of passengers trains is pulled by two locomotives? Does the topology there so hard?
Back in the 1970s I saw and travelled the UK being pulled by one of these loco's. One can only presume it to be a reliability issue.
