  • A floating ship experiences different types of movements due to the 6 degrees of freedom it undergoes when in water.
    The movements like Yawing, Surging, Swaying, Pitching, Heaving, and Rolling of the ship are the six movements or the 6 degrees of freedom that everyone who has been on the ship must have experienced. All these ship movements are explained in the video including the wave-induced ship movements which may result in Pounding, Panting, etc.
    The video explains the parametric rolling which only happens in a container ship and why excessive parametric rolling may lead to accidents and capsizing of the ship.
    Watch the video and understand how 6 degrees of freedom affect the ship movements in different directions.

    Greetings sir, Wonderful explanation.
    One question, i am going to give my GME interview this year, do i need to focus on these topics? Is it necessary for GME interviews?

    • @marineinsight
      @marineinsight  4 роки тому +1

      These are the basics and can be asked in the interview. Parametric rolling was one of the famous question being asked in the interviews.

      There's rotation on the xy&z axii and then there's translation on the xy&z planes.
      Tilting in three ways and moving in three ways.
