Is this update required immediately after taking it out of the box brand new? When I power on the unit & try to choose either diagnose, settings, or help & click ok the screen freezes up leaving me not able to do anything. Hopefully this is due to just the scanner not being updated, if not then I have a defective unit. If you can help it will be greatly appreciated thanks👍😎
Well I bought this off eBay & I was told in another post to format the SD card & upgrade the software. I'm going to try that but the seller claims it's brand-new & it would appear you wouldn't have to do all this updating if it was brand-new. I hope it's not defective😱
I carried out this same upgrade on my unit and it worked of sorts. When I use the unit now it I’ll connect to the vehicle (2003 R230 500SL) however, I seem to have lost the ability to read and clear faults I the history of the SRS system. I used to be able to do this under Air Bag section sensors in the original software but now it just responds with “No communication with ECU” following a short pause. If anyone else has encountered this and found a fix please post here? Thanks
You will notice the unit will retain the OLD software version and the new one which you just upgraded to. My suggestion is to select the older version provided at boot up choice and use that version if the new version does not work. When the unit is first plugged in the version choice is presented. Also - you might want to try different SRS manufacturers of the SRS unit. At times they get this wrong and so you can chose a different model of car or truck and sometimes the SRS will match. Case in point - to get the scanner to scan the brake controller in my 2005 ML500 I needed to select a Mercedes Sprinter Van to have a "TEVES" ABS controller presented and working. Get my drift? English is not their first language in China. Stick pictograms are.
If I have the MB II can I get the software for BM II? I have a Benz and a BMW so would I need both scanners? Or can I upload the BMW/Mini onto the MB II?
five years l have had this scan tool and not one single software update. They just expect you to but the next new version ref MB v3. pathetic customer support

You can leave the SD card in the device simply plug the USB download cable in - saves messing around with a card reader
They make this way to hard to update in my opinion. My manual doesn't say anything about removing the card from the mb scanner! Interesting!
I wish this tool was able to activate carplay/androidauto on supported models.

Get a replacement. Update not required unless you are missing certain functionality

No idea. Probably not but who knows? You can give it a try. If it breaks your scanner you are out of luck.
