I actually think the 80s Never Ended one sounded the best. Although, pretty much all the most popular shred techniques came out of the late 70s and 80s.
I'm a terrible guitar owner who should be playing and practicing, especiallywith the amount of guitars that I own. With that said, I must ask, what do you mean by "unleashing donuts"?

Nahh, nothing beats number3, a solo with some delicious WAH WAH sound. The Wah Pedal is Greatest invention that ever happened to the electric guitar👍....the Wah is also the best effect there is, If you only need to have one effect on your pedal board, its gotta be the Wah pedal!.... it sounds good Always!🔥, covers a lot of my crappy soloing and horrible vibrato. Wah Wah rules and Wah Wah Forever!, always remember the Wah pedal is your best friend.👺
That 80s solo sounds incredible holy shit. I think a lot of the magic comes from the chord progression behind the music and of course your note choices.
Sick playing! Lately I've been obsessed with whole tone and diminished licks. Also trying to cement my muscle memory of phrygian dominant/harmonic minor in all positions across the fretboard.
I feel that brother, those are honestly some of the coolest scales. If you know Phrygian Dominant well, also look into the Persian, Byzantine, and Oriental scales. Most of the patterns are very similar to PD, but they use some chromaticism for some very exotic sounds.
Melody + Shred together is my favorite type of solo. Like ...And Justice (the song). The solo opens with the repeating melodic line, before the second half breaks into the 80s Kirk shred.
I wouldn't say I'm a shredder, but I've definitely become a bit of a wah addict on my Sunday with Ola riff challenges since discovering the AHG wah preset on Bias FX 2!

Dave Murray and Adrian Smith style.
