- Welcome back. I'm excited to introduce my new project, a 1999 Mercedes E55 AMG. I didn't know I needed a V8 sedan project like this but it needed me. In a previous video I talked about looking at this car and now it's finally in my garage.
In true Tyler Hoover fashion it is definitely somewhat of a hoopty but I'm confident we'll get it looking much better.
😃This is my first Mercedes and I only know a surface level of details about these cars so comment what are some of the things I should address that aren't obvious

Such an awesome car. I bought a silver '99 E55 from a Benz tech in Houston, 2yrs ago. It had 150k on it and another engine from a CLS55 was put in it. Drives perfect, no leaks or codes of any kind. These are some of the best cars ever put on the road if you can find one from the south! 1999 is also the first and last year these E55s were handmade away from an assembly line. I also think they look MUCH BETTER than the ugly "facelift" on the 2000-02 years!!
Also, sounds like the last owner(s) already deleted the 100lbs of extra resonator and secondary catalytic converter!!! Sounds good.

@@shawnschroeder549 I gotta agree that preface looks way way better i tried on my monoblocks and they looked good but on a facelift they dont look as good its something with the OG styling of the W210
iv'e had 3 of these and currently have 2. I bought my current daily driver for $4,000 with 190 k miles last august. Since then Ive put almost 15k miles on it and drove Massachusetts to florida 3 times no problems. these are great cars
7:14 clicking sound when you take off. What might that be?
I also have a W210 E55 Designo espresso edition 2001 model year. I've owned it since 2005. Drove it up and down I-5 between California and Canada many times. I recently had a transmission service done and brakes all around using OEM rotors and pads. My AMG pulls so hard now after that transmission service. My only problem with it is the LCD display (clock and temperature). Other than that my car has been solid. This will now be my 2nd car since I bought a new Honda SUV as daily driver.

Rob P Wow I didn’t even notice that little click but I hear it now. I’ve noticed I’ve got a little oil leak, possible a rear main seal, yikes! Perhaps a trans service is a good idea. I know these motors are bulletproof but the trans does concern me. What’s does one of those run?
If you're interested in replacing the seat I have an identical 2 tone one from a 2001 e55 that was wrecked. Also I've got the engine cover and can probably help you out with other hard to find AMG parts. Located in Texas as well

Just picked up one a few days ago for 4200, its in great shape, the Mercedes logo is still on the engine cover.

Recently bought a silver 210 in SoCal for 4700 last week. 110k miles on the dash. After watching these videos and waiting 2 months, finally bagged one and it’s def a beast.

Nice, I just got a 2000 ML55 AMG w 152k as my daily driver, bought for $1,500 with a no-start issue and so far temporarily fixed it with $10 push button switch added in the dash directly from key switch to starter LOL.
Was well taken care of, including $14,000 in all Mercedes Dealer paper service receipts just in the last 25k mi. Daily driving 80 mi a day for past 3 weeks and just added slightly oversized Hankooks, 285/60/18's.

Oh nice. I just watched a video on one of those on Legit Street Cars. I’m thinking my next daily driver will be either one of those or ideally a G55 AMG if I can find one.

Someone didn’t love this car, kinda hurts to see one in such bad shape. I own one and it was also in bad shape but I gave it a lot of love in 10 years and now is working lovely. I just handle the car to a dealership in Dallas Tx and they did an amazing job. Price spent over $12,000
I sold this car, came from Lewisville Tx. I bought it from auction.
Joahim Morales nice. I’m sure you bought it cheaper than me then. I’m fixing it up as we speak. Runs good, the interior is just a bit beat up.
@@HacktivistMechanic I actually got it in pristine condition 2 years ago for 4k but was sold and repoed multiple times. Sold it for the same amount I bought 2 years ago
Joahim Morales yeah motor is strong but I don’t know what previous owner was doing. Interior trashed and hood paint was gone. I’ve already had it repainted and am cleaning up interior. Too good of a car to go to waste. I’ll have another video up soon. Thanks for watching!
The e55 is better than the M5 because it will actually drive without breaking down.
Some guy on ig bought a salvage titled silver preface E55 for 1500 that had a dent under the tailight he drove it home then took it apart and sold some parts but got the engine rebuilt and put it in his S210 wagon, i can try to find his username
