George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou; 25 June 1963 - 25 December 2016) was an English singer, songwriter, and record producer. Known as a leading creative force in music production, songwriting, vocal performance and visual presentation, he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the MTV era.
Born in East Finchley, North London, Michael rose to fame as a member of the music duo Wham! and later embarked on a solo career. Forming the duo Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley in 1981, the band's first two albums, Fantastic (1983) and Make It Big (1984), reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. Their hit singles included "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Last Christmas". Establishing themselves as a global act, Wham! toured China in April 1985; the tour was the first visit to China by a Western popular music act, and it generated worldwide media coverage.
Michael's first solo single, "Careless Whisper", reached number one in over 20 countries, including the UK and US.

I visited this beautiful house in gorgeous Goring a couple of months ago, people who live there spoke very highly of George. He was an absolute gem 🤍♥️

I've been his fan since the late 80s.
I first met George in Cyprus back in 83, both George and Andrew were lovely blokes and reminded me of student doctors more so than typical pop stars, they had a maturity and emotional intelligence about them beyond their young years, it was obvious to me they’d been well educated and brought up by wonderful parents,
The world is a much lesser place without George Michael RIP George 🙏
George left us so soon 😢. He was too good to be true.❤
Myself and my partner had the privilege of meeting George on a few occasions and he was an extremely lovely kind man. Very shy in person until he felt comfortable with you. So upsetting when he passed knowing he had been alone at the time. Luckily we have his music to remember him with. Such a huge talent a terrible loss.
My sister knew him, said he was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, generous to a fault and all round decent bloke. From seeing this he also had good taste in houses as well.
When George passed, I felt like I lost a member of my own family. It’s hard to explain, but something deep in my heart broke the moment I heard the news. I still can’t believe this lovely human is no longer of this Earth.
How lucky we are to have been left with such an amazing catalogue of music. With George’s music: I laughed, I mourned, said goodbyes, celebrated new beginnings and lived every emotion possible, always knowing I was never alone.
How blessed we are to have grown up with George by our side.
George was a profoundly sensitive, kind and philanthropic man. He gave with an open heart and was a genuinely kind soul. He was a rare human.
I truly hope he has found peace.
I’d like to think he is with his beloved Mum, Anselmo and sister Melanie watching over all of us.

Me too, I was and still am absolutely heartbroken. I went to his hampstead house on boxing day and left a little note, on one bunch of flowers. Went home cancelled seeing my family and cried for three hours straight. On my poor husband's shoulder😪💔

I had a friend who lived in Goring and stumbled upon George's house one day whilst out running. As many have said, his passing had a strange affect on me. I rarely show emotion, but hearing George had died, made me so emotional. This house is absolutely stunning. No wonder he wanted to live in that part of the country, it's beautiful.
I love George and his music.He’s the only star who’s died that I really miss.
Love the fact George didn't go for a huge mansion, but a beautiful, loved and lived in, sweet little Cottage. Just goes to show how down to earth and real he was. Fly with the angels George, you were a good charitable individual. ❤
It wasn't his only house. His other house in Highgate was pretty big. He also owned a smaller house in Holland Park.

Was in high school when he started with Wham. Part of my history. Remember him well. Always did see an undertone of saddness but could tell he was an incredible caring soul as well. Ive heard he watched the procession from the church Christmas eve with the candles in the window. I think his saddness over took him if so he's at peace now even if it is at our loss. I've heard he would donste and give to people in need without them kniwing it was him.. Rest in Peace George thankyou for sharing your incredible talent and warmth. 🙏🎄🕯🇺🇲
No gated community for him, just a peaceful beautiful place to live among actual people. Amazing a world known star like him could live behind a door anyone could access. Only ever hounded by the gutter press not the public. Loved him, actually bawled when he died and still get a pang when i hear his beautifulwords and voice. What a shame. RIP you beautiful man

I went to one of George's last concerts. The voice of an ANGEL. & yet, so everyday with his audience. I think everyone there felt the same way, I did.... When he finished a song, the applause started, the whistles, stamping of feet, shouting... it all made one. noise. ....& it rose & rose & rose in power.... so loud, so determined... until it not only surrounded you, it was within you... amazing. I hope he felt that.
Entirely the right, correct response to his performance. To HIM. He was MORE than a singer, a performer, more than a man. When he stood on that stage..... he WAS an angel.xxxxxxxxx I shall NEVER forget. God Bless you George.xxxxxxxxx

When Christmas rolls around I always think of the song "Last Christmas".. Ironically he died on Christmas day.. It was a sad Christmas that year.. Grew up watching him on MTV. It was like a family member passed away that Christmas day.. RIP my good friend.. You got me through terrible times in my life with your beautiful music...
I visited back in 2018 . I can’t express strongly enough the sense of sadness I felt as I walked along that pathway to the front door . It was overwhelming . I also sensed that George felt very comforted by being so close to the church . It was a very surreal experience & such an idyllic little place to live . I used to work very close to his Highgate home which is also so lovely , but the energy of George is definitely in Goring. May he be at peace . Happy Heavenly Birthday George 🙏💖

George Michael is one of my favorite artists of all time. He was so talented and handsome but the best part was he was humble. He had such a kind way. I listen to all his music still. This was great looking at his amazing home. 👏

George was a huge philanthropist. He quietly donated so much money to various charities and gifted financially to many folks just because. He never said anything nor expected glory and good words back. He was a true and rare angel.... filled with love, integrity and so much kindness for humanity....a giant precious treasure of a being. May he rest in peace. He will never, ever be forgotten.

I visited in June 2018 for George’s birthday celebration with fans he called “Lovelies.” Met his housekeeper Nu that is in the Oprah video. Such a sweet lady. The entire village was very welcoming to all of us. Such a beautiful & peaceful place. Thank you for the tour.

I always thought about George at Christmas because of Last Christmas but now I remember him at Christmas but in a different way and that makes me sad. He was an incredibly sexy and handsome man with the most beautiful smile.
His voice still gives me shivers. I still can't believe he's gone and that it was 2016 😥 It still seems like only a couple of years. Gone too soon

I was fortunate enough to see George perform at the Wembley arena in 1987, when he was promoting his Faith album. R.I.P George..a true Legend.
I’ll never recover from George’s death , I’ve seen him many times live and loved and respected his huge talent and generosity. He touched so many of us with his beautiful words. I’ve been to Goring too , it’s still so painful.

2016 was a shocking year for celeb deaths, started off with David Bowie and ended with George. He had so much more to offer if he’d only conquered his demons. His legacy, genius, generosity will live on, he’s only a song away
D'you know what? They weren't his demons. Like many who have seen the dark side of the record industry he was traumatised. It was his record company outed him after he challenged them. He was a truth teller and we know what happens to them. A beautiful Angel on earth.
I think 2022 has taken the mantel of shocking year for celebrity deaths sadly.

I was sitting in my living room at Christmas; surrounded by family, having such a particularly nice evening when out of nowhere my nephew announced to the room that George had passed. I can’t explain it. I was truly devastated. Profoundly and deeply affected. That feeling just enveloped me as I sat there trying to believe it. I have dearly loved George for so many years and my affection for him continues to this day. He was so special. I just don’t have the words to describe how much it breaks my heart that he’s gone. May God rest his soul and give his family comfort. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
It was 1 pm in the afternoon on 12/25 in Los Angeles. I walked in my house after lunch and turned on the TV that was set on CNN. I heard he died. I felt everything leave my body to a place I simply had no strength. I woke up 2 hours later in utter disbelief. Today is an extremely rainy day in LA. It is 3/14/2023 around 10 pm. The strength has returned, the heart is still shattered. Tears come to my eyes often. I'm a lover of his music and talent. I'm 5 years his junior and my daughter is his latest fan. May Allah help us so that we can heal. He has mentioned that he has given us the space of time which heals all wounds. 6 years + and the tears are still here.

It's such a beautiful home with its many add-ons from over time. George always appeared so content and relaxed here and I'm glad he was able to have somewhere that gave him the peace he craved. It's kind of you to be so respectful of all the people living in this neighbourhood with keeping your voice down as well. I did like the views of the scenery in the vicinity also that you added. I've never visited the home or gravesite of anyone I've admired as I personally don't feel the need to. I'm more than content to keep listening to George's brilliant music and watch the occasional video about him. Talent like this is extremely rare and I feel blessed just to have been alive during his career. It was nice to see the home without all the tributes there, which made it look much nicer. It is a lovely village. I have fished along the river there many times without knowing George lived there. He chose the location of this home well.
Everytime I hear "Don't let the sun go down on me" I just think how incredible it must have been for those people in that audience, possibly one of tbe best live performances/Duets ever. George and Elton for one ticket unreal, Mans voice was one of the best no doubt. seemed like a good soul, a troubled soul but a good man indeed, the music world's definitely missing one or its finest, (And can't forget Aretha Duet also, amazing) God Bless Sir, Rest well.

He & his sister buried either side of their beloved mother Lesley who was born on Xmas Eve & her son & daughter both passing away on Xmas Day is so very bizzare aswell as sad.
I hope to visit Highgate Cemetery next year with a couple of friends.

Totally amazing to see what people who can buy anything choose to buy. I would be depressed living in that house if I knew I had so many other options while George is probably as happy as he can be when he is in that house and would prefer to be there over performing as much as he did. What a life he had and his music was a part of so many peoples lives. Wish we all could find that level of contentment.

I use to reside near Goring on Thames from 1982 up to 2004! Remember meny summers by the river growing up! A lovely beautiful area i miss living there 😐

A lovely home in an idealic setting. You were so quiet, you never lingered - completely respectful! I was lucky enough to see George's NYC concert in '88(?). I still remember during "Monkey", when most of the houselights came up, & just my being so amazed that one young man had complete "control" ... 22,000 fans ALL in the palm of his hands ... everyone, just completely joyous. It was magical. George had such an amazing gift & his enormous success was so well deserved. It makes me so sad that doctors weren't several steps ahead of his heart & liver issues? This genius was far too young to be taken. Thank you for sharing this. And may George Rest in Peace.

Hi Paul, another nicely narrated video. I myself went to George’s house in Goring, this Xmas, (25/12/2022) just to see the tributes left for George on the verge outside his house. He chose a lovely place to live, that’s for sure! We had a drink in his local pub, which is a 2 minute walk up the road, opposite the village hall. There are a few paintings of him hanging up there, and the barmaid talks fondly of all his regular visits there. George, a fantastic talent, but a troubled soul, you are sadly missed 🙏🏼💔

He had a rare and beautiful soul, but in spite of everything being so sensitive, he just could not continue living, as it was immensely possible painful. I only wish I had the opportunity to see him performing and hear his magnificent voice live.

Recently spent an evening binge watching all your content. Well done my friend. This video stands out as a fav. I visited Goring on 2nd Jan 2017, just days after his passing. The mass of floral tributes and pictures and gifts that filled the lane was emotional. I returned back in January 2018 and still, the cottage was a mass floral tribute.

I HAVE LOST MY BELOVED & BEAUTIFUL DAD & 2 BROTHERS, ALL UNEXPECTEDLY, TOO SOON & TOO FAST, WITHOUT ANY WARNING!!! AND NOW MY MOM IS ALSO, ALMOST AT THE END OF HER JOURNEY.
IT IS EXTREMELY SAD & HARD, GUT WRENCHING, TEARS OF BROKEN HEARTS & EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MOVE FORWARD, ESPECIALLY ON CHRISTMAS DAY, THEIR BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR DEATHS, AND EVEN EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAYS! CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR'S EVE ARE SUPPOSEDLY THE BEST & FUN HOLIDAY, BUT IT IS NOT FOR ME... ALL BECAUSE I SINCERELY MISS MY DAD, 2 BROTHERS, GEORGE MICHAEL, PRINCE & MICHAEL JACKSON. THE HOLIDAYS ARE NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT THEM... THERE'S A GIANT GAPING HOLE MISSING!!! ONE DAY I AM TALKING TO MY DAD & BROTHER, THE NEXT DAY, THEY ARE DEAD!!! THERE'S A SAYING, "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW PRECIOUS THEY ARE UNTIL THEY ARE GONE FOREVER!!! YOU ARE ONLY LEFT WITH MEMORIES!!!... AND SOMEHOW YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT IT!!! LIFE IS SOO UNFAIR!!!" LOL so thanks so SO much for the JUMP scare @2:23 ! It was such a sad 'Last Christmas' that year......I got pics with him when he was LIVE for 25 in Vegas. Still makes me sad. I would SO hate that people were constantly filming our home. But, when you purchase a home that became 'famous' either for good or bad, or for sad reasons; that is the chance you are taking. thanks for sharing this.....

Paul, Thank you for such a respectful episode. Following your murdered police officer episodes, I have mentioned that I am a retired cop. A few years ago, I went to Goring with items (Cd’s books) which were to be raffled for our Christmas charity event. Locals pointed out George’s house and in his absence, his housekeeper invited us in. Result, I met his dog and a week later I returned to find that he had signed all the items. A true gent! I got married in that church! I miss living there, but times move on. Strangely enough, one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to at the top of the high street.

Have sad that George is no longer with us. I really hope he found peace in that beautiful setting. Loved that he gave back quietly and without fanfare a true humanitarian. Always remembered for his beautifully written songs and amazing voice. RIP George Michael gone but never forgotten.
