The only Good King Kong was the 1933 version. Mighty Joe Young of the same era was a little goofy. Compared to the 1962 King Kong vs Godzilla this could be way better. Now both monsters are Gaia Champions, champions of the earth not necessarily humans, so to have the two fighting each other would just be wrong. So I imagine Ghidorah will be in there somewhere. Wife and I left the theater on Kong thinkin like you and she didn't expect it of me. Did you see Colossal? Finally a Kaiju movie my wife liked. And ya, last I"ve read it's Godzilla, King of the Monsters with some old buddies, Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah. How are they gonna battle Ghidorah and bring him back in the next movie? Well, it's not like they hadn't done it before.
One of the best things about the first one is that the Yeagers and Kaiju both moved slowely, which power, it created this great effect of strength true power behind them. The ones here move two quickly like an anime or animation or something, you get the same effect, they don’t feel like massive robots cause they move as fluidly and such weakness as a person
What I LOVED about the first one is the Jaegers and Kaiju felt like they had an immense amount of weight to them. Their movements were slow, but very powerful. This feels like a Transformers movie :/ To light/floaty (if that makes sense) I mean crimson typhoon was supposed to be the "fast" one in the first movie (with it's fighting style / 3 arms), but it was still slow - and rightly so due to the damn size of it
Trailers have sped up shots ALWAYS. The Jaegers still have weight behind their movements - they are faster than before, technology evolves after all. But they're still slow.

Same can be said when gipsy avenger trips and falls, it falls very slowly, and when gipsy attacks the black jaeger in the snow scene, they move very slowly. They still have that slowness to them, and it's because Del Toro heavily influenced this movie, because he actually isn't gone, he's one of the producers for Uprising.
i like the first one because every moment the mechs made felt appropriate for their size the slow and robotic moment felt cool and gave actual weight to every thing they do, these mechs felt like the one from the power rangers movie.

I was wondering why this trailer looks and feels so different from the original movie and then I found out Guillermo del Toro is not involved. I'm still looking forward to the movie but I'm kind of sad. It won't have the same feeling as the last film but who knows that might be a good thing.
Doesn't help all the scenes are during the day. It makes the CGI look less real. That's why the majority of the scenes in the first movie were at night.
I worked as a background actor in the first Pacific Rim. Spent a good amount time with Guillermo. In fact, I had a ton of fun on set. I was really disappointed that Guillermo wasn't directing this time and even more disappointed the sequel isn't being in Toronto. But I guess getting this sequel is better than getting none at all.
The mechs movements don't have the weight and mechanical movement that the last one had. They look much more organic and, thus, fictional. When a jaegar was moving it's arm for a punch you felt like a destroyer sized arm was moving... this.... no. Combine the cartooney movement with all the explosions and bad doalogue in this trailer and it is, 'no duh people are comparing it to transformers.'
Li Yuki Actually that can probably be explained pretty easily in movie. This takes place several years after the first I believe so it would make sense that they improve things about the Jaegers, such as speed and how fast they can move.
He is the producer, that job is like the "idea" of the movie, the director only says if is good or not and adds what is good. But from all the case, Del Toro is doing most of the part the movie, so is nice, the effects look awesome, and looks different because the fights are now in daytime.
Pacific rim wasn't a huge success it was barely a success. That's why it took forever to even make a sequel. And even then it's only because they are hoping to cross over Pacific rim with the Godzilla franchise after Godzilla 2 and King Kong vs Godzilla.
joe n it cost 190 million to make plus advertising (which studios never reveal the amount but it's usually the same as the film budget or double) and made 411 million. So minimum it probably cost 380 million so 411 million isn't that great. But yes it was overseas that even made that much, it did super bad in the US.

Peyton Maner That's what I thought when I first watched the trailer... The reason why I liked the first movie was because of the dark apocalyptic mood it carried. It didn't get flashy. The robots weren't fast like transformers, but they had a realistic weighted movement to them which made the fighting epic.

The first PR was good because the movement of the robots were slow, making them feel bigger and more realistic. The robots in this sequel seem so cartoony, quick, and does not look as massive with that slow movement taken away. It really does take away that massive feeling the robots in the first film had. I understand these robots are newer therefore faster but I still prefer slower movement to get that realistic vibe the first film had. Just my thoughts.

Ehh I like it means better fight scene, because lets be honest thats the only reason we watched it. I found myself not caring about any of the story about the main character, the pain of him losing his brother, or the rushed romance the fight scene where were it was at.

He already said that DeKnight is making the film his own. The story is going to be completely different than what Guillermo del Toro original intended for the sequel. I also think he's way too busy directing The Shape of Water to influence it in any meaningful way. The whole thing got rushed because the Chinese company that bought Legendary wants to show there stockholders that it was a worthwhile purchase. So they wanted to show a increase in profitability their first year. So hollow and meaningless sequels here we come.

The first one only had two leftist brainwashing elements I can remember (a moderate but subliminal, except for one scene, undertone for global warming; and a slight fear mongering about nuclear power). First of all, Jaeger on Jaeger action? City-sized Kaiju? HELL YEAH! But to be honest, I have a "meh" feeling about this trailer. The reason why I loved the first one so much was that it looked incredibly realistic, like it could actually happen irl. Nothing against them going full Evangelion with the sequel, I freakin love that, but it doesn't have that "awe" factor to it anymore

Minh Vu The reason it doesn't look realistic is because Uprising's CGI is still very unfinished. I mean, it's scheduled to release in March 2018 and we already have a trailer, but it's only October, there's so much more time left, and it only makes sense that the CGI is unfinished.
I like the aesthetics of the first one because of the neon lights at night and the rain (oh my gosh the rain), cg darkness is easier to make realism than daylight (in my opinion).

I was excited to hear the beginning notes of the Pacific Rim theme but then they covered it up with a rap song. Im not against rap songs, but one of the iconic elements of the first movie was the soundtrack. I really hope they took that into consideration.

agreed this unfortunately happens to mecha anime when it gets a season 2. It becomes more futuristic and kinda removes the mecha charm from it.

I was wondering why this trailer looks and feels so different from the original movie and then I found out Guillermo del Toro is not involved. I'm still looking forward to the movie but I'm kind of sad. It won't have the same feeling as the last film but who knows that might be a good thing.
Doesn't help all the scenes are during the day. It makes the CGI look less real. That's why the majority of the scenes in the first movie were at night.
I worked as a background actor in the first Pacific Rim. Spent a good amount time with Guillermo. In fact, I had a ton of fun on set. I was really disappointed that Guillermo wasn't directing this time and even more disappointed the sequel isn't being in Toronto. But I guess getting this sequel is better than getting none at all.

The mechs movements don't have the weight and mechanical movement that the last one had. They look much more organic and, thus, fictional. When a jaegar was moving it's arm for a punch you felt like a destroyer sized arm was moving... this.... no.
Combine the cartooney movement with all the explosions and bad doalogue in this trailer and it is, 'no duh people are comparing it to transformers.'

Pacific rim wasn't a huge success it was barely a success. That's why it took forever to even make a sequel. And even then it's only because they are hoping to cross over Pacific rim with the Godzilla franchise after Godzilla 2 and King Kong vs Godzilla.
It made like 500M, it didn't do well in the US, but did very well world wide.
joe n it cost 190 million to make plus advertising (which studios never reveal the amount but it's usually the same as the film budget or double) and made 411 million. So minimum it probably cost 380 million so 411 million isn't that great. But yes it was overseas that even made that much, it did super bad in the US.
It wasn't a huge success. The only reason this sequel was made was because the fans have been asking for it since the first came out

The robots weren't fast like transformers, but they had a realistic weighted movement to them which made the fighting epic.

The first PR was good because the movement of the robots were slow, making them feel bigger and more realistic. The robots in this sequel seem so cartoony, quick, and does not look as massive with that slow movement taken away. It really does take away that massive feeling the robots in the first film had. I understand these robots are newer therefore faster but I still prefer slower movement to get that realistic vibe the first film had. Just my thoughts.

He already said that DeKnight is making the film his own. The story is going to be completely different than what Guillermo del Toro original intended for the sequel. I also think he's way too busy directing The Shape of Water to influence it in any meaningful way. The whole thing got rushed because the Chinese company that bought Legendary wants to show there stockholders that it was a worthwhile purchase. So they wanted to show a increase in profitability their first year. So hollow and meaningless sequels here we come.

The reason it doesn't look realistic is because Uprising's CGI is still very unfinished. I mean, it's scheduled to release in March 2018 and we already have a trailer, but it's only October, there's so much more time left, and it only makes sense that the CGI is unfinished.
