No thanks.
The Jaegers in this movie is missing that sense of realism the first one had. With the first movies Jaegers, you can kind of feel how heavy they are. From the way they look, to the movements they make. Something just felt off with the Jaegers in this movie. It felt more like the megazord from that reboot of the power rangers movie...
between the sound, movements and general choreography this movie felt more like souped up transformers than the giant-piloted-robots presented in movie 1. they were moving with a fluidity and using martial-combat styled never seen previously.
maybe it's a "new model" thing but when your giant robots are fighting more dynamically than most space-combat gundam then something's going to look a little weird to the audience.
movie 1 was almost entirely focussed on big clean bludgeoning hits, ranged weaponry and energy/plasma functions.
@@IRMentat maybe... but striker eureka was a fast Jaeger, but I could still feel that sense of realism... I agree that the sound and choreography in this movie, didn't make me feel the same way about the Jaegers, as the first one did...
Same feeling
@@meisterigi007 because that was the only fast one, and it wasn’t jumping all over the place. The most important thing is that most things happened at night for pacific rim, that causes a sense of darkness
The first film had all the camera angles shot from ground level looking up at the Jaegers or from buildings, whereas the camera in the second movie isn't grounded so you don't get that same sense of scale or realism. Corridor Crew talked about it in an old video

There are two. You just don't like the second. Please learn the difference.
If the Jaeger is being controlled by a Kaiju, why is it fighting in such a human way? It doesn't feel like a Kaiju, like I would expect it to act different. Dont get me wrong the fight is cool but it feels like two pairs of jeager trained pilots fighting each other

Raleigh felt his arm come off with Gipsy’s in the opening scene, so I wonder if that would literally be like feeling your heart torn out
They wouldn't actually die it would probably make them pass out

Considering the whole connection with your jaeger thing, it actually would hurt like they ripped your hearth out, but you wouldnt die
@@iamafuckingfailure you would literally die of shock, and probably a heart attack, you're still feeling the pain
Keepingnon this same idea, are we gonna talk about the feeling of getting their face ripped off?
While this is a great scene that could only exist in the universe of Pacific Rim, it breaks a lot of pre-established lore and rules of cool that the prior entry ascribed to, which, combined with the execution of the entire film leads me to wishing we got this scene with a better film
People who made this movie should’ve made their own film, it probably would’ve done better.
So here's what I don't understand. In the first movie they were shutting down the Jeager program in favor of the coastal wall, even after it was proven ineffective. They destroyed all the remaining Jeagers to close the breach. So why are there so many new Jeagers? How does that make sense? This movie has so much promise and instead is was a pile of Kaiju shit
They tried shutting down the Jaeger program to build the wall. That backfired majorly and publicly, so it was clear that wasn't going to work.
Then they managed to close the breach, but it was clear that the ones behind it were extremely intelligent and determined, meaning it was quite likely they would try again.
Therefore the best option was to continue to invest in the one thing that had been consistently successful in the past, aka the Jaegers.
After the first breach got closed, they aborted the plan to disband PPDC. Instead, they elevated its status into a full military group probably supervised by UN, increased its funding for materials research, weaponry, pilot safety and the like. That is why the Jaegers on this movie seemed like unreal, but the reality is they are the results of the increased funding to their side
Why new jaegers? Same reason standing militaries upgrade their equipment during peacetime. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
@@SCPlntrCll096 but why are the only pilots teenagers? Specifically, teenagers that seems to have only started their Jaeger training instead of experienced pilots, or maybe pilots thaf have been trained in the FUCKING TIME SKIP.

Is amazing how far fans can go to get a sequel for Pacific Rim. I mean this animation is brilliant for being a fan made film. It's a shame Pacific Rim has no sequels 😢
1:09 Okay, let's pretend like any human would be able to not pass out completely from the forces coming into play here.
Let alone kaiju
Pilots in the first film went through similar stuff. Remember Orochi and leatherback slamming Gipsy Danger around? While I don't think this movie is good, let's not pretend that the first movie was flawless either. If we're going to draw comparisons, at least make the comparisons fair.
@@deadman3824 agreed. This isn't one of the flaws the movie has. In the first movie Gypsy Danger fell from 50000 feet, and even though they slowed it down with the fuel purge and took steps to make the impact lesser, it would still probably kill the pilots upon impact, or at the very least knock them out. Instead they're up and about almost immediately. But ofcourse, you shouldn't be arguing realistic physics in a movie about giant robots fighting giant robots
@@nickthephoenix8494 I like to think that the pilots have some kind of very advanced stabilizers and shock absorbers being able to withstand tons of force while also absorbing that force to not injure the pilots. I mean, if you think about it. If a Kaiju manages to land a hit on a Jaeger's head, and if the force felt of the pilots was 1:1 with the Jaeger, it would've snapped the neck of the pilots. So it would make sense to have some sort of safety precaution/artificial limits on how much a pilot should feel from the Jaeger. They should be able to feel every force of impact but not to the point of risking your own pilots.
Plus I think it wouldn't be wise to not have stabilizers to be able to see out of their Jaegers, you can obviously tell that they use external cameras for the eyes and be displayed to the pilots' view port.
@@nickthephoenix8494Yeah it was the least believable moment in the original. Still way better than the sequel, tho.

See what would’ve been a better take for me is that they keep the kaiju-jaeger hybrid and let it be faster and better equipped than the standard larger and slower jaegers. With the supposed weight of these things, I was expecting to see this fight on the ocean floor. But I guess that ice has that good plot armor we see so much of in the more recent movies. A kaiju brain powering a Jaeger body? I'm glad I didn't waste my money to see this in theaters. It's like Clarence boddicker getting his brain stuffed into Robocops body. It ain't gonna work because they are too different. Plot armor had to be what made it work.
Cockpit ride so smooth compared to 1st one where pilots literally get slammed on all directions.
The riders combine their brains into one … that’s why in the first film you hardly see them talk to each other their plans or goals during fight, their brains linked did it
Here they yell every idea or plan
they do it quite a lot in the first film. the difference was that the first film was fun and spectacular, so you didn't really care that an admittedly ridiculous concept was broken over and over (pentecost being a solo pilot when we were told that wasn't possible, pilots telling each other what they're about to do, pilots simply being drift compatible on the basis of the script needing it rather than it being organically introduced)
if this film was great, we wouldn't care
I think that is due to anticipating a low IQ in their target audience. They have to spell everything out so people will know what they're about to see on the screen.
that's a lie, a pure lie
Even the triplets are chanting their attacks in (unison) and the russian couple (who have been doing this, all the time) do talk in their brief battle. Even the Hansens do and they are father and son.

I wish pacific rim second sequel to come out soon..!
I fucking thought that every pair of pilots driving a Jeager is brain-connected to each other, so why do they even need to talk to each other about fighting plans and stuff?
But there's a chance that the characters can't actually connect to each other's brains due to the lack of it, so that's fair, I guess.
It’s purely because the audience needs to hear what’s going on as said by the characters. Yes, they are neurologically linked- but then we would have a fight scene with absolutely no dialogue to indicate what the characters are thinking or feeling, unless they decide to use disembodied voices as a voiceover method of portraying their thoughts. It was present in the first movie, as well. It’s just a standard technique in film and television media to help the audience better understand the scene and connect with the characters.

Pacific Rim deserved better than this.

A giant robot has two hemispheres of the brain, and each hemisphere is a smaller brain:)
Ngl, kinda like it.
But obviously is not like the truly heavy fights we had from the first one.
This is how you kill a franchise🤦🏽♂️. The jeagars in this don't feel like giant robots but more like metal suits on normal sized people. They move to fast, are way to light and lack that sense of true scale
The studio probably HATED how slow the jaegers were in the first film.
Del Toro was a VISIONARY with sense of WEIGHT and MASS, and whoever directed this POS with cameras flying all over like it´s a fkn videogame, needs to be fired.
So I take it that each section of ice is only as solid as the plot demands?
People keep saying that the movements are too fast to feel like a giant mech. But I try to think perspective wise, does something like an insect think humans move incredibly slow? I'm not saying that it is more or less satisfying to see the slow lumbering heavy hits (personally I find it more satisfying to see the heavy hits ) but it doesn't tear me away from the fantasy to see the mechs moving a bit faster. These are 10+ years on from the original so it makes sense the tech would get better.
